  1. Forget Ayala those wages would be huge. Il throw a name about Bailey Wright went up with pne became a no nonsense type centre back went to Bristol city for 3.5 million finished last few months of the season at Sunderland racking up the motm awards. He’s on a free this summer, Australian international, I’d suggest that would be more realistic if we even actually do look at anyone.

  2. You have a fair point about supporters not equalling customers. Although I see it in a different light to you. We are better than customers. We guarantee repeat purchasing and will stick with the brand despite any potential PR nightmares, ie: Venky's. It is for that reason why we should be treat better than an avaerage customer down Asda for example. Yet, if I prepaid for my online shopping at Asda, and they didn't have the product, they'd either supply an alternative or provide a refund. Rovers are not offering that same consumer protection. What Rovers have offered is good for some people, like myself, but for someone like my Grandad it is pointless. He doesn't even have internet at his house so how, in the current climate, can I make sure that a man who has been going for over 50 years is seeing a) his football and b) value for his hard earned money? By rights my Grandad should receive a credit refund of £52 from the club. He won't though, because the option to use iFollow is available....if you have internet. The Club has let my Grandad down massively. He's never let them down, bought his ticket every year, got all his grandkids replica tops, season tickets, hats, scarves, programs. The only time in his life when he's probably looked at the club for something back and the men in charge are nowhere to be seen. Sadly it is exactly what we have come to expect from the current management of Blackburn Rovers.

  3. Just had a proper read of the notes of the FF meeting and, potentially, the more I read it the more appalled I am. I really hope Waggott doesn't send out another communication advising fans that refunds are a matter of "financial hardship" and that if you want one you've got to contact the Club pleading your case. Refunds should be available to anyone who wants one regardless of status, and regardless of the reason they want one, no questions asked, but obviously if you get one you don't get the I follow. I'm sure we've all been in the position at some point where we've had to contact our creditors to negotiate a temporary arrangement regarding a debt but it's pretty embarrassing having to explain why you're in difficulty, and not the most pleasant experience. I think it really will be the final straw for most fans if they have to go begging cap in hand to the Club for a relatively small refund.

  4. We'll try and time their release for the same week as a vaccine goes into production. I'm afraid the minutes of the forum and the club statement from earlier this week just don't tally. The club statement is clear that refunds are not being offered, it goes as far as it can to tell people not to bother even thinking about them and attempts to guilt trip fans thinking of doing so into keeping quiet. Now in these minutes Waggott 'hopes' that the 'majority' would 'accept this' and plans a message to be released once all the codes have been sent out. Presumably therefore those who redeem their codes are in effect accepting the alternative and are waiving their right to a refund, and Waggott hopes the number left over who can't/won't use I Follow and still seek recompense will be very small in number. I'm still not sure why if businesses small and large around the country and world can continue to operate remotely that the billionaire heads of an international conglomerate can't use Teams to tell their very well paid CEO what is happening. You'd think they would want kits and tickets on sale NOW to bring some much needed cash in. Yet here we are, club shop still shut, still getting rid of the left overs at £30 a time.

  5. Bell and Williams are like the Fiat 500 and Nissan Micra of left backs. You know that there are better available, but they are most likely out of our budget.... (Unless we can get an old Golf with low mileage on a cheap deal, for example).

  6. Bell is a third division player who is repeatedly exposed at this level. Cunningham is simply superior as a full back, either as a defender or on the overlap, and we really missed him.

  12. Or you could say he found it much easier picking passes when coming on 4-0 up against 10 men who had downed tools, than starts against sides going at full pelt...

  13. His dribbling is incredible, looks technically fantastic and a good balance. How people don't rate him is beyond me.

  14. Yep. And we haven't even offered the credit note either. (Yet) But even now its feeling like any concessions will only be given if enough people complain and the Club are shamed into offering something.

  16. Agreed. After the season finishes early August (play off final is 2nd Aug I think) there is the FA cup, Europa league & Champions league all scheduled for mid August. Think the Champions league Final is 23rd Aug. Then 3 weeks holday followed by pre-season. The longer they wait the more chance of having some fans back inside. October sounds right to me. The big unknown is if the virus has seasonality and in January we are back to square 1.

  18. I’m with you there Rev It feels like people who need to ask for refunds are going be feel a level of shame in doing so, it should be no questions asked A holiday we had was cancelled, travel republic sent an email with a form saying the default is a credit note but if we prefer a refund then tick this box, that was it and that’s all that needed to be done here Any pre season should be reduced, they’ve had a long break now so they don’t need as long as normal after 9 games

  19. Having read Waggott's comments in the Forum the more things start to make sense. I had questioned the legality of the club refusing refunds on season tickets and I suspect if anyone pushed it hard and long enough they would succeed. Obviously not worth the hassle for the sake of 50 to 60 quid back but I'm pretty sure the club would struggle to win. I think Waggott and his fellow Chairmen/CEO'S know this as they will have had expensive advice on the subject and as such we see slippery schemes unfolding like these. Most other clubs just accept their responsibilities and offer the refund as an option to be discouraged but reach a middle ground of a discount on renewals. Sadly Waggott doesn't have the authority to do such things so we take the middle road and annoy a lot of people without even an incentive to look forward to. So instead we get a poor and nasty statement effectively trying to convince the masses that 9 games on I Follow in exchange for 4 proper matches is a good deal, more than adequate and that anyone who seeks money back is in the wrong and putting the club at risk. The sort of language that would normally strike fear into any true, loyal caring fan of a football club. Shameful, in my opinion, using such language and effectively emotional blackmail. It all leaves a very bitter taste in the mouth about the way the club sees and treats its supporters. Waggott in his ivory tower will think he's acted entirely correctly and congratulate himself. Think he might be in for a shock when renewal time comes round.

  22. It looks like the next item for discussion on the agenda at the FF was Rovers branded face masks. Cracking idea. At the very least it should be possible to do one in blue and white halves. What was the response?

  23. Nah, not buying it. Sorry. I had a quick look through my tender list for work. During the Covid-19 lockdown I helped to secure over £10m worth of groundworks schemes, £3.5m brickwork scheme and a £1.2m ground remediation contract. I did this by remote working, zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams and generally a bit of endeavour from everyone. If a small construction surveying firm based in Shropshire can do that 'remotely' why can't business mogul Waggot and multi-national business moguls Venkys not sit down and discuss budgets? It's bullshit. Another excuse for why we will be once again behind the curve. As for the refund the club should be making it much easier to recieve a refund if required. There's no reason to wait 10 - 14 days, nor is there a reason for the customer to be approaching the producer for their money back. They should be making the process as easy and quick as possible because, for all of their financial difficulties, the man on the street is facing more.

  24. People have speculated, suggested and questioned rather than stated and it is a fair question. Theres an acceptance that these games are of course friendly but ita fair to question that even factoring in the players professionalism, how it may be difficult to play at exactly the same intensity considering the situation, the size of the break and the lack of supporters.

  25. I don’t see a way they can be as motivated as normal, no matter what in an empty stadium it’s going to feel like a friendly in their mind somewhere especially the first game or two

  26. I dont think either will be needed in the run in to be honest. We already have at least 4 strikers so may aswell let Samuel and Smallwood go now and hopefully save some much needed pennies.

  32. I am a season ticket holder and get to some away games and watch the majority of others live in full, but to be honest the Sheffield Wednesday game I only saw the highlights of. A reason for my post was to perhaps prompt examples in games or bits of games that I have missed to warrant people being so defensive and being hyperbolic in the case of Buckley. Or indeed remind me of times when he did something in a game I did see. The main point that I was trying to get across is being so defensive and refusing to accept that players have had minimal involvement in games so far, or going way over the top on them being "fantastic" and totally flabbergasted as to how anyone doesnt rate them is totally needless and not a constructive attitude to take. And equally, to tell someone who has acknowledged the mitigating circumstances/difficulties and not written the player off, indeed going out of their way to say as such, to "give them a chance" is not a useful or relevant comeback. In regards to Rankin Costello, as I said I didnt see the full game but saw his assist which was perfectly timed and there was also another pass just before in the highlights where it looked like he was trying to play in Gallagher but didnt get the direction quite right and it went behind his legs but ended up going through to Armstrong. It has been touched on that it was against a 10 man team waiting for the FT whistle, but still it takes the ability to make a pass like he did and I have credited him accordingly.

  33. This is the worst time in years to sell one of our key assets, in terms of the market. (Apart from when we were in league one) We would get far below the usual prices.

  34. From the recent Richie Sharpe tweet and the Joe H post on here about the Graham hat-trick, looks like the friendly was 3-2 to the team in the away kit , Rovers will be releasing footage of the goals later

  37. Can't help but feel as though giving some of the younger lads some 1st team action without the added pressure of a crowd, could be a nice way of ''dipping their toe'' into senior football. Obviously, I want us to make a run at the playoffs, but if we fail, I'd love to see the last home game (vs. Reading) lineup look like this: Fisher Nyambe - Lenihan - Carter - Thompson Davenport - Travis - Buckley Rankin Costello - Brereton - Chapman With a new season likely to start again in August, the increase to 5 subs and the spike in muscle injuries in the Bundesliga, I'd expect as soon as we're out of contention for a playoff spot, the lineups will get a little experimental!

  40. Ah that'll be because he hasn't really demonstrated any of that yet (well I'll give him the good balance). Average dribbling without the pace for it to matter, decent technically but far from fantastic (so far, at this level) and lightweight. As has been said, he's played out of position, still early etc, but I simply haven't seen anything yet to prove the level of hype he had in the u23s or, from some quarters, since. Bar odd brief glimpses. Hopefully he develops and shows what he is really about. I'd love little more than for him or any of our kids to shine.

  41. My feelings about this weekend’s match at this moment are of morbid curiosity. But I’m not worried, they will soon return to deep disappointment. If we can beat Bristol then all of a sudden things will get a lot more interesting. Of course... we won’t. But we might! The life of a Rovers fan.

  42. Simple question that needs putting to Waggott is to ask why were are different to 21 of the other 23 clubs in not offering refunds as an option. Either he's one step ahead of all the others, or he's falling short. I know which i reckon it is.
    1 point
  43. No, they definitely didn't. You have misunderstood my point. My Grandad isn't annoyed by the lack of refund because he's in the old-school category of supporting your club in the ground. He's 82 and has bigger worries than 50 quid. If the offer was given to him for a refund he wouldn't have took it. That doesn't mean the option shouldn't have been given to him though. There will be plenty of people out there, including myself, that see it as a consumer right that you should be offered an alternative to the live football game you have paid for. iFollow doesn't match the product you purchased hence why the refund should be on the difference in cost between the two. However, this idea that because you have iFollow you've been provided with your service is wrong. It doesn't cater for people who either aren't technology savvy or don't have internet access. So for that marginal group of people the Club have completely failed them. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, my Grandad has effectively been stolen from. He has no way of watching another game this season despite having paid for 23 games of football. The Club have no way of providing that service to him therefore the club should give him his money back. They aren't though because they are banking on him being the type of person he is. That's wrong. Put it this way, I don't think the owners before Venkys would have acted in the same way. It simply isn't the way Rovers fans should want their club to be run.

  44. It's still a business. Ideal scenario: Rovers do all they can by offering a full range of options including a refund. Fans recognise the Club are doing their best and no-one asks for a refund. Obviously in practice a few would ask for a refund but the way we've gone about it seems the worst possible approach to me. As for "future offers" what future offers? I'm not aware of any to press. It seems to me that the Club are dipping their toes in the water and seeing if they can get away with it and will only grudgingly offer any sort of concession if people kick up enough fuss. All very grubby and unseemly looking and completely lacking in class.

  45. That 2-0 win at Ashton Gate was probably the highlight of Mowbray's season- one game he definitely out thought the opposition. Putting this as a Must WIN for our Play-Off hopes based on the remaining fixtures after it. Lose and the season is over as soon as it has restarted. Away teams are doing extremely well in German fixtures behind closed doors.

  46. I IMO yes he’s ready, he’s played quite abit of championship football and I’ve been watching him when he was at city in the youth set up. He also impressed me when he made his debut for us. I don’t rate Evans and he has had enough opportunities to impress. Evans is mediocre at best and if we are to move forward players like Evans need to go. Davenport , like travis, could bring a freshness to the team and is no worse than Evans and worth the gamble if you want to call it that. We signed him to be pushing players like Evans out, give him a proper run of games and I believe he would be a far better option than Evans . Just needs a chance

  49. How on earth is it "judgemental" to state a fair opinion that a player did not have an impact on 2 games he started on?! He didnt! If I had said "he doesnt deserve any more chances" "he will never be good enough" etc then youd have a point but I quite clearly stated that theres plenty of time for him yet. If we are at a situation where you cannot point out when a player has no impact on a game then we really are in a sticky situation.
