  1. Won't stop a small handful criticising him, which frankly is starting to piss me off. I get having scapegoats of our worst players all the time, there's always a weak link in a side to be improved. But for a long time now there have consistently been a tiny bunch who slag off whoever our best player is. Rhodes, then Dack, now Armstrong. I know they're not beyond reproach, but some seem to expect them to be perfect. Arma has 11 league goals and we are only a week into November. If he misses the odd chance or does something 'greedy' as someone said earlier, so fucking be it. He has more goals than 9 of the teams in this league have. None of our other players have more than 3 (and that's a central midfielder). He knows he is our best hope of goals so of course he is going to look to score as his first instinct.

  2. Brereton excellent! Wharton good too but the difference was getting Johnson, Rothwell and Arma back in that team! Add in Ayala, Holtby abd Douglas after the international break and we should have a good end to 2020....then don’t lose anyone and get Dack and Trav back in Jan and the charge is on!

  9. 21 years since they've beaten us at Ewood, the LT decided to announce... I think we have all followed Rovers long enough to know what happens next.

  11. Disagree there. We should of been out of sight in the first half.

  12. Johnson has made all the difference, but Armstrong been brilliant. Just waiting to be reminded he is a League One trier....

  13. Jimmy Greaves for me, if he was through on a one on one the opposition could get ready to kick off again. He had the lot, shots placed past the keeper or a dribble round him, it didn't matter to Jimmy.

  14. I was watching the Rovers once at White Hart Lane when Shearer was in his pomp. Late on it was 2-2, although we should have been winning. The ball got lumped diagonally from our left back right into the inside right channel, virtually at Shearer's feet. I saw the Spurs fans on the other 3 sides get up as one man and head for the exits, as everyone knew there could only be one result - a Shearer goal and a Rovers win. And so it proved.

  16. Johnson, Rothwell and Brereton superb. Ignoring any silly comments about Armstrong, continues his great goal scoring form. 3 points, love it!

  22. Great performance and three much needed and well deserved points. Credit to Wharton who stepped up and showed the benefit of his decent loan spells. He will be gutted that the break may allow time for others to return as he did enjoy for another chance. We look so much better with Rothwell (supported by Johnson) driving through the middle. Like Rothwell, Bereton has benefitted from a proper run of games in the same position. Having players with the confidence to run with the ball makes all the difference. Hard to believe Elliott is only 17, looks like he is loving his time at Rovers. That said his corners and set pieces weren’t clicking today, I’d have let Buckley take some as his strength is accuracy. Armstrong, goals, goals and only 23! Yes only 12th, but plenty of football yet with teams up and down - look at Reading sinking etc. Good times!

  23. Very happy tonight, was a critical game that we had to win so to do so is very satisfying. Everything changed with Armstrong coming back, we are overly reliant on him and in the first half he was so frustrating with his end product and decision making but he is the one player who gets the goals with such regularity and is such a threat. Brereton did very well, I have always been critical and rightly so about his numbers and I was made up to see him score, I feel happier when he scores than anyone else I think, and it was a brilliant finish. He also did some very good work for the second to break and set up Elliott who bar a few very good touches was quite quiet but that pass was superb. Johnson was brilliant in the middle, Rothwell was much better too and gave us something different. Buckley the least effective of the 3 but tidy enough and much better than his last performance when he had a shocker, maybe a bit of a blessing with Evans as much as we dont want an injury because Evans cannot play that role. I thought that Wharton did well, he differs from Magloire/Grayson/Carter etc who all looked massively out of their depth when they played, maybe it is the loan spells but Wharton looked comfortable and nearly scored at the other end, although on the ball he is really poor. Lenihan has had a couple of much needed good performances this week. Both full backs were fairly impressive although were both caught out when Kane hit the post. Kaminski was a welcome return, the opposite of Pears who did look so lost coming for crosses, he also made a couple of very good saves although poor for the penalty which I am surprised to see so much complaining about the award of. We have had a crap start to the season and are already playing catch up, and I am not convinced that we are suddenly going to go on a brilliant run as soon as we come back but today was very pleasing and good to see.

  24. Shearer for me. When he went one on one I was almost already celebrating. When he missed it came as a shock.

  25. Good win, decent enough performance, no real complaints tbh! Also, we’ve won- so we should have no reason to be insulting each other.

  26. Played pretty well today, although rode our luck on a couple of occasions. To my mind the injury to the useless Evans actually helped us no end. Wharton also looks to me exactly what we need, a solid no nonsense defender who does the basics gets, gets his head on stuff when needed and isn't afraid to put the ball in row Z if necessary. Unfortunately he probably won't get a look in when everyone's fit. Armstrong's a weird player, misses easy chances, scores more difficult ones and some of his play is really poor but his goal output has been phenomenal so far this season. You can sort of tell what sort of afternoon we're going to have when you see the starting line up. Bar Holtby for Evans and Douglas for JRC I don't think that was far shy of our best starting line up today. Rothwell the pick for me.

  27. The most important thing today is that you're seen to be right. On a messageboard.

  28. Armstrong certainly is'nt the perfect striker, makes plenty of wrong decisions, but he scores plenty and his speed frightens defences to bits. Bloody glad we've got him, that's for sure and his decision making will hopefully improve the more experience he gets.

  29. There are very few world events that deserve celebrating on here, but most of us agree, this is absolutely one. Get in, sleepy Joe!!!! Get in, Rovers. Here's to a happy Saturday night, brothers and sisters! Woo...

  32. This is when we need a manager to earn his corn and turn the tide back in our favour. Unfortunately we don’t have a good one

  33. It's actually a blessing - Rothwell, Johnson, Buckley is more balance and more in line with what we try to do with Holtby in there. Evans is too limited and too defensive.

  35. Cant find the Buckley comment now, but whoever said he flattered to deceive, I think that is very unfair. He was absolutely shocking last time out, and obviously got an absolute bollucking, clearly has been told to reign it in a wee bit, and stop giving the ball away. I would love to see his stats today because I don't recall him giving the ball away once, and his positional sense was much better. Still a boy and if he can play with a bit more discipline like we saw today then he will be an important player us. Would play him ahead of that waster Evans every day of the week.

  36. I've not heard a good word about the commentary team but to me, apart from papping on at times and digressing they are, to me at least, doing a decent job. Christ, I wouldn't want to listen to just the sounds or lack of them in the stadium. Worse things to fret about IMHO than the commentary team.

  37. I'd been in my old job for 23 years and was getting totally fed up with it. I'd just started to look for another job when they announced they were looking for voluntary redundancies. I managed to get 4.25 weeks per year redundancy pay, took a month off and walked straight onto another job. Now only working 30 hours a week and enjoy the new job much more than the old one. Happy days

  38. Unpopular opinion... Craig Bellamy. Whenever he was clean through it was a certain goal.

  39. I thought Elliott was fantastic today, perhaps in an understated way for most of the match but everything he did seemed classy. He controls the ball at pace, uses the ball well, threads worldy passes and is a real hub for the team. Imagine if we’d managed to keep Tosin for another year? I think he would have linked up well with Elliott’s style. Everyone played their part today. Wharton looked solid enough (albeit against a relatively limited QPR) and he will no doubt improve the more game time he gets. A fully functioning Johnson is a big plus for our midfield. He belongs towards the top end of the Championship. Brereton continues to morph into the player he should be and I genuinely now see him as one of the first names on the team sheet. He is offering so much at the moment and every goal should be cherished!!! Nice to head into the break on the back of a victory with the prospect of more of the wounded returning.

  40. What a relief getting three points! We were always the better side but delighted/relieved we weathered the storm they generated middle of the second half and scored two lovely goals to secure the win. Rothwell and Brereton were the players with the eye catching performances. Great to see Armstrong fully mobile. Nyambe was very good apart from one horrible loss of possession which lead to the corner which lead to the penalty which lead to the goal. Nobody had a bad game and Kaminski clearly commands the back in a way Pears can only dream of. Lost count but even with Rothwell, Kaminski, Johnson, Trybull and Grayson back I think we still had eleven players unavailable with Evans the latest casualty addition after two minutes. Hugely happy with the international break for once. I think could be down to only Dack, Travis, Bennett and Butterworth being out by the time we go to Luton which will feel like our season starting all over again. 8 points off top 7 points off 2nd 5 points off 6th The damage of the recent weeks could have been far greater than it has turned out to be.

  41. A good much needed win today. I think I someways shows how much the last few performances were affected by injuries and illnesses. Johnsons physicality was a welcome return. Kaminski gives more calm to the back line and his distribution is much quicker. Armstrong scores two and is the top scorer in the league. Yes he might waste a few but he gets in those positions and is scoring a goal a game so I think he deserves a lot of plaudits for that. Rothwell returning was also massive for us.he looked very sluggish midweek but I thought he was electric. Real drive, hard work and determination to go with his unquestioned ability. My man of the match today. We have really missed his energy, technique and driving runs

  46. We look good so far. The main thing I've noticed is how much better we are defensively with Kaminski in goal. He hasn't done anything spectacular yet, but he just looks in full command of his area and has popped up with a few saves and catches that have looked solid. QPR's danger man is Adomah who has JRC beat for pace, but JRC has done well so far to keep him in check. JRC will need to be at his best today.
