  1. We can only hope that one day someone invents some way of communicating with people half way across the world without having to get on a plane.

  2. It really should be a bannable offence to come on here and extol the virtues of Venkys after what they've done to this once-proud club.

  3. So your argument is: The worse Mowbray does, the more indispensable he becomes! Love it! ?

  4. What stood out to me is the formation in the top right being in the shape of an arrow pointing to where our weak point is!

  6. If Dack and Armstrong make up for Brereton and Gallagher then who makes up for: Samuel, Bell, Whittingham , Paul Downing, Gladwin , Hart, Walton, Chapman, Davenport , bizarre contract extensions and selling Raya on the cheap?

  7. So the search is to be stepped up. My god. 12 months after selling our keeper, a month on from waving off our loan and benchwarmer, pre season on Saturday and 3 weeks away from the big kick off and we are stepping up the search. Coincidence that this has only happened now that Mowbray is back from his holiday and at Brockhall? I think not. So amateurish its almost unbelievable. Can anything happen without Mowbray running it?

  8. While a CM should be bottom or our priority list, that tweet about Whiteman sums us up perfectly. Three clubs have bid while Blackburn are looking at him.

  10. I was reading a quote in today's paper from Ronald Koeman - " We're Dutch, we don't fear putting kids in, we're used to doing that. I always say that when I have one player who is 30 and another who's 22 playing at the same level, I will play the 22-year-old because he's the future ". Our guy seems to work the other way around.

  12. Difference is PNE didn't spunk £12M on misfits firing blanks, nor are they in a massive financial black hole, additionally they don't have key positions with gaping holes due to the transfer policy

  13. haha, the bloke is an absolute clown.

  14. It's a poor do, no it's absolutely criminal, that you can have a sneak preview couple of months of a season, six transfer windows, not have to sell any players, have a youth academy pumping out stars, spend £15 million on strikers, not have to worry about results, have the nucleus of a decent team and STILL need a rebuilding job after 3 years. I mean I really don't understand how you get to that position. I'm not sure it's that easy to do if you deliberately try to do. I mean this is beyond careless and incompetent, it's inexcusable.

  17. If Mowbray came out and said “We don’t need a dedicated goalie. We can have rush keepers. Everyone will have a turn, and we will change after every goal” every right thinking person would be up in arms. You’d say “Well we don’t play with a keeper” and dismiss out of hand anyone suggesting we Should sign one. You have completely proven my point with your reply.

  18. Absolute disgrace..does anyone give a toss anymore down there? I would sack someone for that level of negligence,no way acceptable! ?

  20. It’s always the way. Season after season the fan concept kits outdo the real thing. They possibly make the disappointment even more acute. The club should be getting these fans to submit their designs and then work with a smaller company to produce them. Instead we devolve the decision making to some Umbro or Nike corporate suits who have read a few books and think that having red and black two seasons in a row is “commercial suicide”. These people don’t know their audience. Basically, it’s that season’s shirt replica, ‘fans would buy it if looked like a Tesco carrier bag’. Sadly those in charge at the club seem to think the same way.

  21. But they did sell nearly £40 Million worth of players. This is where Mowbray has had an advantage over practically every manager in the division over the last 2 seasons, he has had good money to spend and has been allowed to keep all of his key players. Very few managers get the opportunity to do both of those.

  22. @chaddyrovers anything in the Lancs Live will very much be a junior journalist rehashing what is already in the public domain. Wouldnt pay too much notice in that. I mean, that Russian keeper is a rumour from here!

  23. Venkys have backed mowbray for the last 3 years! 12 million on Gallagher and Brereton last year plus paying wages for a bloated squad! That money could and should have been spent wisely in purchasing a GK and CB these two positions were just as much a priority last summer as they are today! Now with the impact of coronavirus I wouldn't blame venkys for tightening the belt. If fans are looking to vent or point a finger of blame it should be in tony mowbray direction!

  24. Quite a few ex Rovers at Stuart’s funeral, Duggie,Faz, Beamo,Jonny Byrom, Gordon Taylor, his best mate at Rovers Kevin Hird, John Kenyon and a few fringe players.

  25. More shit from Sherlock. I've given up. Feckwits and shitheads rule the Club.
    5 points
  26. “Mowbray feels Rovers are at a rebuilding phase” No shit Sherlock! Failure whitewashed and we start again. How many managers would love to be in Mowbray’s privileged position? Never gets the blame, losses covered, accountable only to himself. The current favourite excuse in the LT comments section is now “you can’t blame Mowbray for Covid-19”. ??‍♂️

  27. You don't need to flat out state your gratitude for the Venky's. It's implicit every time you make excuses for them.

  28. You spread straight propaganda on Nyambe...for such a "superfan" i guess youve never noticed that when allowed he has skinned many a lb only to see his crosses unanswered in the box.....but jeep spouting the company line...

  29. They were sold a high functioning PL football club. They've turned it into a lemon - thanks to bad advice and lethargy. I'm a forgiving bloke, so I'd forgive them being taken in by a conman immediately after purchasing the club - although it's embarrassing - but to let the club slide to the state it's currently in? Unforgivable. How you have a club being run solely by Waggott and Mowbray is ridiculous. Where's the structure? Where's the accountability? You're literally just throwing money away - it must be an ego thing as to why they don't cut their losses as clearly they have no interest in the club. I shudder to think how they run their other businesses.

  30. I don't know either, but I don't think they deserve praise for simply paying the bills. That is the responsiblity they took on when they bought the club - and a lot of the money they have been forced to pay out has been due to their own rank bad management of the club.

  31. I bet you there’s a fair few ex directors of Rovers that would disagree with your comments there. They’re lazy when it comes to us. We are archaic, and under their watch we become less and less an operating club and more of a stagnant cash black hole. All this ask and you shall get rubbish is a load of shite if you ask me. Look at the DROSS that has gone through our doors since they have been here - you think they’d have happened if it was a “get what you want” kinda deal?

  32. That's one way to shoehorn Benno into the side.

  33. That’s disgraceful. Waggott should be ashamed and embarrassed.

  34. Nobody has disputed that we don’t play with wingers and that our full backs provide width. You haven’t pointed out anything to anybody they didn’t already know, you have used this point as an argument as to why signing a winger would be a bad idea. Whenever anyone mentions a winger you regurgitate that line again and again as if it is and must be completely set in stone that we can’t possibly have a wide midfielder. Other people question the fact. You are so eager to form all your opinions based on what Mowbray will most likely do, he’s become infallible in your mind. What it really highlights is that we go into games with no balance whatsoever. Nyambe is often expected to do the work of three players (see below). I know you are going to go on about his lack of goals and assists (how many corners has he ever gone up for by the way), completely ignoring the fact that he is probably the best player we have for getting us up the pitch, or the fact that he often runs the length of the pitch, overtaking whichever striker is playing in front of him while they stand around dawdling on the edge of the box.

  36. Probably "wow, we actually spent some money on buying a defensive player and it made us more solid and pushed us closer to promotion"
    4 points
  37. The difference is they will be battling Norwich for automatic promotion, have a new stadium, cash in the bank, brilliant scouting and development setup and are already filling the gaps they have in the squad. We are heading into the season hoping to get 10th and most probably going on a winless streak halfway through the season, giving us all worries about relegation.
    4 points
  38. I'm sure you'd say the same if Mowbray lost a playoff final. Finishing 11th was considered a watershed moment.

  39. I'm not really sure anyone does at Ewood anyway. Most of the match going folk I come across will shout you down if you ever dare criticise Mowbray. The only slight murmurs of discontent i can recall were during the Barnsley game in November.
    4 points
  40. Ah, so we've seamlessly gone from 'slow build' to 'rebuild'.
    4 points
  41. Funny you say that. Looks like Mowbray is ignoring him too.

  42. Anyone who thought Venkys were going to make money available this summer was in dream world. No match day income since March and no prospect of any coming soon. We also don’t know how their businesses have been hit by the virus lockdowns. It’s the way it is. Rubbish but inevitable.
    4 points
  43. The thing with Dack is that he has a more proven track record of being able to score regular goals over a longer period.
    4 points
  44. Yeah, well, he doesn't help himself with crap like that when there has been glaringly obvious holes in the team that need plugged for years now. Yes, of course don't waste money on inferior players, desperate buys just for the sake of it. That would wash for 1 window, maybe 2. We're getting to 4 and 5 now. If the money is there, then spend it on a stunningly woeful defence....with zero strength in depth. Where might we be if that had been done.
    3 points
  45. On that basis, you wouldn't want any of these five (Stegen, Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba) who were Barca's defence when Bayern stuck eight in.............!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/keiren-westwood-sheffield-wednesday-championship-18802356.amp?__twitter_impression=true Even if he is close to being 36, I would definitely take him here. Maybe with someone like a Pears type ready to take over. Either way, all for someone of that type of experience. Main worry would be thats hes not played north of 20 games in any of the last 3 seasons.
    3 points
  47. We didn’t have to, because our keeper made plenty of gaffes post lockdown that meant we weren’t in contention.

  48. So having narrowly missed out on the play offs they're "bottle merchants" whereas we're doing just fine stagnating in mid table snack bang middle of the road to nowhere? End of term report for the Board's chief wind up merchant: "MP is prolific in his output but is running out of ideas and originality. Must try harder!"
    3 points
  49. What exactly are Mowbray and his players then? Just not very good?
