  1. Probably an unpopular opinion but...If Wigan have to offload players and we are looking for a midfielder, I wouldn't be against trying to get Sam Morsy. Nasty little bastard. Just what we need. To be fair he also weighed in with 3 goals and 3 assists, which is better than our usual midfield return.

  2. The real problem highlighted here is Mowbrays penchant for awarding contracts and committing the club's money with, in a lot of cases no return. Platt was another example. Most people were shocked when he got a new two year deal last season. After one Carabou Cup match he was sent to Barrow. Similarly Smallwood, Hart, Leutwiler, Gladwin and Mulgrew must have cost the club a significant amount of money.

  3. Did you also ask them why relatively rich footballers like Smallwood were granted contract extensions even though we had no need of them, if the club are in such a poor financial position that relatively poor supporters can't even be granted a comparatively minor refund for something they bought in good faith?

  4. Walton is still crap though? ?‍♂️

  5. Now that would make complete sense and highlights the way the do things. The way i said the other week complete scattergun arse about tit. Going into a window needing a keeper and defenders then hearing somebody else in a different position you know and like is available & doable. So altering everything to accommodate that instead which is exactly what i heard about the Bauer thing and you can probably lump Gallagher into that system as well. No real logic to it at all just grab what you can whilst you can it's not hard to see why set ups like Preston out perform us every season.

  6. If anyone is offering us any money for him the snap their hands off.

  7. Whiteman update, met Tony last Wednesday....they want him but not before they've bought a goalie and a left back. Midfield is the 3rd priority. If there is 2m left over we will put a bid in. We have a pot of money. Derby are very interested too. The player wants the championship, not necessarily Rovers. 2m gets the player.

  8. I'd be happier if they wanted Tony from Blackburn.

  10. Tosin a shoe in to come back? What makes you believe that? Seen nothing to suggest Tosin will be coming back here and he has had 2 years in the championship surely wants to test himself at higher level

  11. Travis wasn't trusted when we were in League 1. So what does that say? For a long time Bennett was trusted at full back over Nyambe. What does that say? Harrison Reed wasn't trusted in the centre of midfield over Evans or Smallwood. What does that say? To me it says that we have a manager who cannot spot talented players when they are right in front of him.

  12. I would like the last 90 minutes of my life back... what an abysmally dull game of football.

  13. Agents on holiday during a transfer window ? Really ? !

  14. ‘On their holidays’. Didn’t realise it was 1990? Hopefully TM’s hotel has a phone he can use...

  15. Yeah, Rich Sharpe. He hasn't had a response.

  16. Exactly. Season tickets come out now , people buy tickets then it is announced that no fans in stadium until November or further on. Then people would be complaining about refunds etc and wanting the club to sort it out asap. Surely the most sensible option is the one the club is doing waiting until the authorities come up with a plan as to when and how many supporters will be allowed in the ground.

  17. The guy is terminally indecisive. You only have to look at the fact that he still hasn't settled on a way of playing and his best eleven after 3 full seasons to realise that. Dean Saunders told a story about Brian Clough. Saunders had been to Cloughie's house to discuss a move. He told Cloughie he'd need to talk it over with his wife. He set off for home in his car, when he got there he found Cloughie sat on his couch smooth talking Saunders wife about the move !

  18. I can't see us being able to retain 4 or 5 centre halves all of whom are considered to be nailed on first team players. If we get 3 we'll be doing well. We'll always need a couple of fringe players that can fill in there from time to time. Until I see evidence to the contrary I can't see why Wharton shouldn't be given a chance to be one of those players.

  19. What they doing on holiday then?

  20. He's the best keeper we've had since Robinson, he's one of the best keepers in the championship, and he's 24. Find me that for 3 million.

  21. I just be watching a different game. Reed and Cairney have dominated the midfield and kept Fulham going forward at every possible opportunity.

  22. I’ve no genuine sympathy for them on account of how their fans have been with us in the past, but they’ve every right to feel aggrieved with their deduction applying this season and Sheffield Wednesday’s being applied next....

  23. Missed opportunity for the club is this. I’d sign up for a season ticket tomorrow if it meant helping the club out, regardless of how many matches I was ultimately able to attend and many others are the same.

  25. Good window - we can make the playoffs Bad window - we may well get relegated Mediocre window - another year of mediocrity

  26. Refusing to play Harrison Reed in centre mid still winds me up. Didnt know his position like smallwood does but one didnt play a league game all season and one is about to start a playoff final.

  29. Funny you mention anniversaries, it’s our 150th in 2025. I look back to the 125th, when we were also a Championship club, yet that’s where the similarities with the present set up ends. The team played in a special vintage kit against Wolves that you could buy, there were commemorative books, a parade of legendary players from pre war to some of the title winning side, etc etc. 150 years for a founder member and a club with such a rich heritage should mean an even bigger effort, a real occasion. But does anybody expect anything apart from maybe a banner on the big screen? I can cope with an average team, that’s football, it’s the neglect that really saddens me.

  30. 'Making moves' can be done without having a budget. As I suggested last week my opinion is, assuming the information about targets is correct, that Mowbray is approaching things in reverse order, hoping to get his ducks in a row ready for the approval to come through from India eventually. He can target whoever he likes and even have tentative discussions with them but it is very different to cash changing hands. We are good at talking. Its the doing part we struggle with. But I am also very apprehensive and cynical about these supposed targets and how much truth there Is in them given the whereabouts of senior staff and information we have been given.

  31. Hahaha, Raya is so bad Parker had Bryan practice that freekick in training "he comes ridiculously far off his line". Bloody hell - wasn't even a spur of the moment thing.
    3 points
  32. Irrelevant. Walton is still shite wether Raya makes a mistake or not
    3 points
  33. Would be wary of gloating, Raya is still quality for his age and would have quite possibly have got us into the playoffs this year. He's been a net positive for Brentford in terms of points by all accounts.
    3 points
  34. Good strike from Bryan but no keeper at this level should be beaten like that. He does though, as we have seen many times have something like that in his locker.

  35. Given the absolute car crash that has been Venkys reign its hardly surprising people are sceptical of rumours on a message board. Get a grip.
    3 points
  36. Do you not reckon promotion should trump all of those things though? It’s a big risk to get a rookie in over someone who’s been there, done that and obtained the t-shirt.... Again, just because the Bristol City board want something, doesn’t mean it’s the right or most logical thing....

  37. I suppose what I’m saying from a personal point of view is that I’d be willing to pay for a full season ticket (imagine crowds were allowed as normal), then use a streaming link while it is still behind closed doors. Then there could be tiers of what fans could choose- I.E a streaming one for now, or no streams and then when fans are allowed in, to be able to attend matches. (With different costs, obviously).

  38. Chaddy first tells us not to worry as pre-season is two weeks away. Then he tells us not to worry because the season start is way off. According to chaddy nothing has happened because everyone is on their holidays.I wonder how long he'll stick to that excuse. I wonder how other clubs have managed to make signings in such circumstances. How for example did our transfer out of Matty Platt get done? The club's policy is 'even better don't say anything'. Perhaps chaddy can tell us: if Mowbray now knows his transfer budget if he believes any players will be signed before pre-season starts if we have to sell players before we can bring anyone in

  40. Cheers. They have handled this appallingly.

  41. I'm holding back with that one for now if they play hard ball. At the same time I will ask why the team flew to Cardiff recently at a cost of £30k (I heard from a good source).

  43. Surely it's clubs like Rovers who won't even sell 20% of their capacity who SHOULD have them on sale, and clubs like Everton who will have sold more than can get in the ground that shouldn't?

  44. Overdramatic? Pot and kettle You are one of the biggest tantrum-ers on the site! But you’re damn right, I’m very upset about the neglect of this club this past decade (note past) and that’s why I have little hope for future initiatives, in a way I envy younger fans like yourself that knows little else but this stripped down operation.

  45. So yet again defence is neglected at the expense of other areas...and we wonder why we ship goals.. There should only be one priority at Ewood -strengtgen the defence/keeper. We have reasonable academy cover in other areas of the pitch but nobody stands out in defence - especially full back areas.

  46. You said “the main issue, is that he’s crap” so which one is it, is he crap or not.
    3 points
  47. Actually, I can't speak for his previous clubs, but Northampton have made it clear they absolutely do want to take him in League One.
    3 points
  48. Appreciate you doing the analysis but those graphs are pretty misleading. You’ve got the bars for Wharton set to intervals of 10, while Lenihan is 20, and Tosin and Goode are 25. It makes it look like Wharton is far better in the stats than he actually is.

  49. Difficult to say right now but, unless we sign some good players that have a burning desire to properly challenge for promotion and who won't settle for second best, I'd just expect more of the same. We've got some good players here (albeit there are a few gaps in the team now) but having never entered the top 6 with our current bunch, I'd be surprised if we ever did without a real shake-up and mentality change. And as it doesn't look like Mowbray's going anywhere anytime soon, that'd have to come from the players. Provided we don't sell any of our better players, we know this team and manager can give us WDL most of the time (plus strong runs of form followed by poor ones) so I'd just expect more of that.
