  1. The same Luton that beat us too, at Ewood. Huddersfield just above relegation zone, the same huddersfield that took 4 points off rovers. Charlton, if they lose, just one point off bottom 3, the same charlton that won at ewood. Birmingham just abover relegation zone, the same Birmingham that took 4 points off rovers. Boro bottom 3, same Boro that took a point at ewood. Stoke just above bottom 3, same stoke that took a point at ewood. Wigan going down, same wigan that took 4 points off Rovers, what a trend.

  3. I too would like to see them both under a different manager. Preferably at a different club.

  4. Well. Well. Danny Graham and Adam Armstrong > Brereton and Gallagher. Who'd have thought it? Graham has been criminally written off and underused this season.

  5. Potentially as many 5 players starting tonight who will not contracted to the club in a months time. Why is he so afraid to have a look at under 23's players and see if they could save him dipping into the transfer market.

  6. Out of all the decisions I’m most annoyed about Johnson ahead of Davenport

  7. Not aimed at you specifically chaddy but we hear a lot of this sort of thing "Give him the summer transfer window and reassess in October/November" When we get to November it's "Give him the January transfer window" When we do nothing in Jan and subsequently fall off the edge of a cliff it's "Only ten games to go, no point sacking him now". And on and on it goes. We and he need putting out of our misery.

  8. Typical Rovers under Mowbray. Play yourselves out of contention then just pull out a result when it's too late to make the overall picture look half way respectable.

  9. What Mowbray sees when he looks at Brereton Gallagher & Doms

  10. It amazes me how as a former centre back, how much Mowbray ignores the defence as a manager.

  14. Pretty much every other club has had them on sale for months. With thousands sold and millions in the bank for those clubs at a time when cash flow is vital. Our cash flow on the other hand will be pretty much zero. Who has the right approach Chaddy? Rovers, who have to get everything signed off late in the summer in an annual meeting halfway across the world, or pretty much every other Championship club who have proactively engaged their supporters and got them and their cash signed up early?

  15. It is like the Mowbray benevolent fund for stray footballers at times. They've nursed Gladwin through 2 years of wages then an extra 6 months whilst he got himself ready to walk into MK Dons first team. We've nursed Samuel who's goal return is that of a full back virtually into a new contract so he can pick up where he left off as one of Tonys hopeless projects. We've let Mulgrew and Wigan have a look at each other then come back here to sit on the nice comfy bench resting his old legs until something lucrative and appealing comes along. Then there's Smallwood who's had footballers wages for 12 months whilst probably learning to be a bibs and cones man in the back ground, Then unbelievably he gets a little extension to do naff all for an extra month except keep his name in the frame for a new deal. Then there's Chapman who nobody else would have given a proper contract to given his injury issues. A player who he won't touch with a barge pole now. God knows what else is going on but all this is money down the toilet then when it comes to stretching the wages for a fresh keeper there'll be nothing. The piss is being taken again would he get away with this type of stuff at his beloved Boro with Gibsons hard earned ?

  16. Let’s see what happens with this ‘European scouting network’, two years they’ve been banging on about it and we must still have the most British and Irish squad in the league...

  17. Bang on. It seems at some point in the last 5-10 years the ideal football manager template has completely changed. Once upon a time it was go and appoint the best qualified man for the role with the best track record and let him get on with getting results however he sees fit. It seems due to a combination of Brentford envy, influx of foreigners, people on their laptops playing football manager and the age Old desire to 'bring through the youngsters' that nowadays different is better. If you are foreign, untried, untested, have worked in a youth team or have a reputation for nice football you are ideal. If you are British, over the age of 50, been around numerous clubs and focus on short term results then no good. Some people never learn. Including our owners.

  18. So there are "4 or 5 serious offers for Wigan", yet there's enough people out there who would have you believe that nobody could ever possibly take us on if that glorious day of Venkys leaving ever happened. Do me a favour.

  19. I think it's going to be a make the best of what you've got summer i'm fully prepared for that. It won't be great but if we manage to retain most if not all the best players it needn't be a disaster. The transition to ball retention nonsense needs binning off and we need to go to being a team who wants to get as many points as possible as quickly as possible. The deadwood and silly human angle needs binning off as well sorry if that's blunt to those easily offended by that's the reality of it. Save some cash by finally ousting the under achievers and put faith in the youth. No way will this squad on the pitch miss Mulgrew. Smallwood, Samuel and they'll just have to cope about the place not having them there draining thousands per week to be nice lads. Pathetic talk that is from the manager grow a pair of bollocks. The strive for stability will rule again next season so we'll have to lump it. If there's a fire sale we are going down and only a McCarthy of Pulis might stop it.

  20. Raya dropped an odd, but yeah, a usually big howler. Walton is letting a soft goal in every other game. Plus, Raya was a young keeper full of potential learning his trade, and he was OURS. So I was comfortable with the odd clanger. Instead we’ve sold him for a pittance, he’ll be sold for at least treble what we got when Brentford cash in. And we get lumbered with a bang average stopper who costs us a load of points and then buggers off in a few weeks, leaving us with no first team keeper (assuming Leuts goes too) at all. Piss poor planning for such a vital position, but we can at least be grateful that his fee paid for half of Sam Gallagher.

  21. Ha! ‘The wider football world’, do me a favour! Nobody in football does a bad job, the pundits on Sky and his fellow managers will have been lauding Lee Johnson for the ‘great job he’s done’... until they’re sacked, then it’s ‘yeah it was probably time to freshen it up there’. Jobs for the boys.

  22. That's absolute nonsense. There is never a bad time for a £170m cash injection. I wouldn't care if we got tanked every week.

  23. £12m spent on striking "talent" and Golden Graham is still the only capable forward at the club. Shocking.

  24. Fantastic win by Rovers. Travis was outstanding tonight. That's performance was him at his best. Rankin Costello was very good at left back and his reading of the game was good throughout the game. Proved tonight why he should be part of this 1st team squad. Johnson second half was good. Chasing, heading and getting forward. The front 3 were good and Armstrong's goal was magnificent and a goal that deserve to win that game. Their movement were good all night. in such a happy mood!

  25. This just reaffirms my belief he doesn't actually want us to get promoted....He just keeps us on the cusp so he can claim he's doing a decent job...

  26. Nope wrong. We expect Nyambe to mark 2 people so that we can play wide Strikers. Nyambe had his man marked he just can't mark two people.

  31. Absolute madness. No matter the result, what can we learn playing Johnson, Graham, Samuel and Downing with Buckley and Davenport subs, Rankin Costello out of position and Chapman left out all together. Using the youngsters my arse.

  32. Unfortunately for us, 23 other Chief Execs and managers don’t need to be patient as they’ll have had months of discussion over budgets, so they’ll be having their usual headstart, whilst we wait for Pune to lift its lockdown and Venky’s to Covid-Secure their offices...

  34. “I would prefer to control the game, my teams over 20 years have mainly controlled games, yet at this club we didn’t have the players, in my opinion, to control football matches so we had to find a way of trying to win to get out of the trouble that we were in." So by your logic Tone, you've been here for 17.5% of your career and in that time you've had SIX transfer windows. Yet we don't have good enough players and lose 3 on the spin playing your "controlled football". Turn that pointed finger around mate. Shit like this should be you signing your own P45... if anyone in the club was listening/not your best mate. Which they're not.

  35. What if a new manager came in and didnt rate those young players highlighted? Would he still be obliged to use them? If our next manager was told implicitly that he had to play the youngsters, and we dropped from mid table where we are currently to nearer the relegation zone, would you be like "at least hes playing the kids?" Would you balls, youd be thinkingvwhy does he keep losing. Its a load of rubbish. Perfect example is Middlesbrough. They had a manager in Pulis who focuses on results at all costs, style etc very much secondary. That being said, he didnt totally abandon the thought of academy players and brought Lewis Wing through, playing him regularly, and Tavernier on occasion. He went at the end of the season, people fell for the idea of passing football and kids throughout the team, they had players like Pears in goal who made mistakes but he had to play kids so their 1m goalkeeper sat on the bench, they dropped like a stone, had to get rid of the young manager and go and appoint Warnock who is right back to the Pulis type of manager focusing solely on results.

  36. Read Mowbray's comments today and weep. I think we are back in late Bowyer/Paul Lambert territory with a wall of silence from India, no communication and likely no budget. Mowbray isn't completely daft and will know what to expect. His comments are to me of a man who is preparing the fanbase for an unpleasant summer with little to no money. I spent all last summer complaining about using the loan market to fill crucial positions like GK and CB. I was worried back then that we would face this situation yet many told me I was overreacting and there was nothing wrong with using loans if it saved us money. Well here we are. The spine of the team set to depart, a manager who is a failure in the transfer market and owners who are back to not communicating.

  37. If we are so far down their list of priorities that they can't even find the time in their diaries to hold a conference call to allocate budgets for next year then they simply have to go. If they have so little interest that we have to wait months for any communication then we need new owners. We aren't a video game that can go.in the drawer for a few months until they have the time to play with it. We are a multi million pound professional football club in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. I very much doubt a recent injection of shares represents them taking any interest. Rather I suspect it is essential equity to enable the bills to be paid and will have attracted minimal attention from the top dogs in India. I appreciate there are many issues for them to deal with and their.core business needs looking at but I can't believe the efforts some go to in order to try and normalise what is unacceptable.

  38. The usual win once the pressure is off. 34 year old DG still our best striker which is obviously worrying. We desperately need a new keeper this summer. Please don't let Gallagher or Bennett start again for the rest of the season. Happy for Rothwell to sit out the remainder as well tbh.

  39. There was definitely fire in a few bellies tonight - particularly Travis and Armstrong. Maybe the thought of not having Brereton in the side for a couple of games. No way would he have followed in the shit that Graham did. As is always the case with Mowbray, it’s not why happened tonight but what he does next. My money is on him picking another Tombola side as soon as he can.

  42. Typical Mowbray to pull off a win like this after a rubbish run of results. Changes nothing really because as always it gives false hope

  43. All I can think is how did we come away from Wigan and Barnsley with 0 points. We’re going to beat West Brom and Millwall then bottle it to Reading/Luton aren’t we

  44. Yes Danny!! BB/Gally/Samuel would have put that wide.

  46. Bloody hell chaddy if tickets went on sale tomorrow I'd buy one to help the Club out.As roversfan99 says It doesn't matter if most wouldn't, if we only managed to sell 1k now it's 350k we wouldn't otherwise have had at a time when our income is zero. And........if sales plummet it's going to be primarily down to Mowbray and the rubbish we're watching on the pitch as opposed to people's personal circumstances as you suddenly seem to be pretending.

  47. Our losses are happening because the model of English football is built in a way that teams are that desperate to reach the Premier League they are willing to sacrifice huge losses in order to get there. The proposal of having fan representation isn't including that and sticking with the status quo. Just look into what goes on in German football and how the small clubs are better protected against dodgy ownership (see 1860 Munich for example; see Hoffenheim for how they decided who was the right man). You have half an argument for the decrease of quality that may come from it; you have no point in defending the state of modern english football. You are seemingly more interested in protecting the integrity of modern football than you are in ensuring the true shareholders of the clubs (fans) are given representation and voting rights of the club they financially support for the entirety of their lives. It's a strange stance for a football fan to take. If we had fan ownership in this country Bury would still be operating, Wigan wouldn't be into administration and we'd have never had the early Venky-years. What we would have had though is the Jack Walker years because ultimately could you see a fan of the club saying no to that model? Owners will still have rights to say how their money is spent. Again though, you are a Rovers fan, and such a rule protects the club from external investors, so what is your beef with it? ?
    4 points
  48. Just remember how they laughed at us. That is all I am saying. This is further proof - if we as fans ever needed it - that the EFL are not fit to run the English game. Off shore bets, dodgy international mystery men - all sounds very very similar doesn't it? Unfortunately for Wigan they were a less sophisticated scam than ourselves but make no mistake about it Rovers suffered similar fates, and probably would have been wound up in a similar circumstance hadn't so much of a fuss been kicked up. We had a very, very dodgy relegation under Coyle not so long back. Mass sales, no investment, a last-minute u-turn from a promotion chasing manager to a shyster. Do you not think there was sums of money in the middle / far East put on that outcome? I think in our early days a lot of people made a lot of money out of us. I think they still do, with the signing on fees and agent involvement in almost every facet of the club. This is further proof that fans should have a 51% stake in the club at all times. If benevolent super-rich elites really want to blow their money on the 'pride' of the towns and cities they claim to represent then they would still do so if only running on 49%, surely? The truth is that most clubs these days are loss making enterprises for a reason - no rich person ever got rich by throwing millions down the drain every single year.
    4 points
  49. That doesn't make sense. How can the club owe them money when they own the club? Its called investment, good or poor, and in their case its been very poor from day 1. They ain't getting their money back unless we get promoted, thats why they are still here. Nobody would buy the club at the purchase price they would need to cover their bad investments, so they will have to concede defeat at some point if we stay in this division or worse. If they put it into administration they still wont get their money and someone will buy it for a song. Are Chelsea in debt to Abramovich? Bury is a bad example as they owed the tax man and the banks.
    4 points
  50. Absolutely spot on. Sadly there is large portion of our fan base who thing we should just be pathetically grateful they haven’t decided to wind the club up yet.
