  1. It's not just the English. Everyone thinks your league is shit ?

  2. https://twitter.com/SwissRamble/status/1003542814293143552 Thought I'd share that the ever excellent Swiss Ramble posted a Twitter thread covering Rovers' latest accounts. He does an excellent job of distilling club accounts into easy to digest charts and figures. Enjoy the always rather grim reading! (If there being a slight glimmer of hope now!)

  5. Any chance we can get back to transfer talk rather than arguing about Scottish football here?

  6. The fact he is clearly putting effort in means he gets a clean slate from me to prove me wrong that he isn't good enough for rovers. Let's hope he somehow learns how to be composed when his chance comes over the summer

  7. Scottish fitba is crap...probably worse than the dutch and portugeese league...celtic most overrated club in europe..nothing much more to add really

  8. "Last time #Rovers made a profit was 2012, their last season in the Premier League. Since Venky’s bought the club in November 2010, the club has accumulated £115m of losses, some achievement considering they have had 2 seasons in top flight followed by 4 with parachute payments." That quote from Swiss Ramble says it all..total financial mismanagement on a spectacular scale. Don't anyone dare say to me these people have the best interests of the club at heart even after promotion from the dead man's league.

  9. You are really overusing that picture.

  10. Yes that's right. Cattle slaughter and the sale of beef were banned in many states in India. So Venky's made massive profits from extra poultry sales. Share prices rose accordingly. There could be indications of a change in legislation which will put beef back on the menu so speculators are selling Venky's shares while they are still relatively high. The worst that is likely to happen that the shares return to pre beef-ban levels ( when Venky's decided they needed to sell Cairney, Gestede etc !)

  12. £6m wouldn't even buy his right hand. Which is probably a good thing.

  13. When he was having his 'purple patch' he was missing some absolute sitters, especially with his head. It's that he should be working on. I can run up hills with me undies round me knees* *I can't, but that's not the point.

  14. I think folk have been a bit dramatic about the quality of his performances last season. He showed enough in the early part of the season when he had that purple patch to show he's worth keeping on, IMO. Fair play to the lad putting the hard yards in when most of the other players are away on their holidays.....

  15. I think that's a great credit to him, he could easily be out on the piss every night and worry about his fitness when pre season comes around. Shows that he wants to make that central striker role his own, whether he is good enough I'm not sure but you cant fault him for the extra miles he appears to be putting in.

  18. Yes it did Stuart. We are now engaged. Very happy and great weekend there. Nothing is going kill my mood today

  19. Because the transfer thread is getting very circular and repetitive about the thread title, it seems like it deserves its own thread.... VOILA!

  20. How dare you not mention Sasha Petshi and Bangarang Fode Koita! Edit - and Harry Goujon! Double edit - I always wanted us to play Bryan Dabo ahead of Jason Lowe but he never made an appearance, now coming on it seems and playing for Fiorentina

  21. For a country with a population of 5 million I'd say Scottish football is actually of a good standard, is it as good as the English premiership of course its not but its not really comparable in terms of country size and finances. Celtic in my opinion would be comfortably top half in the English premiership now and that is without the extra money they would get from being in the premiership to strengthen with. Hibs, Aberdeen, Rangers & Hearts would all be competitive Championship sides. The rest are probably league 1/2 standard sides.

  22. No he hasn't. And let me be the first to say 46 games to save our club Mowbray out Get behind the lads ffs

  23. Well McGinn is getting linked there the two are not that much better than each other McGinn might be in time if he gets the right move I would just be happy if he went somewhere and played abroad maybe but championship would be good to

  24. OK, I will try one more time. It's nothing personal against Scotland, the Scottish league, Mrs Doubtfire, haggis or battered Mars bars. I just don't think Fulham , or any Premier league team, will be in for McGeoch. I hope we sign him. You reckon he could go straight to the premiership obviously?

  25. Scottish players have always left in thete droves though nothing new Its mainly about money and getting a better chance of a call up Celtic first team in history to get back to back trebles Rangers still have more so it cant be that one sided Worst league in Europe is it aye Okay name one nation our size to get two teams into Uefa cup finals in last 10 12 years? Or actually won any major competitions there? Pretty sure the under echeivments of national team slided with teams like Leeds Villa Liverpool Forrest stopped buying our players Ispwich to look were they are now put Pool there cos they have never won the EPL

  26. Obviously not.. However you can understand my confusion if you’ve not been directly quoted AND he’s referring to “English arrogance”... as you ain’t English. Apologies either way.

  28. "If something happens, I'll have to think about it, sit down and see what's right for me and everything. I'm not thinking about that, I'm a Rovers player, I think I have to work hard for Rovers and play for Rovers. "Nothing changes, I still go about my day to day life the same way as I do. People say it's an unbelievable achievement, it doesn't change anything in my day to day life." There you go, he's ours.

  29. Why is it that most people who consider themselves to be “boycotters” expect big signings, lots of money spent and have high expectations? Surely those things are irrelevant to people who are only concerned with the prospect of new owners? Surely, those who say NAPM wouldn’t care if the owners spent money or not? As Bob Fleming pointed out, the veil slips so often with “MGPINSERTNEWNAMESLAYER” and Jal that they’re both a complete laughing stock. Real world indeed..

  31. No need for him imo when the likes of Nuttall are in the wings, is he better than that ? Quality needed now for this squad whereas often in the past it's just been about getting quantity in to fill it up.

  32. Wasnt there a beef ban or something in India which was a big part of their chicken sales going through the roof?
    1 point
  33. Interesting. Definitely worth a look in and around that price range. I would hope he wouldn't be our main striking target though. I'm surprised to read he is 24 as I hadn't heard much about him before this year. My god he fair robbed Lenihan of a debut goal Saturday against the states. Did any of you see that?

  34. Absolutely mental! It's not even like he's had a poor season!

  36. Well, I suppose none of us should be surprised that there is interest. I would be far more surprised if there wasn't. He is a cracking player. My worry is some team will take a serious fancy to him and make a big offer. I mean with the money floating around, would Cardiff offering 12 million be that crazy from their point of view. I see good championship players been quoted at over 20 million ;Maddison at Norwich being one. Sam Clucas went for 20 million. Football is gone crazy. At 12 million he could be worth the gamble. I just wonder would we turn that much down

  37. Yeah, I agree. He lacks composure in front of goal, I'm not sure that can be taught. I think you either have it or you don't. He needs about 5 good chances for every goal he scores, the way we play that isn't going to happen often. He's never going to be a prolific goalscorer unless something changes. Jason Roberts was equally numb In front of goal. He was alright when it required an instinctive reaction but when he had time to think about it his head went.

  39. Fair play to the lad one of my main complaints about him is that he is lazy so good to see him putting the hard yards in when he could be on a beach somewhere. Personally I think he is more suited to a wide position where he can use his main asset which is his pace. I think to play up top he lacks the composure in front of goal to be a natural goal scorer and that is something that you either have or you don't.

  40. Been following him on instagram and he’s been posting videos a lot of him in the gym down in London, seems to be putting real work in on strength and fitness. Heres one of him from twitter Never going to be prolific but he’s someone I’d have in the Squad.

  45. Good win. Shame it’s not a 4 or 5 match test series this. But it’s not so on to two full months of nonsense cricket with a random “ashes” ODI series thrown in.

  47. It's amazing how Bolton manage to take such a simple design as a plain white shirt, and every year find a way of making it look disgusting.

  48. The British media seems to have too much of an agenda against English footballers / managers. They’ll dig through tweets, find old girlfriends, invent bung scandals (by entrapment) and then hound them out of a job. It’s a disgrace. Bitter Scottish hacks/editors? Foreign newspaper owners - e.g. Russian? Not sure the reason but these lurid tales seem to sell papers so you have to blame those who buy them with their screaming headlines or click on the ad-approved links for creating a market. I guess we should be glad that Southgate seems to be pretty squeaky.
