  1. Joe Rothwell turned down a new contract at Man UTD 2016 to go to Oxford for first team football. Did well in his first season and Did quite well last season in a stuggling side.. a bit like Dack. The guy could be a gem and a shrewd buy. Cheap and Young and talented. Judge him after some time..

  2. It also gives Nixon the opportunity to link any player to any club and comes with a get out of jail free card every time. ”Bolton were interested in Rhodes but the numbers weren’t right” Just like Bolton would be interested in signing Ronaldo if the numbers were right.

  3. Good grief. You really are an utter embarrassment.

  4. I’ll take a guess at that lad who ended up at Bolton, oztumer. I think a signing was close last week reading between the lines and all that, but fell through. We’ve had enough wrong un’s through the door in recent years. Fair play to TM on that. Only takes one or two bad apples, as we well know.

  5. I can tell you now Chaddy Bolton are in a financial mess and cannot pay the wages of a player like Rhodes. When we say skint I mean they are without any investment and have no cash flow. Rhodes will end up at Norwich that’s my bet.

  6. 'if the numbers are right' is a phrase often used by Nixon so it's hardly surprising its been adopted by Chaddy. He obviously thinks it makes him sound like a journo or ITK. Not sure I'd want to use someone as clueless as Nixon as a benchmark mind.

  7. Dunny gave me some great memories and was one of my first heroes. He made a plank of himself under Kean, but has otherwise given over half of his life to Blackburn Rovers. He's one of us. At least he didn't flounce off supporting Man City when it got tough.

  8. Potentially looks like he was the player that we wanted before signing Payne as back up. Bet we weren't in Oxford's good books come February 1st. Unlike Payne, he looks capable of competing physically too. Cautiously optimistic about this one.

  9. I'm highly doubtful anyone is going to back you up on this

  11. I think Rothwell is the kind of player we need to be signing. We have to realistic with the kind of money we can spend, I can only really see us spending 500k-1m on 2-3 players at the most. Rothwell definetley resembles somewhat of a gamble, seems to be abit injury prone and inconsisitent according to OxU fans but a player who has undoubted quality. Sometimes when a player joins a new club its helps them step up and take there game up a notch, Id back TM to get the best out of him, and if he can then he is a player who could excel for us and have potential big resale value. So as one of our most likely cheaper signings I think this is a Decent start to our business. Only time will tell.

  12. More and more clubs playing with just the lone striker. No room for Rhodes in that set-up.

  14. I don't know if I'd call it luck. Sweden were giving Germany every possible chance to equalise. They were giving away silly, dangerous fouls, constantly losing possession, screwing up counter attacks... it was like watching a team of amateurs try to play professionally. They couldn't even do simple things like run a ball into the corner and run down the clock. I was a bit embarrassed for them. They somehow got even worse when Germany went down to ten. If England had given that second half performance they would be crucified, and rightly so.

  15. They hit the post, the Swedish keeper was arguably man of the match with several top saves. The game was pretty much played in the Swedish half. Not luck at all. The winning goal was top drawer.

  16. The Germans got lucky. They are a shadow of the sides of previous years. The Swedes should have canned them first half. As soon as the Swedes conceeded the late free kick I knew the Germans would spawn it.

  17. Germany just got away with what should have been a clear penalty to Sweden. Not even looked at via VAR. A blatant shove in the back.

  21. He scored goals with regularity here not long ago, whether they kept us up from relegation in poor disjointed teams like in his first season, or when he scored 20 goals more than once in pursuits of the play offs, in seasons whereby the manager/rest of the teams failed to get close to his standards. Understand why people are saying he wont or should come back, particularly financially, just dont get the disregard and disrespect considering his record here.

  26. Chaddy - Why do you feel you have to react to every single post on here like you are TM himself? it gets very tiresome you coming on here and belittling everyone in one MASSIVE multi-quote post. Please stop. Your answers are all very Nixon-esque too, its like you do not even have your own opinion. You just churn out Nixon and other posters on here. Nothing original.

  28. No mate, no 1 - I didn't call Mowbray a liar you implied I was which is out of order, It's news, it's Rovers so it's up for discussion it doesn't need your or any other snowflakes stamp of approval for it to be brought up and talked about. If you don't agree fine, if you don't like it butt out of it. You aren't the clubs official spokesperson nor a mod on this board. no 2 - Dunn and Mowbray haven't told ME anything at all but i'm sure they'll be calling me soon they obviously speak directly to you. No 3 - it'll all come out in time as it usually does. No 4 - It really is time for the chadometer to return it's a source of great entertainment in the summer months. This time last year it's at boiling point with get rid of Danny Graham, if you dig around you'll find my posts saying it's imperative we keep him he'll do the business when it matters. No 5 - See above, uncle tom always knows best. No 6 - let's not have a long drawn out row and pish everyone off we'll leave it at that or take it to DM. N0 7 - Goodnight !

  30. Way I see it, if we are signing up and comers, young projects to fit round a nucleus of a squad - the likes of Rothwell are sensible options. I have said it before, I’d be more worried if we started chucking 30/40k at some aging premier league player. 2 or 3 more of a similar ilk, adding value and potential to the main group, supported by the youth coming through and supplemented by a couple of season long loans once the actual transfer closes in August, sensible business.

  32. Their entire defence is poop..kimmich is not a fullback..rudiger and boateng are pants..neure (sp?) Is the only saving grace..a good side and not a long ball hoof merchants like sweden, will beat them.

  37. I don't get why there are so many theories about this. Seems to me he's 40ish and feels he needs a change. If you're not going to get to the top in management or can't see yourself making a career in it at whatever level, why not do something else? He has been in football since he was a kid. How many people nowadays stay in the same line of work for their whole working life?

  38. All I remember is Coyle trying to bring in that clumsy defender from up there who I think ended up at Hibs or somewhere ? Oh and desperately always trying to bring in Giles Barnes - whatever happened to him ? Glad those days are gone neither were worth it but I think this lad might be.

  39. It was an interesting listen on radio lancs re last nights meeting. Mowbray essentially said that Chapman isn't ready as a starter and he has players lined up who are ready. Still hope Chapman comes back even as just an impact sub. He's a terrific talent and would be a positive boost for the club. Its great that he wants to come. Make it happen Tony! Love to know who the scruffy git was who Mowbray won't be signing because he turned up for a meeting in ripped jeans and a baseball cap which he never took off! Got to have standards.

  41. Unless Wednesday are paying 80% of his wages there's no chance Rhodes is going to Bolton or us for that matter on loan, not sure what Wednesday are gunna do with him. They don't want him but finding a team willing to take his wages on is going to be a big job! Such a shame for Rhodes. Can't say a bad word about him from his time here his goals kept us up one year and nearly got us into the play offs the next. I hope he can find his form again some day.

  47. Campbell has been offered several roles within academies and junior set ups but has refused them as he believes he should start at managerial level because of the level he played at, he's not been given jobs because he's an arrogant sod. It was interesting that he bemoaned Craig Bellamy on 5 live for being given an interview for the Oxford job when he was turned down, he argued it was because he was black. The interviewer challenged him on it and pointed out Bellamy had spent a number of years working FOC with Cardiff's U12's, U14's before taking a paid role on the academy, working up to reserve manager and then first team coach, whilst also undertaking his various FIFA quals, Campbell fell apart.
