Firstly I'd like to wish all Rovers' fans a happy Christmas and a fantastic 2020. What's your best remembered Rovers Christmas fixture? After 55 years of watching Rovers, mine is 26th December 1977: nothing since has come remotely close... It's hard to smile when you're 3 nil down, The Rovers giving you the run around.....5 points

The only preparation I'd make for this match is print out on paper 1-2 Luton and 1-2 Charlton and staple it to the backsides and foreheads of every one of our squad members. Double-staple them for good measure.5 points

Surely if Dack is fit he should start. He's our best player and our talisman. Regardless of who the striker is Dack starts.5 points

Went on the pitch at ibrox against hearts in 2009. After herrick 9. Lost members of 45 commandos team thru injury/death. Contacted rangers and they couldn't do more Got shown round the training ground the day before. Free bar all day and night of the game. Fans stayed in there seats at half time to applaud. Was unbelievable to be honest. With my family being celtic they said they would be surprised if they would let us wear our green lids on the pitch. Lol. In fact most of the lads were celtic tbh. They was blown away. One of the boys was a hearts fan who tackled a hearts player and did keep ups in front of the hearts fans to then reveal his hearts top. A paper up here ran with the story commando jambo. Long story and I apologise but good good memories.4 points

Agree that this is a game that we have to expect to win, but Wigan haven't been getting battered that often this year. I'd be more than happy with a win of any sort to keep the run going.4 points

Looking forward to this match immensely.... it's a real test of our ambitions going into the new year. There can be no messing about, if we're serious about a top 6 place this has to be an emphatic win with a good performance. Coming over Merceresque here but it has to be a 3-0 or better. A draw or worse would be hard to take after the recent run raising our hopes (yet again)4 points

Impressive. Having seen that I now understand Damien Johnson's role and the reason for his promotion. I will definitely not think of Mowbray as a dinosaur again ?.3 points

I would expect we have one of the best senior and academy training facilities in the championship3 points

Decent form and no work for many helps too. A good performance can easily swell the boxing day crowd further, fingers crossed.3 points

Probably looking at 17-18,500. Lowering prices DOES work.3 points

I am not too sure we can exactly sit on the high horse with that one considering we bought somebody for 7 million who rarely makes the starting 11. In fact, can we just stop buying 'anyone' for 7 million. Seems to be our cursed number. Didnt we get Grabbi and Davies for 7 mil each?3 points

So? Just because Birmingham was announced as Category A in the summer doesn’t mean it’s a good decision. It’s Cat A because usually you get a couple of thousand extra through the gate on Boxing Day. So instead of thinking, ‘traditional football day so how do we make that extra 2k, an extra 5/6/7k?’, the club just decides to milk that 2k at £27-£33. I’m not getting particularly annoyed about it, as it was always going to be Cat A and Wigan looks to be selling well, so we will see a bumper Xmas crowd at least once this year.3 points

Laughable but sadly typical of the kneejerk mentality in football. 1 good game in 20 and Bell’s suddenly the answer now.2 points

Think you've been watching too many YouTube videos of Big Ben, and not what he's been doing on the pitch.2 points

I remember in league one having to go in the home end of bury as we’d taken 4000 ish. At ten quid a ticket given they charge us far more I thought it was a low figure from them but your right it’s up to us to raise the roof indeed. A good early goal for us will turn the place electric. we are all Rangers pal! Had two old school pals down last week watching the gers game midweek! They both love rovers and the souness connection!2 points

I'm coming down from dunfermline with 2 jocks who have never been to an English game. Hopefully they enjoy it2 points

Cardiff against Preston was easily the worst game I have seen this season. Nobbers shaded it but the football was extremely poor.2 points

Thinking on it my only worry about this one is its another game where Rovers are heavy favourites and we really don't do well in those situations. Our good run has come against teams who feel they could take something from the game rather than fearing Rovers. This game is a bit different - Wigan are on a horrendous run, we are in super form - I can see them sitting back and trying to hold out for the point. We really struggle with this. Hopefully our good form blows them away. on form and on quality of players we blow them away but still have that slight nagging feeling that this isn't our favourite type of game.2 points

Dont think theres any doubt that Raya isnt at times error prone and eccentric. That being said, hes certainly more talented than Walton and trading a permanent keeper for a loan keeper only compounds the situation. I think the quality of the Championship this season is low in general and thats certainly the case with the goalkeepers, theres some really error prone ones even at the top of the League.1 point

Agreed about 1977. In the 1974/5 promotion season, Gordon Lee's championship winners thrashed PNE 3-0 and Palace 3-1 at Ewood over the Christmas period which gave the whole town belief that this was our season.1 point

I have to agree with you Nick. It was a great day to be a Rovers fan over there on that day. I was in the Bee Hole with lots of other Rovers fans as we blew the Dingles away.1 point

We’re proud to be. An example why we still are is Our dad spent 20 years serving the army and for the country like our grandad did in WW2. The way rangers celebrate any veteran each year is something truly class and not matched by any British team. I know your joking tho! @sabino1 point

It was a good crowd and atmosphere in league 1 for this fixture despite tv and standard prices so hopefully a repeat of that. Wigan will bring 2-2.5k which is decent for them and about normal here. Hopefully we hand them their arses on the pitch.1 point

Every capacity is incorrect there. The Jack Walker holds around 11,000. Only the Blackburn End lower is in use which has a 5,000 capacity. Riverside holds around 4,000.1 point

I thought that is what he was saying, to be honest...but I couldn't really care less lol1 point

Whatever his reasons and excuses are, you cant give a 5m striker 6 or more out of 10 if hes only scored 2 goals in 20 games. Giving his all is a minimum requirement. We have been through the fact that some of the onus regarding chance creation revolves around the attacker and his movement and anticipation, hence why Dack can score regularly in the same set up. 12 teams have conceded more goals than us, so only half the league. But I think our defence has been better this season, but our defensive record would be even better had Walton not made major errors v Preston, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Stoke off the top of my head. Hes done a few good things too but 5/10 is fair IMO. Again, yes that may be part of the reason but that doesnt change the fact that he has not met expectations so far.1 point

Wage considerations are a big part of it, I am sure you would have agreed had it been a Murphy or an Etuhu stuck on huge wages, that said Chapman was signed in January. I dont know how you could give Gallagher at least a 6. Hes our big money signing and has 2 goals in 20 games. More often than not he has been ineffective. Cunningham would get a 5 from me, his quality would have made him far higher than that had he not been injured shortly into his 8th game, including one major error at West Brom, this one is very unfortunate. Walton has made numerous major errors, and Johnson has arguably been the biggest disappointment considering his track record. Holtby is our highest calibre signing but still no closer to finding his place in our team for all of his quality. All 5's for me. As you imply, cant argue with the analysis on Adarabioyo and Downing.1 point

Just going back to Marlon Broomes for a minute. I remember reading an article by Alan Shearer in the programme, part of it was regarding young players that were coming through at Ewood. He was praising Broomes to the skies, future England international etc. I was really taken aback when I first saw him play, even allowing for his youth, he looked deeply average to me. He'd been built up as the next Bobby Moore and he looked nothing like him ability wise. When you see top young players coming through you can usually see a couple of attributes, Broomes didn't have any outstanding qualities.1 point

You will find that the only thing I said was that Dack plays at his best with Graham and not with our other strikers. If Graham is not selected, but Gallagher is, then Brereton would be a better partner for him, than Dack. Pick the best partnership that is available.1 point

I have to totally disagree Eddie: First off, I'm certain nobody wants him to fail. You only had to be at Ewood to see the ecstasy when he did actually score (against Bolton I think). He's been here for 18 months and has never demonstrated anything to warrant signing him at all, never mind the multi million pound fee. I once described him as a modern day Myles Anderson in terms of a signing and I've seen absolutely nothing to alter that opinion. I'm not normally a knocker of players but there are better centre forwards up at Blacksnape on Sunday Mornings IMO.1 point

I thought he was totally decent. Too many people have their minds made up about him and it would take a run of 20 incredible performances to change that. I thought it was a good return from injury and, hopefully, he can keep improving. Not sure why so many want to see him fail. Will be end up justifying the fee? Don't know. Could we have done something better with the money? Probably. But does he look like he could be a useful player to have a round? Quite possibly.1 point
