  1. I do love Chris Sutton; Chris Sutton‏Verified account @chris_sutton73 11h11 hours ago Thanks to Burnley supporters for all the kind words tonight....thoroughly enjoyed being back in the North West where I had lovely memories of winning the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers

  2. N'Zonzi helped us get relegated from the PL. He's just won a World Cup. Players are different beasts under different managers.

  3. Back to Armstrong... We're potentially signing a 21 year old striker with junior England honours for under £3 million. He has a track record of scoring regularly in League 1 but hasn't yet proved himself in the Championship for whatever reason (Barnsley - Lack of consistency, Bolton - Out of position). He's an absolute steal for us and will only get better.

  4. Oh I wouldn’t be so sure - he was complimentary about a lad called Sam Gallagher when we weren’t signing him

  5. Imagine if we were selling a player who is 21, has a cracking England youth record, scored 20 goals in a season in League 1 as an 18 year old and scored 9 in 21 for us from the wing last season for £2m+1m, there’d be uproar and rightly so. Cracking signing.

  9. Probably best not to start trying to be too smug until he's signed on the dotted line....

  10. We wont have success in this league if its a talent contest. We will need to excel in other areas like team spirit and unity. We cant risk anyone that risks upsetting the team spirit this squad has.

  11. Platt from the u23's has just signed for Stanley on season long loan. He has got a better move than Wharton. make Whaton's move more strange, should be playing L1

  12. Hate posts like this, they add absolutely nothing at all. About all this "moaning" about Armstrong, people have flagged up his poor record in the Championship and its a valid point. I personally am very happy to see Armstrong potentially join, ive wanted him all summer, he adds pace we dont really have, we know he can score goals in tandem with our current attack, hes exciting to watch and hes young. But I can respect that point as it is a very fair one. You dont have to have an extensive list of potential alternatives should you not agree with a signing. Nor is anyone putting themselves forward for a scouting role. "What do some of you expect? £10 million striker signings?" - this sort of rubbish just makes you seem petulant in the point you are trying to make. Sadly this kind of crap is lapped up all too easily by many. I am pro-Armstrong as I've said but im sick of posts like this, people cannot have any opinions bar positive ones about potential signings, and its not conducive to healthy debate when anyone who raises any concerns about signings have the line "trust Mowbray" stuffed down their throats. Dont understand the debate in regards to how to fit in Graham and Armstrong together either. Last season, Armstrong on the wing worked perfectly, the pair plus Dack worked brilliantly in that Grahams hold up and play with his back to goal left space for Armstrong to exploit from deep. Why change a winning formula?

  15. I've just tweeted posh co chairman and asked if we are in for maddison, he liked the tweet with a love heart and then replied saying he doesn't want to confirm that and be accused pf leaking stories and he will leave it with barry fry. Therefore liked the tweet and didn't deny it, make of that what you will.

  16. Gallagher would be the perfect striker to bring in and have a season under the wing of Graham then next season step out of his shadow and be the main striker. He has bags of potential. He like Armstrong is a striker, not a winger. For a young lad he did superb why here for rovers, got into double figures in a relegation side managed by coyle and I never saw less than 110 pcent effort. He would blossom into an excellent player for a club like us under the right guidance. People can read stats all they want. I know what I saw and the lad is a talent

  17. I feel armstrong can be even better this season. We were the big fish last year and most teams sat deep against us. You can be sure we wont ge that respect this year, we will spend a lot more time deeper ourselves and defending. Thats where his pace can be used a lot more on the break this season. Wasnt always any space for him to use last year
    4 points
  18. Where is he playing though? I hope we're not playing 3m to play him left wing if we could have Maddison playing left wing for 2.5m.

  19. The price reflects the fact we're buying potential than the proven article imo. Based on what we've seen on him already I would say He's well worth the punt.

  20. Managed to speak with an Ipswich Town fan about the build up to the match, he has concerns about the team trying to adapt to the new style of play new manager Hurst is trying to implement. I am optimistic we can get something from the match, however I cant remember the last time we won a match on the opening day of the season. 1-1 for me.

  22. I'll make a prediction that Rich Sharpe will say something like 'i'll look into it' or 'i'll check on that one' and then come back and says that Armstrong remains on Rovers' radar but a move isn't imminent.

  23. Currently on holiday in Majorca. Just walked into a sports bar and bizarrely seen that this game is being screened live. Posters up advertising it. It's the only game being shown.

  24. You tell me JAL? You were the one saying we should bring him back a couple of months ago. Just seen you post that you doubt the owners would bring Kalinic back. Yeah no shit, no championship club would be able too afford him! What is wrong with you man? Please go back to Clarets Mad, you're a sad dingle wind up merchant and I can't be bothered seeing your rubbish on here anymore it's getting boring now

  25. That’s all well and good but what we really want to know is... do you recommend MI: Fallout?

  26. Would anyone take Lucas Joao as our forward signing? Not been linked by the way just me musing, I couldn’t see it after he was on the naughty step with Mowbray but he has talent
    3 points
  27. Yes, on sale for their fans barry . Doesn’t mean they’ve sent our allocation over. Some clubs have their tickets on sale for a good month prior the game, again doesn’t mean the away team have had their allocation sent to them at that stage. As soon as Rovers have the tickets they’ll be on sale, simple as that really.
    3 points
  28. Because they won’t have received them yet! Rovers have them on sale 3 weeks in advance as standard, so it will be Hull’s issue. I get on the club’s back when warranted, but this won’t be Rovers’ doing.

  30. Not surprised to see some on here moaning already about Armstrong, after a poster said “99% would approve”. What do some of you expect? £10 million striker signings? If not then apply for a scouting role down at brockhall and advise TM who to bring in. Time to put up or shut up.

  31. The problem with playing two up front is that the only way we could play it is by playing 3 at the back and when we play that we usually look rubbish. On paper the following team looks more than capable but they just seem to struggle with the system. Raya Lenihan Mulgrew Downing/Williams Bennett Bell Smallwood Davenport Dack Armstrong Graham

  32. I think that'd be Rothwell tbh

  33. Armstrong all but completed then. At the numbers being talked about, I think that’s a real bargain. A young player with lots of pace and an eye for goal. I do feel a front three of Dack, Armstrong, and Palmer behind Graham is pretty strong. Lots of pace, trickery and match winners in there. We do need a target man to come in too, Graham won’t last the whole season. I also feel we need one more attacking player to replace Payne.

  34. If Armstrong went to PNE for £2 million people would be furious. It looks likely he's coming to us, so people are upset at the price we are paying? Under £2 million for a striker with a proven ability to score a wide range of goals capped at all England International levels bar the senior squad. If that isn't a bargain in footballing terms I don't know what is. We have gotten to used to being miserable. Guess what. Armo is coming home! Cheer the Hell up! We are finally making positive additions to our squad!

  35. Great listen Ian, enjoyed it at lot - you're a great host but you need to be more positive! Changed your mind any with the news that we've most likely got Armstrong over the line?
    3 points
  36. £3 million eh. A lot on here said we wouldn't spend more than £1 million on a player. Cracking signing and a real positive sign of intent.

  37. You just know that Nicko's come back would be 'things can change very quickly in football' or some vague nonsense like that. Then you'd still get gullible gimps eating out of the palm of his hand on Twitter.

  38. I wish we'd made the same decision in 16/17 tbh. Lowe being named as Captain made an already shit situation even worse.

  39. Please don't ask him. I don't want to hear it all again, it's boring. Can you take it to PMs, pretty please?

  44. Don't forget that Sheffield Utd. And Millwall coped just fine straight after promotion and our squad is as good, if not better than theirs. To be honest, I'm greedy and I want promotion again asap. Just staying up isn't good enough so I'm with you, the higher the calibre of signing, the better.

  45. It’s got 1-1 written all over it, so I’ll go for a 1-2 Rovers win ?

  46. great film. very much enjoyed it Yes Yet again Jal, I already explained that I didn't watch last season as I was too busy attending Rovers games. How much of him did you see him? did he always play up front for them? I doubt Mowbray isn't convince by Gallagher, but a loan to buy next summer would be the best deal for us at the minute
