  1. I saw Rich Sharpe point out a couple of interesting stats over the weekend, and after some digging found some of my own that show the "Character" of Rovers since Tony Mowbray took charge. Rovers haven't scored an injury time equaliser/winner in a league game since Fulham away in March 2017, the only other one in Mowbray's tenure is against Cardiff at Ewood in the same month We are yet to score an injury time winner in the league since Mowbray took charge (Last one being in February 2017, under Coyle, against QPR at Ewood) We haven't come from behind to win a game since April 2018 against Peterborough We have only come from behind to win a game in the league 3 times since Mowbray was appointed, Bristol Rovers home, Peterborough home & away in 17/18. In the 58 games since we came from behind to win a game, we have conceded the first goal 25 times, losing 19 of them. We haven't come from behind to win a game at this level since November 2016 which was under Coyle, against Brentford. The last time we conceded at Ewood park and won was New Years Day last season. Pretty damning stuff I would say, it generally means that if we go a goal behind, you might aswell go home as this lot aren't getting back into it. The signings of Cunningham, Downing and Johnson have no doubt helped the side to see games out when we are in front, but the lack of response when we go behind is really concerning and something that needs addressing if we are ever going to improve beyond a lower mid table side.

  2. Rothwell is the difference and always has been. Holtby of course is another man who is the difference. These two HAVE to be starting for us.

  3. This is the best squad we have had in a long long time. Tony needs to do better.

  5. Thanks for that. I've just plonked on a load of cash at 0-0.

  6. Unless Mowbray finds the courage to let this team off the leash we're stuck in mid-table purgatory until Venky's lose patience and the whole thing collapses again. Much like under Bowyer we have assembled a squad that can compete at the top six, but we probably don't have a manager with the attributes to deliver it. It's a shame because Mowbray has done a lot of good here, but he's going to need to completely change his mindset to deliver success beyond finishing mid-table every season.

  11. Imagine having a young eager manager who has balls to use our quality. We have one of the best squads in the league yet we have one of the most boringest delusional Managers in the league. He's done okay with brining some names in - but Jesus Christ Mowbray use what you have infront of you!!

  12. Forrest have been useless this league is there for the taking but our boring ass manager wont let us go for it aaaargh

  13. Holtby has done more in 5 mins than most have done all game.

  14. Yeah but we played some scintillating stuff for 15mins against Luton, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  15. Notts Forest at home? Pull yourself together. Some of the hysterical reaction on here is pathetic.

  17. Holtby is another level of a player ain’t he? Not seen class like that on a ball for a lot of years in a rovers strip. He just has that zip about him that all good players do. Him, Dack and Rothwell need more minutes on the pitch together. That said, Downing looked a better player when he was on to. They all did. Holtby has to start

  19. Some absolutely abysmal stats in there. Real traits of a team with a losing mentality. The fact that if we concede a goal at home basically means we aren't winning is unbelievable. Is our mentality that frail that conceding a goal knocks us so much its unrecoverable? Alarming. Fair to say, we aren't achieving anything with these players or this management.

  20. I’ve always defended Super Atko. He was one of our most under rated players for many a year and was instrumental in our winning at Wembley against Leicester on that blistering hot day. I’d like to see his mileage figures against those of other players in that game. What’s more he had the intelligence to choose Darwen as a home instead of those tips you call the Ribble Valley and Formby. Top man.

  21. Courtesy of Lionel Pickering but he blew it, as did Jack Hayward at Wolves.

  22. I thought a draw was a fair result. First half was a non-event with neither goalkeeper having anything to do. Second half was better and we improved once Rothwell, Holtby and Samuel came on. Perhaps it's time to give Dack a rest because he really isn't contributing much at present - I thought Holtby did far more in the short time he was on. Likewise Rothwell and Samuel increased the pace at which we were playing. I thought Downing was excellent throughout but Travis went back in his shell tonight and his distribution was poor. Gallagher continues to disappoint and looks no better than Brereton in terms of a goal threat. Fortunately, Armstrong had a better game so we at least had some threat up front. I would hope Rothwell, Holtby and Samuel get a start on Saturday for what promises to be another difficult game. I think tonight showed, like the game at West Brom, that there is very little between teams in this League this season. At the moment there isn't a team who one could say will definitely be in the top two at the end of the season let alone the top six.

  23. Agreed that the club was a 1000% better run then; the problem I have with some of the criticism of Mowbray is that implicit is that his successor will be a better manager. There is no evidence in the last 9 years to suggest that that is likely. I also think that the "best" manager for the club is the one who works best with the current owners and I cannot think of who that would be - hence I prefer to support Mowbray despite some legitimate concerns

  25. Yes done well to bring in some good players. However he's not f***king using them to their quality! People need to stop sucking mowbrays ass. Gallagher has cost us 5million. No way on earth is he going to get dropped anytime soon. Same with Downing who I do rate. Our team needs to be built around Dack. Holtby & Rothwell beside are the exact people we need. Next game needs to see that.

  26. Gallagher and Graham will surely be dropped for Holtby and Rothwell next week. Superb last 15 mins but in all in vain. We really need a win at QPR to set the tone for the season. Time to step up. The slip up against Luton still hurts. Holtby is quality and Rothwell has it. Think Dack was Poor today along with Gally and Graham.

  27. Mowbray needs to start picking a team rather than 11 players.

  28. Yet again....the Mowbray selection....no nerve, no balls, no idea. WHAT on earth does he see in Gallagher ? Yet again....players out of position...yet again better players left on the bench I dream of Boro coming calling for their man...I dream of Ewood having an atmosphere once more (dire tonight) .....not whilst Mowbray is in town .......nightmare .

  29. Of course it was a winnable game. They were completely bang average. Every game at home in the Championship is winnable. I’d expect 3 points against all bar Leeds, Fulham and West Brom to be honest.

  30. Good end of the game BUT anyone else think Walton should have stopped their goal. It was not that well hit and he took a week and a half to get down. I thought for sure Forest would nick it. Not good enough and I do not like that Travis has had Mowbary coach the Travis out if him. I don't.think Samuel has.done anything in his two cameos. He has a couple good games for U23's and boom he's back jn. Chapman has seemingly had plenty and is nowhere near he does like his boys our Tony. It's.all just.so bloody infuriating.

  31. I see Travis is now a fully vested member of the sideways or back club. Well done Mowbary you've raised us another crab. Young dynamic forward thinking player is converted to a young Evans

  34. Had father in laws ST on weekend, got a buzz going down for first time in ages went in ewood working mens club all good. Then got on the ground no atmosphere, awful football and all round depressing place. The football i would accept if we hadnt spent a decent amount of money.

  35. Dack comfortably the worst player on the pitch that half he looked drunk! Trav not won anything today after having a brill game at weekend. Arma looks good until he has to do something with it, Gallagher just looks confused and can’t say I’ve noticed Graham A disjointed half with little positive to say.

  40. Poor team, with no balance. Would of played Rothwell dack and Holtby behind graham. Can’t see us getting anything from this. We have two strikers playing in the wide areas. That says it all.
    2 points
  41. I think being unbalanced has been a big issue for a long time. Laughable reading his comments about how he likes his wide players to do their bit defensively in the telegraph today - Armstrong offers nothing defensively. Tough job being a full back in this side.

  42. Walton Nyambe Tosin Williams Cunningham Rothwell Holtby Travis Downing Dack Graham I’d go with that. I predict Mowbray will go with: Walton Tosin Lenihan Williams Cunningham Bennett Travis Downing Dack Gallagher Armstrong No discernible shape or style, and plenty of chopping and changing after about 12 minutes

  43. Formation's don't matter - if Mowbray can't get the players in the right frame of mind and they aren't up for it, we'll lose. Steve Bruce said as much after Newcastle's crushing defeat by Leicester. It wouldn't be unusual of Rovers though to win this after Saturday's debacle. I'm feeling gloomy though. 1-1 at best
