  1. Or these are exceptional circumstances that need to be tackled? As much as I love Rovers and going to the games, I’d take a few postponements over a further spread of the virus.... Sometimes we have to lose out on things we love for the greater good.

  3. How do you know it hasn’t slowed the spread? Could have been far worse without the ban The spread is coming, the plan is to flatten out the rate of it and give the NHS a chance

  5. Chaddy think of it like this.... you contract the virus in the BBE from some fan with no symptoms who was working in country X a week before. you have no symptoms for 7 days but in the meantime pass it to your parents and then one of them dies whilst you recover. You also pass it to your kids who never show symptoms but pass it to the rest of the school who pass it to their families and Accrington has several deaths as a result. All because of that guy in the BBE with no symptoms.

  6. I am definitely staying away on Saturday. I hate walking across the lower concourse at the BBE on a good day. I have Asthma and my wife has Bronchiectasis and, unlike the esteemed Prof. Chadd, I have a healthy dislike of this particular virus.

  7. It’s not an overreaction mate. The countries who have been affected least by the virus are ones who acted quickest.

  8. Please stay away guys! If not for your own health, but for your parents and grandparents. You are just one week behind rest of Europe, and will regret the public gatherings in a few days. I live in Norway where the country went into lockdown mode today. All schools and kindergardens closed for 2 weeks and I'm going to stay home with my kids while the wife needs to go to work in a pharmacy where there currently is mayhem. We had the same attitude as some of the guys here. It started only 10 days ago when a few people brought the virus back from Italy during winter break. Now it's everywhere and we don't have enough capacity in hospitals to deal with a larger outbreak. As seen in Italy, if the outbreak overload the capacity you will see a death rate between 3-6%, while nations that has imposed strict bans will keep at 0.5-1%. Yes it will mostly be deadly to the elderly and people with underlying problems, but in Italy 8% of hospitalized people are between 20-40 years old. Their patient 1 was a 38 year old athletic male with no problems, who currently has been intubated for 2 weeks if still alive. I pray that I'm wrong and overreacting, but I would regret not saying something. Stay safe!

  9. All i can say is that if anyone is thinking of standing next to thousands of other people at a football match or wherever, good luck to ya. If you are youngish and healthy you will probably fine, its those you pass it on to that you should be worried about.

  12. Nothing sly about it. You are quite literally saying you think millions of people should be allowed to be put at risk of infection of an unknown illness. Think of others, rather than your need to be at Ewood. I assume if Boris (quite acceptably) locked the UK down like Italy you'd sing his praises, contrary to your opinion here?

  13. Is it? The wealth of the ‘Big 6’ is enormously distorting our game. CL cash is a big driver of that. So I’m actually supporting our English game. Big Picture and all that roverandout. Oh and come on Wolves ?!

  14. How can anyone suggest Gallagher on the wing. I genuinely want to hear the rationale For me He plays up front or he doesn't play I think most would agree on that surely?

  21. There is however a flu jab every year on offer. The problem with this is the projected infection rates 60-80% way more than flu! Death rate running in UK at 2% of those infected. Regular flu deaths annually in UK 10000 approx. If 60% of population get the virus that's 42million death rate of 2% is 840000 think about that.

  22. I'm 71 on Saturday ( PM me if you want to send me gifts, cards, money etc ) and I get the impression that there are plenty of other people around my age on this site. I would have thought there are plenty at Ewood on match days as well. We don't want to lose any of our long time supporters so let's be sensible about this matter.

  23. They aren’t an English club , they make a point of being from the republic of Merseyside . Us and them

  24. It's time the club commanded respect for itself and its supporters. We are Blackburn Rovers. We will play in our home kit whenever we can, changing the shorts to blue if necessary. If we need a change, red and black (or navy) halves with red or black/navy shorts should be it. Our owners are multi-billionaires and we needn't rely on shirt sponsors to dictate to us. Our pride and integrity must rise above marketing desires. N.B. I use the term "halves" because everyone else does. I still refer to our shirts as "quarters". A shirt cannot be divided into four halves. ?

  25. "Wash your hands thoroughly using alcohol based soap/gel and water." In the Riverside bogs? And stand for 10 minutes trying to dry them with these antiquated hot air driers? Not me. I've decided I'm going to give this match a miss. I'm knocking on. I'd hate to catch this virus and pass it on to my better half who is of similar age. Also, when I buy my season ticket, I expect to miss the odd game or two during the season without expecting the club to re-imburse me.

  26. Mowbray’s wording has subtly changed from “He will..” to “He needs to...” ie nothing to do with me Guv. I watched the first goal vs Derby again and Brereton was just pathetic at the beginning of their move, running away from the guy who burst past Downing. You can see Downing yelling and pointing Brereton to the guy but he does nothing. So then it’s a two in one against Travis and bang, 1-0

  27. Mikel Arteta has tested positive. I'd guess that'll be our lot now, I'd be surprised if the EFL and Premier League don't release a further statement tomorrow.

  30. If you have direct contact with anyone over the age of 60 then for their sake you have a responsibility to stay away. I won’t be going to the pub or any public place, except the shops and office, until we are advised otherwise.

  31. Do you think we should look at what was said by the chief scientific advisor? ?

  32. Flu is a known commodity. This virus is not. The death rate is higher than flu and poses a more profound risk. Simple.

  33. My wife is Asthmatic which is why I want to keep it as far away from us as possible Andy Holt showing he understands people and offering the chance of pro rata refunds on season tickets if they wish to stay away, superb move

  36. Nah, I'm probably inclined to agree with you on the ability side of it. I haven't seen much in any performance really and didn't buy into the whole mini-hype after a few decent cameos. I struggle to see what he brings to us unfortunately. When you compare it to the likes of Watkins, Benrahma and co at Brentford it is gut wrenching we've landed up with him. There are far better players out there for sure.

  37. I suspect it will be a pretty thin crowd in any event. If the ban does go ahead in the coming weeks, as is likely, it'll be interesting to see if we still post an attendance of 11,200 or not.

  42. tbh honest i can think of better ways to go than watching us at home to bristol city in a cold, half empty stadium, why can`t we all meet our end after winning the champions league then perishing in an volcanic eruption that kills everyone, that would be going out in style

  43. Good way to get a capacity attendance (well ticket sale capacity ) for the remaining home games and get around ffp restrictions. Venky's purchase 150,000 cv-19 test kits and cover the salary costs of people to do the testing at home games , plus 150,000 hand sanitiser 50ml , 150,000 toilet rolls and donate to Rovers. Rovers offer free testing and 50ml sanitiser, toilet roll with every ticket purchased (3 quid Waggot tax for arriving only two hours before KO for tests.) Increase stock and sales of pies, snacks etc for all those hanging around the ground a couple of hours before kick off

  45. How are Sodexo going to manage the pie order without knowing the numbers for Leeds ? This is apparently a £3 per head catastrophe when talking about a couple of hundred Rovers fans. So 7700 or zero must really be causing a headache for the pie logistical department.
