The club didn't have to stand by him after his initial offence but they did. They even covered it up for him in public. Mowbray has stuck his neck out for him and he's initially repaid that by knuckling down and taking his game to the next level . He got off lightly with just community service (he assaulted a police officer ffs!) then he didn't do his sentence. Which he's presumably lied to the club/ Mowbray about doing. He's had numerous warnings which he's just ignored. It's real F you to the club. This needs to be a wake-up call for the lad. He simply has to do his community or he's going to prison next time. But more than that he's needs to sort his priorities out now before he's telling some lads in a bar in Marbella about how he could've played in the premier league and how good he was in league 1 in the 17/18 season. Mowbray has stuck his neck out for him again and it should be the last time. Next time he gets himself in trouble he should be on his own. We can all guess as to why he's done this. If I was Mowbray I would be asking the lad to take a long hard look at the people around him.

That aside,please do not take the Pish out of the Club that pays your handsome wages and especially do not waste the time of our Manager who has better things to do than defending your sorry arse in a Court of Law. I know I should be furious about this but I'm not. I've seen it all so many times with kids at school. You misbehave you get 10 mins at break, but when the class is dismissed and you're meant to stay, you walk out with everyone else. So the teacher makes it a lunchtime detention and you fail to turn up. So it goes to a formal after school detention with notice to parents and you fail to turn up again, at which point you get the parents in and mum or dad has to guarantee they attend the detention. At each stage the kid thinks it'll get forgotten about and their parents will never have to know. But generally, however long it takes, they have to bite the bullet and do the punishment which is always worse than the initial offence probably warranted and would have taken no time at all to complete. As someone said earlier, footballers are, in many cases, just like schoolkids. He needs to sort himself out and stop letting down decent honest folk who have gone out on a limb for him and to get himself back playing asap

Phil Brown had it coming as far as I can tell. It was meant to be a team building trip and Brown wouldn't leave off slagging Todd over his old man resigning from the Bolton job. Todd was one of my faves during that era of Rovers. Wouldn't mind someone like him on the books today. Could be the steel to Mulgrew's silk.

Lads made a mistake. Look at the likes of Troy Deeney. He has a choice now. Sort his head out and focus or be a "I could have been somebody" at the end of his career. I'm not sure I buy into completely slating him. He's grown up in a different world where egos can become inflated very easily. Hopefully this is a reality check, brings him back down to earth with a bump and he looks at what's important going forwards. He's been a nob, he's been stupid. Accept it, change going forwards

I am struggling to understand how the Club management including Mowbray and the tightly knit dressing-room did not know that this situation was developing. It developed over many months, someone else at the Club just had to know. Ordinary Joe Bloggs would be eatinģ porridge for breakfast well before now. I am also convinced he has been missing recent games because of this and nothing else despite our being fed bullshit.

I can't help but feel sorry for the chap. Argue the toss about whether he was good enough or not, but that's a really rotten injury for him. As far as I know it's the last year of his contract? Open to correction on that, but it means his recovery is really a 'make or break' situation. Good luck to him.

His arse now needs kicking until it's too sore to sit down. New contract, probably a nice pay rise and a big price tag then in typical football brat style he starts playing up. I think it’s a bloody good job you’re not a magistrate then! The prosecution case was that he was accused of criminal damage (a charge that was ultimately dropped). When he was told by the police officer he was going to be arrested, he “shoved” the officer once and ran off, before being arrested further down the street. He pleaded guilty to assault pc at the earliest opportunity. A man of no previous convictions. Full time employment in a promising career. Never in a million years did it warrant an immediate term of imprisonment. He has however subsequently taken the mickey with the Community Order and he could easily have gone down yesterday. He benefited immensely from Mowbray’s eloquence and a sensible District Judge.

If I remember rightly there were similar fitness issues just before something broke about him last time around ? Hopefully if he gets his nut down we'll benefit for a few months with some quality stuff on the pitch like last time then his price will be high. Sadly as much as I think he's a cracking talent I don't see a long and happy future with this lad at Rovers. The root cause of it is probably something to do with him not settling right well up here, not the club but area he most likely spends his spare time chasing up and down back to Essex as well as after that fame hungry skirt. That could well have contributed to him not doing what he should have. The old 'he's here to play football and nothing else matters' is also possibly how the club have looked at it seeing as he was doing well but they should have looked beyond that knowing his character type.

Part of the problem was that he hadn't told the club from what I've been told. Now that they know TM has confirmed they will make sure he turns up!

And it wasn’t even that subtle. My post was nothing to do with the photo but what that photo might have meant for sorry young Bradley if the judge had been made aware of it. His character is very important in those circumstances and Mowbray has stuck his neck out for him. Hope that loyalty is repaid when the time comes for it to be tested.

Hammering Phil Brown after he insulted Todds dad is a bit different imo. Toddy was an old school hard man who was probably fine as long as no one took liberties. Brad seems to fall under the worrying snowflake label of modern players who just want to do as they please and expect someone else to clear up the mess, in short they don't particularly care for the rules then melt when they have to face up to them. Marshall, Jake Kean, Stokes now Dack the list is endless and the clubs should deal with serial offenders swiftly and harshly or rip up their damn contracts.

I await the LTs account of this, no doubt to be confused even further. Mind you they tend be a bit slow on this sort of thing. Can't wait to hear the punishment handed down by Conway Mulgrew, who sound like a Scottish Legal firm or a Scottish prison warden played by Fulton Mackay. If what has been said in Court is honest and heartfelt, Bradley has now faced up to himself, his parents and the club and will complete his extended community service. He faced the very real prospect of jail and has been given a last chance. Mowbray seems to have said the right things well before the Court in support of Dack. If anything this should bring him and the club closer together. I hope he completes his service within the prescribed time or we will be missing him from the Rovers starting line-up because of incarceration rather than injury.

Whilst i get that it can makes a refreshing change, im unconvinced that the players who have moved abroad have been the success stories as portrayed in the media. For all the hype surrounding Sancho and Lookman for example, in particular Sancho, they have failed to start very many games. Similar with Reece Oxford, his career has stagnated, and wasnt Nathaniel Chalaboh at Napoli in an unsuccessful spell without barely featuring, before signing for Watford and playing regularly pre injury.

Perhaps all of this nonsense is part of the reason other clubs avoided signing him before we did? He's obviously pretty immature and the adulation and money coming from football is making things worse. It could easily spiral out of control so somebody needs to have a word with him and ask him what his priorities really are. It's possible Mowbray already has and it hasn't worked. He's our most talented player by far so we really need his head in the game. As good as Dack has been for us nobody is irreplaceable, so if I was Tony I'd at least have one eye on who to bring in as the next Dack should he be sold or be unavailable for non-footballing reasons. We don't want to put the club's future in terms of results on the pitch in the hands of a man who clearly hasn't grown up yet.

Surely it's obvious what Booth meant. It's the Kevin Keegan school of football which works great IF you are able to defend well, but we often can't so more often than not we'll end up drawing or losing if we don't pay more attention to the defensive side of the game. Particularly as we struggle to score from open play without Dack in the team.

This is part of the problem, not just in this case but for footballers more generally. It shouldn’t be the club’s responsibility - the players should take some accountability. In the modern game it seems players don’t have any, always someone else’s fault. Dack needs to stop and think very seriously about where he goes from here - does he have the self awareness, intelligence or people around him to do that? He is a very very lucky boy to have the club and Tony supporting him. Let’s hope he realizes that and strives to repay some of that loyalty.

No. I agree with you in regards to the need for professional athletes to look after themselves. The photograph and other incidents indicate Dack isn't doing this and it could lead to the situation Egyptian Pete described. I don't believe the photograph had any influence on the team's performance at Bristol - it seems to have been a typical Rovers performance with the difference being in this league we'll get hammered. Last season we got away with wins and draws when we only turned up for one half. Nowt to do with photographs and everything to do with the mystery of why we do it!!!

The squad almost picks itself after the World Cup. Southgate is right to complain about the chances of England players. I say regularly that promising English youngsters should go abroad to play. It will do them no end of good. Striker options do look bleak. What about Calvert-Lewin from Everton? He starred for the successful youth teams, and seems to be getting a game this year. He's big, strong ,fast, but I've no idea how well he can finish chances. Solanke was another who shone at the youth level, however he's way down the pecking order at Liverpool, and all he seems to do is run like a chicken with no head. I think that Lallana is on borrowed time. Liverpool have a glut of midfielders, when Ox returns he'll be further away from a spot. He's a very tidy player though.

Garner went to jail for far less. Dadley Brack is a lucky boy irrespective of middle finger photoed in the act. The club has stood by him beyond ordinary loyalty.

Todd battered the keeper at Charlton but like I said we don't know the in's and outs about who was winding who up about what or how long it had been going on. Training ground bust ups or any bust ups within a football aren't unusual and what goes on on the training ground or in the dressing room should stay there be sorted then on you go. Todd was obviously a bit handier than some of those around him so they came off worst, tough shit it's the real world after all not a soap opera. The way Dack carries on it could very well turn into one though !

As boring as the squad is, most of the squad deserved to be called up again following the World Cup. Theres no need for 4 keepers, and the likes of Lallana before his injury, Rose, Delph and Welbeck could justify a call up. Even Rashford but for a total absence of strikers, making Vardys situation even more puzzling. Im not sure who could have been included. There are plenty of calls for the likes of Foden, Lookman and Sancho but none of them are playing much senior football. For all the praise Sancho gets for joining Dortmund, he doesnt play very often, nor will Lookman this season, and Foden needed a loan spell, he will barely kick a ball in anger this at City. Sessegnon could maybe deserve a shout for that left wing back role behind Shaw but hes not a guaranteed starter at Fulham anymore and has had form issues. Maddison and Demarai Gray have impressed in the first few games but im unsure if theyve either done enough to get an England call, or if theyd fit into the formation and way Southgate plays. Mason Mount as a wildcard shout following his form at Vitesse? Lewis Cook would certainly be more deserving than Fabian Delph but again, like Sessegnon, this season hes seemingly fallen out of favour. Ben Chilwell? Maybe. The one who for me hasnt been mentioned but deserved a place is Will Hughes. I think the pool is so small. But i wouldnt have called up Bettenelli, Delph, Rose, Lallana, Welbeck. And I would have called up Dunk, Chilwell/Sessegnon, Hughes, Mount and Ive literally no clue on another striker. A choice of Welbeck, Deeney and Wilson shows exactly how weak we are in that area. Danny Ings maybe?!

He is 21 with a lot of first team games and 4 Europa league games. Be interesting to see where he ends up. Centre midfielder too. Can't wait til next season where we play the 1-9-1 formation

Is Williams all that much better defensively? He's never really filled me with confidence and tends to get skinned quite a lot. In terms of being a wing back you'd prefer to have Bell. He can beat a man, cross a ball and has the pace to get back in. You are right though - with a very attack minded Palmer he looked exposed. Didn't he get player of the year in league 1 after spending most of it in the wing-back position as part of a back 5? You can tell he's more comfortable further forward. There's always little moments in a game like that for every player. I'm talking generally. He doesn't show near enough for a modern full back in my opinion. Besides, anyway, I hope you agree with the fact that in order for Tony's plan of rebuilding a team challenging for promotion left back/centre back is a position to strengthen!

Good post. Yes I think TM wanted Evans/Smallwood to fight for the same place with Whittingham being the quarterback in midfield with what was supposed to be excellent passing ability. As it panned out he got an early injury and even when he played it was quite clear his legs were gone and it wasnt going to work. This meant he had to play two similar players which just seemed odd. Why did we need to defensive style players in midfield when chasing promotion and most clubs coming and parking the bus on us. I feel this is why we never really steamrolled teams in the same way that Wigan did on occasion. We didnt really have anyone else that could slot in there and ping the balls around so had no choice. He has tried to address that this season too having been linked to McGinn, that American lad and now that lad from Southampton whilst also bringing in Davenport. Two defensive mids will actually probably suit us a bit more in this division on occasion as teams will come at us more rather than park up but we still need a player in there that can play a bit. I think he lucked on Rothwell a bit because i feel he was bought to play further up but showed on Wednesday night that he can play very effectively in the middle as well.

Yes, I commented on this in another thread that perhaps Evans and Smallwood are too similar to be playing together. I think the reason we look so good with Bennett in the central 2 is that he offers something different to Evans and Smallwood in that he drives forward a lot more, which makes the midfield a whole lot more balanced. I said in the other thread that whichever of the 2 stayed on in the 2nd half would have looked better and had a better game as they had Bennett in support of them. (That said Evans was excellent second half.) I'd imagine this'd be the same in most teams, even with much higher quality players. I wonder if part of the reason any combination of Tugay/Reid and Savage looked good was because they had very different abilities which complimented each other. How Tugs would have done without Savage getting the ball, or vice versa Savage without Tugay to do something with it - doubt either would have been quite as effective. And yes, I appreciate it's not a total like for likeness - Savage and Tugay were in a different class, but I think the principle is sound: chose a team that compliments each other. I imagine that's what TM was hoping for with Whittingham and Smallwood last year actually, which didn't really work out. At a lower level, the dangers of having 2 similar players in the 2 was probably less apparent in a more forgiving league, too.
