  1. It's the lack of communication from the club that angers me. One of my "lockdown jobs" has been to get my collection of sporting - mainly BRFC, obviously - programmes into some proper order, rather than just living in boxes, as they have done for far too long. I mention that because I had forgotten that I had very few programmes from the 2011/12 and the 2012/13 seasons. And that was because I was boycotting the club because of its ownership. But I could also identify with the PNE fan on the link from Lancashire Live. In a way, Ewood's been my spiritual home since the late 1950s and I've always sung "Rovers till I die" fervently. I came to more games from 2013/14 and remember mentioning to a friend I bumped into before one match that season on the now-disgraceful concourse to the Blackburn End that I felt that I'd "come home." And so I bought another season ticket and faithfully renewed it, even though my dependence on public transport means I don't get home from a Saturday match till about 7.15; and I almost never come to a midweek game because it'd be midnight - far too late for this old beggar to be out! - before I got home. But love for a football team - like any kind of love - surely requires a a degree of reciprocity from the object of your affections. And I'm sorry, but I'm just not feeling it from Rovers any more. One of the rhetorical questions I've been asking myself recently is, "What does Waggott actually DO for whatever salary he receives from our owners?" Am I wrong to expect that the unspoken contract between the club and me requires him - or somebody on his behalf - to let me know what their plans are for the coming season? I take the point that some have made on here about Bolton Wanderers; but at least we've seen on here how they, and PNE, and Stanley have, for better or worse, communicated with their fans. So it's a very disillusioned Rovers fan who's beginning to come to terms with apparently being given the boot by the object of his affections over the years. Like I said, "I'm Rovers till I die"; I just wish they loved me as much as I love them.

  2. If your creed in life is to just ‘see the positives’, an ‘it’ll be reight’ approach then good luck to you. However, others like to use past experiences and evidence to form their views, indeed that is how individuals, teams, businesses improve. Just ‘expecting things to turn out fine in the end’ due to cod philosophical views like the ‘laws of attraction‘ etc isn’t the way multi million pound outfits get better results . Ergo painting those that turn a critical eye on an internet message board with about 40 regular posters as ‘damaging to Blackburn Rovers’ and we’d see better results on the pitch if this obscure place we waste our time on was merely ‘Rovers, ra ra ra’, is not only nonsensical, as ALL posters on here are desperate for us to do well, but also ruins debate.

  3. Is he the only likely looking left back in the whole of Western Europe ? Surely there must be other players out there ? I suppose he could keep Dack company on the road back to full fitness. Nyambe is prone to muscle type injuries, Lenihan usually has a month out with a knock or a suspension. Williams rarely goes for too long without picking up some mystery injury. Then you have Evans and Holtby who if you're lucky might play 46 games between them. Up front Chapman is another one just coming back from a serious injury. I'd rather sign a player that is 100%fit and ready for action when we sign him and make some space in the treatment room.

  4. I’ve seen Naby Sarr’s name mentioned today, if Kipre doesn’t happen I wouldn’t be against us signing him. Extremely popular with Charlton supporters. He’s not technically gifted but he’s 6 foot 5 and is a solid defender, forget playing out from the back, Toisin was amazing on the ball but for me the first thing you want from a Centre half is for them to win tackles and head the ball away, Sarr is capable in that regard I believe. Free agent as well so it’s a no brainer.

  10. Sadly, IMO, the club has lost virtually all its spark and appeal. I can't see any imagination, initiative or excitement. I think Waggott and Mowbray are as dull as ditchwater and therein lies a huge part of the problem.

  12. For our sake, Kipre needs to stop messing around and sign for either club. If it's West Brom, then fine we can all understand that, but just get on with it. If his agent is playing games, then Cedric should tell him to stop it. Terms have been offered by both clubs, now decide.

  13. Is walking or driving through filth going to attract new visitors to Ewood Park? New sponsors to associate their company and bring their clients on match day? We've enough difficulties nearby with the horrific council and their schemes along Alan Shearer way, dragging the area down and making it an unpleasant place to visit, the least Rovers can do is keep the ground and entrances in good condition. The fact that it took photos going online and uproar to shame them into taking action is the problem here. Looking after your area doesn't stop on the boundaries of your property. How many people on here would be comfortable with garbage piling up on the pavement outside your house and do nothing about it because it should be up to the council to sort? I know in most decent neighbourhoods people would take some pride and responsibility for it and get it shifted.

  14. Morsy would be a great shout. Just what we’ve missed for a years. A proper hard man. Who cares if he’s not popular.

  15. It's time they changed back then. I remember my grandma colouring the front door step with a donkey stone. Not only that but council-owned paving flags that abutted her house as well. There's a playing field at the back of me. The council cut it. But I strim the part that they cannot cut right up to my fence. I also clear the weeds from the road gutter in front of my house because the street sweeper cannot get them all up. I'm proud of where I live and want to keep it looking tidy. Rovers should do the same.

  16. I think we all know what positions we need to strengthen but I think we also need to get some leaders on the pitch. We are woefully lacking characters. Danny Graham didn't play that often but he had a presence which I think encouraged others and certainly brought the best out of Dack. With him gone who's left? Travis is a battler but doesn't really have leadership qualities just yet. Won't be a popular suggestion but I'd go for Sam Morsy if Wigan are offloading. May not fill one of our problem positions but just what we need in terms of character.

  17. I hope we've moved on from Kipre tbh. This is dragging on way too long and he clearly doesn't want to be here, so move on to the next target. TM will be rubbing his hands together about having his excuses about why we still have no defenders 18 months after "Defenders are coming". If we end up with JRC-Lenihan-Wharton-Bell against Bournemouth questions really need to be asked about what on earth is happening behind the scenes.

  18. He was all over the place on Saturday but he is so important to us because he has been our only defender under Mowbray who can lead the defence and head a ball. He missed 9 games last season in which we picked up 5 points and lost 6 games. He isnt perfect but he is so important to us. We need more defenders who can actually defend. Kipre would be perfect but seemingly it wont be happening. Sarr is possibly the opposite of what we need.

  21. The worst part for me was we went from a team in total control, to a group of players that looked like they had never met. In the space of one half-time, team-talk.

  22. Is Waggo still on furlough ? He seems to have followed the line of directors under Venkys and suddenly fallen off the radar. Must be all those players they know we can't afford taking up his time.

  25. New owners. Nothing less will bring those 10k people back now. Its alright getting a full house for a promotion lap of honour but we could barely get 25k Rovers fans on when we were at the top of our game most weeks so week-in-week-out in the second division it isn't going to happen (hence the 5-0 analogy above). For all his faults Mowbray has been the best of a very bad bunch over the past decade, the common denominator is our absentee owners. How we get rid of them I don't have the answers to either mate, I'm afraid. Maybe we just need to have one lucky season...

  26. It's Tuesday 1st September 23:10 hours. The BBC Sport website for scores and fixtures has the results of today's games EFL Trophy and Finland league. There is a raft of F A Cup Qualifying games that kicked off between 19:30 and 20:00. Not a single result is shown. To me this is shocking coverage and reporting by the BBC. It IS the F A Cup after all. I despair of the modern generation who don't seem to give a toss about getting information out to those who want it. Don't give a toss about "doing things correctly and meticulously". Another (justified) rant from an old timer.

  27. Using nobend as an example. Their most recent update of presumably others. They’re engaging with their fans saying what the challenges are that they face, why they reached certain decisions, acknowledging shortcomings and generally giving fans info. https://www.pnefc.net/news/2020/august/club-update-season-ticket-policy/ For our regal owners and the stooges they appoint there’s been a tumbleweed bouncing down the road. To me it comes across like the rovers hierarchy either haven’t considered anything and if they have they certainly don’t need to share it with the peasants.

  28. The thing is, unless we sign a Kipre, an Ayala or a Van Der Hoorn, all of which seem unlikely, I fear that we are very unlikely to get someone as good as Adarabioyo, who himself was part of a defence that conceded 63 goals. So I think it will take far more than a centre back replacement to fix our defensive problems. We need 2 centre backs really, at least one of whom has to be dominant in the air. I know Mowbray wants players who can play it out from back but that may be a luxury we cannot afford. When Lenihan misses games, we lose games because none of our other centre backs could head and lead, so we need to avoid that being a risk, especially considering Lenihans injury record. Naby Sarr seems to have been mentioned but he seems to be one who brings the ball out but often has concentration problems, if we signed him in addition to another more conservative defender, then that could be better. We need Kaminski to be a success, he cant afford to make loads of mistakes like Walton. We could do with an experienced number 2 who can step in should Kaminski be struggling, which will be difficult to find. We need to prioritise signing a left back, Bell has shown time and time again that he is miles away from the standard we need and any improvement is a myth. We need to sign a left back of quality ASAP. The importance of competent full backs shouldnt be underestimated, our points per game with and without Nyambe and with and without Cunningham last season shows that. Downing also had a decent spell at LB too. Bennett and Bell at full back will lead to us conceding goals and losing games and Rankin Costello is not a full back either. The important thing is full backs that are good defensively, again, ones flying forward setting up goals too are a bonus. As an aside, Naby Sarr seems to have progressed at Charlton but even at the end Bowyer seemed to trust an ageing journeyman in Jason Pearce more to start games.

  29. Just hope that Dolan stays grounded if he builds on his early performances for us. Also, hope our defence isnt too static this time around.

  33. Now and again you get young players who's knowledge of game management and decision making is older than their years. I'm thinking Dolan may be one of them. On the other hand you can get older players who've never wised up and are still making the same mistakes. Lenihan is just one I can think of.

  34. From the tiny amount I've seen Dolan I don't think this will be a problem. Rothwell is inherantly quite a dangerous player to his own side. He run across the pitch a lot, runs from very deep and central, plays quite risky balls, is quite head down. As a result he seems at risk of losing the ball in dodgy areas that turn into instant counter attacks, and indeed does so. Dolan looks much more a proper out and out attacking winger who plays wide and forward. So he's much less likely to be carrying the ball in those vulnerable parts of the pitch, so can in turn be left to be more adventurous. I hope anyway.

  40. It's so sad to see. I think it's shocking management all round. A perspective - Smallwood off the wage bill 12 months ago (instead of, IMO, Mowbray's sentimentality) would have more than funded a new pitch! Scandalous.

  42. Life doesn't always work out the way you want. If we have to move onto Lindsay then so be it. He performed well at Barnsley. Stoke is pretty toxic right now, or was, so his performances there don't worry me really. He will have a point to prove if he does come to Ewood.

  43. West Brom are stringing him along a little but in turn he's doing the same to us. If he does sign for us in the end and his first interview is full of him praising the club/players/manager/history etc. it will all be fairly hollow words really as he is only interested in coming here if he can't get a better move (which is fair enough)

  44. He'd be a Championship player by season after this anyways. No chance West Brom are staying up
