  1. It’s just a fact. There will be around 12,000 Rovers fans there, as usual. If you think £27-£31 for a ticket in the Blackburn End or Jack Walker (£30-£34 on the day) is in any way sensible for a mid table second division match then fair enough, but it’s a ridiculous price from where I’m standing. The club is only interested in filling the Darwen End at top prices, not trying to encourage a big derby crowd and atmosphere that could encourage our fans to return.

  3. Things will not get any better. The 'happy clappers' will trot out: Let's see what he does in the summer window Let's see where we are in Oct / Nov I think the writing is on the wall and, as far as I am concerned, has been for some considerable time. Mowbray failed to keep us up, brought us back but, IMO, we are now in sharp regression. Time to move on with a hungry and innovative new man.

  4. Dear god, give it a rest. We know what you think about TM. Repeating every 30 minutes must be part of your therapy.

  5. In the season we went down under Coyle/Mowbray we conceded 65 goals. This season we've already conceded 52 goals and there are still 12 games left.

  6. Seem to recall Mowbray saying on Thursday night that there would be some games where the new hard bastard of a centre half would 'sit out for Lenihan and Mulgrew' on the basis of horses for courses. Could you imagine Shankly or Wenger saying to Ron Yeats / Tony Adams respectively 'this game isn't for you son' !

  7. Should have ponied up the 100k or whatever it would have taken in January. And it would be Mulgrew I would be sitting.

  8. That defence is a job loser, some advice he'd better heed before the start of next season as if we are struggling by October.......... Ditch the 'we'll manage' attitude and actually manage by upgrading some of the favs especially when there is a bit of money available. No amount of luxury signings who might come good in a few years or on loan from a huge club or telling fans what you think they want to hear will cover over the cracks that have been glaringly evident since we were last in the division for much longer. Wise up fella you've been in this game long enough.

  10. Thats the key. Not a shred of empathy for anyone. I've seen reasons why it shouldn't be moved to 12, but none as to why it should be.

  14. First 20 minutes ‘unnaceptable’ - TM’s words before one of his apologists attack me. After arguably the worst half of TM’s reign and 4 defeats on the bounce, how on earth were they not fired up from the traps today? Very concerning.

  15. Possibly a few points too far. Though it must be good to have a manager that still believes and their season should go into April at least

  17. Remember how many seasons all we wanted was players to actually give a shit, a manager that wasn't a liar and some sort of pride/responsibility in representing Rovers. To quote Fatboy Slim: "we've come a long way baby!"

  18. This won't be popular but I think Mulgrew is windy. He strikes me as someone who won't put their head in the way to save a goal. When you look at the likes of Moran, Hendry, Todd, Short and Samba, he doesn't have their bravery. I just wonder is he at the stage in his career where he thinks fuck it

  21. And not everyone can book it off. Some people think that life should revolve around Rovers as though that should be a factor for attendances. Anyone whose life revolves around Rovers is already attending - and that takes us to the high end of 11k fans. The club needs to stop messing fans about and charging ridiculous prices (relative to the economics of the fanbase) for the privilege.

  22. Dont talk bollocks. Some people wont be able to attend all for a change that for all the guff coming out of the club is at the clubs request, for what reason exactly? And no, they wont be there regardless of the kick off time, you seemingly cannot fathom that some people arent as desperate to attend as you or I.

  24. Once again, from my perspective you are wrong and Tony is right. It takes time to “nurture” improvement. In his time, the squad is better, the individuals are better, the recruitment is better, the atmosphere is better and overall so far the results have been as good as we’ve had since Big Sam. Particularly the home form. All the minimum expectations have been surpassed. The club from the outside seems to be better on every front you could list, and I think is disingenuous to dismiss the poor state he took over when considering the improvement overall. Things change quickly in football but I have a large amount of faith in Tony to carry on the good work, which for me has been a resounding success so far.

  25. Can't find the numbers for last season but numbers for 2016/17 showed record attendances for football league (not Premier League) games since 1959 and is showing a small year on year growth. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4497292/English-Football-League-attendances-reach-58-year-high.html Edit : this one shows the average attendances of PL , Champ, L1 and L2 over the years https://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn/nav/attnengleague.htm

  26. Getting ready for when TM is sacked ..match day tickets are £5 (free before midday ) and the return of the so called missing 10000 fans ..not! (Cant fault the club for trying to move with the times though) Football as a "live " spectacle is a thing of the past now. We ve a generation of football fans that think a live game is one that's on tv. They ve no interest going to a ground to watch ..they ve no need to ..football on tv in the home ,pub ,tablet ..phone ..most important games can be picked up as a stream. That's live football. I look at the young adults sat around me and the majority of those were brought by their dads (and mums) as kids when football was less tv influenced and have now carried on either because of loyalty or habit. The next generation will be very thin on the ground. Football as a live event is dying out fullstop. Its like the cinema ..you can slash prices as much as you like ..deals etc but theres no real interest because what you want to watch is readily available elsewhere.

  29. No team goes all season without having a shocking performance, I think we’ve had a few this season admittedly but compared to the Kean,Coyle,Berg and Appleton days we are basically Barcelona.. We don’t have the quality required too be challenging in This league, we got too 8th place and a few points off the playoffs at one point through being an organised team who runs themselves into the ground. We don’t have the quality in the squad too pull a result off when we aren’t on song. Last season we did, we played poor a lot of games but came away with 3 points.. Whenever we’ve played poorly this season we’ve paid the price. When you look at our squad a lot of work still needs too be done, that’s why I stressed the other day how massively important this summer is for us. Mowbray needs to be ruthless, players like Conway and Smallwood should not be anywhere near the first team next season, and are hopefully moved on and replaced well... We’ll see, nervous times ahead this summer..

  32. Possibly yeah, but his hands were tied with Adams running at him with pace, should have done more to block it but was unlucky to see it go through his legs. Like I said, I would like both to be dropped, neither are performing well enough. Our lack of options due to recruitment negligence means they both will continue.

  37. The second goal is totally Rayas fault. Ball just went through him from a ridiculous angle. Absolutely miraculous point, we were dreadful for most of the game again, eye bleeding football, chasing shadows and zero quality on the ball. However we did create a few good chances today, which was nice for a change. Thought Rodwell was decent again, and Nyambe solid.

  42. Venksters will have a specific time period. Promotion is the only game in town for them. If Tony can't do the deed he will be ousted to make way for the next manager on the dole who once got promotion to the Prem.

  43. Couldn't agree more. I think we are very fortunate to have Mowbray as manager at this point in our history. He's not perfect - no manager is. He will make mistakes - every manager does. However, for a club in our position I believe he is a perfect fit. We need this type of manager who can oversee the whole operation and put the building blocks in place to restore the foundations which we need. As you say, it won't be easy, because of the size of the budgets of some of the clubs in the Championship - you only have to look at the income of the relegated clubs to see how much at a disadvantage we are. We can't live in the past. We are where we are and the only way we will get back to the top flight - and I remember the quarter of a century it took to get back after the 65-66 relegation - is by shrewd management, patience and a little bit of luck.

  44. Plenty of those Chelsea managers didn't work out and Leeds have achieved nothing yet after years of turmoil. Changing managers regularly is part of the modern game, but it's something that happens too much. Obviously there are extremes like what happened here with kean and I think that has effected rovers fans. Giving managers time is generally a good idea IF they have shown enough to suggest that they will be a long term success. I would include how they changed things off the field in that. Look at the example of Bristol City. They stuck with their manager and are flying it. I would say that's even more impressive than what the sky darlings Leeds are doing right now. Sheffield United have given wilder time. Possibly the best example of all is the Norwich manager. Plenty of their fans wanted him gone last season and look at them now. In fact I reckon the 3 promoted teams will be Norwich, Sheffield United and Bristol City.

  46. My main issue with TM is the horribly unbalanced squad. We seem to have a glut of midfielders yet not one who is naturally a wide left player. Even our wide right players don't really look totally comfortable there (Armstrong and Bennett) although compared to other positions bar centre mid it's not first priority. Lenihen spent a lot of last season injured, Mulgrew seems to be fading but we didn't get in another top class centre back. Even if Mulgrew wasn't fading so fast given his age it would have been wise to plan for this Speaking of no cover and replacing older players whilst Graham hasn't faded there is no other striker at the club who can fulfil that role. Forgetting the price (criminal in itself) Bereton is not championship standard and Armstrong may give a decent plan B but can't do Graham's role. Likewise where is the cover for Dack? Perhaps it was meant to be Palmer who I didn't really rate but regardless again we have no creative back up for the hole position either. So in short we are resting our season on 2 players being fit, as well as ignoring a 3rd key position in our preferred formation (left mid) and having question marks over a 4th (CB). All of which seems madness. Injuries, loss of form or general tiredness all dictate adequate cover is needed. A good formation and plan requires each of the 11 positions are filled well within the first 11. Neither concern seems to be addressed and if that was hard to see over the summer (for which there is kind of a case) for it certainly should have been sorted in January.

  47. The Bolton situation just sums up what a shambles the rules of the League are. Bolton have been on thin ice for years, winding up orders galore, close to administration, yet are allowed to carry on doing it and face no sanction from the league, whilst well run clubs like Rotherham and Burton punch above their weight with limited yet well managed finances. Bolton managed to escape at the last minute last season and in doing so consign Burton to League One, probably never to return, and give Bolton access to Championship income for another year. They could still do the same this season and climb above Rotherham. Bolton spending money and paying out what they clearly don't have. Meanwhile Birmingham are being pursued for breaking FFP rules and supposedly gaining an advantage over rivals in doing so. Great. Punish them. But how can Bolton not be guilty of similar? Then you've Blackpool where a convicted rapist who was found in court to have stripped the club of millions of pounds is ok to own it whilst Belokon who has a guilty verdict from a Court in Kazakhstan cannot.
