  1. I sort of see where you're coming from, as I am of the sort where someone can tell me they like ladyboys, want a sex change, are gay or whatever and I think that it's their business and if they're happy and comfortable then fine. It's the people who stomp around looking for offence and or on an endless quest for labels and more narrow definitions that ruin it for everyone.

  2. If Shearer had have stayed fit, would we have seen a Cloughie Forest style promotion followed by top flight title?

  3. Nobody has mentioned Craig hignett yet, I remember him having a touch of class and scoring some great goals for us.

  5. They were definitely sold with the ASICS badge at the time. I have one here! The club did bring out a retro re release without said ASICS badge though. I recall seeing it in the shop and a few with them in the stands.

  6. I noticed that the Dutch League is unlikely to start again and an increasing number of League Two and One clubs are less than keen to finish the season due to the financial pressures of behind closed doors games. I believe Rick Parry had commented that supporters are not likely to be allowed in grounds until some time in 2021. With behind closed doors games to finish off this season - if they happen which has to be doubtful - and no new season ticket sales in the summer, I suspect football is going to undergo a major restructuring for those clubs that survive. The days of big money transfers and wages - certainly for clubs outside the top six - are likely to be a thing of the past - and not before time.

  8. Wow you are the man!! Thank you so much for finding that picture. interestingly this 94/95 shirt made a return for some away games in the 95/96 season.

  9. Fairly obvious the PL/EPL don’t have the first clue of what to do, there’s a different potential plan emanating from them every other day...

  10. It looks kosher to me. There was definitely no ASICS badge on the shirt for that game (see photo). I think it may have been 95/6 season though?

  11. That’s the point Mike. I didn’t really assume it, I asked you whether that was the reason, given that he hasn’t come out as far as I know (either as gay or as anything else). Without really wishing to labour the point there must have been something about MGP that made you think or assume that he was gay. The fact that you were only 14 at the time you made that assumption might actually explain it to be fair. Your posts are usually very measured and it just surprised me a bit that you threw MGP’s name into this for no apparent reason. For the record I don’t care what his or anyone’s sexuality is.

  12. You have raised probably the most important point in this crisis when you mention season tickets. For most clubs outside the PL (where TV money dwarfs all other income) the summer is vital as it's when the bulk of their cash comes in. Given the uncertainty at the moment (and for some time yet I think) I doubt clubs have been able to give season tickets much thought. The worst case would be no spectators until next year and that would mean half season tickets being available but the other side of the coin is that many clubs just won't survive that long with no money coming in. There is no easy way out of this for many. As you rightly say football is at the crossroads and sadly many clubs will go the way of Bury. For many of the ones that survive will be run on a shoestring. I fear that we will fall into that category.

  13. I saw mpg in Manchester bars a few times and leave with some extremely hot woman on his arm. As above means nothing and no one cares just thought it might add balance

  16. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52381612 The clubs in the National Leagues have been decisive and ended their competitions immediately although there needs to be further discussion on promotion and relegation. I wonder what BT Sports have done as they have the tv rights to the National League including playoffs. The comments from the Barrow director are interesting considering the selfish comments we have seen from some of the big hitters.

  17. It was Hughes. You also if I recall have Dunn in the background shouting "he can't go up, he is too old.," My word that was a hell of a good day.

  19. Remember we had a really good end to the season, think we won 8/9 out of our last 10/11 games or so. I especially loved that Liverpool game with most of my school mates being Liverpool fans, my first taste of bragging rights in the school yard I think.
