  1. The blasé comments of a manager who couldn't care less. Where's the hurt? The embarrassment? The anger? If you've stopped caring Tony then fine, it's obvious things aren't working and perhaps you've given up. If so then do the honourable thing and resign. If you aren't going to do that and are going to cling onto the job because you hired your mate as your boss and we have absentee owners then so be it, but at least pretend that you care and that results like this hurt. Don't insult us with platitudes and lies.

  2. Beaten by a better coached and organised team, who played some nice stuff on the counter and thoroughly deserved their win. The goalkeeper isn't good enough, terrible from Mowbray to spend money on a third keeper in a window whilst only only signing one crocked centre half on a free. But given how poor we know the keeper is Lenihan and Johnson have got to go out and attempt to block the shoot rather than just standing off and letting the man shoot. Lenihan was absolutley abysmal again today, his performances this season bar one or two have been shocking, we don't just need 1 centre back this window we need 2. Buckley was pathetic again and summed up by the fact that he chickened out on a great chance to score. Travis' attitude was abysmal, multiple times today he lost possession and instead of just trying to win it back just stood about sulking. Brereton was hopeless he tried hard but the harder he tried the worse he got. It seemed like he ended up giving them possession more often than he did us. The 4-3-3 just doesn't suit us, it also does not suit Dack one bit, he looked at a loss as to what his role was today. We were effectively lining up today against league 1 opposition at home without a striker. The subs just made everything even more of a mess, when we are behind there is never any tactics done with the subs its just a case of throw as many attacking players on as possible, have no shape and hope that one of the players produces some individual brilliance.

  3. It was always going to be tough against a side like Doncaster. We did well to stay in it for as long as we did and make a contest of it. Donny have to be one of the favourites for this competition so it’s no shame to go out only conceding the one wonder goal. (He ran all the way from the half way line before smashing that rocket under Pears. Buffon wouldn't have saved that!). With all of the injuries we have, with FFP and the lack of support from our fans we can’t expect miracles from Mowbray. He’s got us playing some great possession-based football (nearly 70% again today) and with a better referee, a bit of luck and when we get Dack, Travis and Brereton back we’ll be a force. It's ridiculous to expect Mowbray to do anything without them. Armstrong is a player who can change games for us but it just wasn't to be today. We had so many chances, so you have to blame the players really. Hope Mowbray gets a new contract. Preferably this evening. Extra time would have been terrible and we need to fully focus on finishing better than last season in the league - but if we don't it won't be because of Mowbray. Did I miss anything?

  4. Well a full house on the Mowbray bingo. A textbook Mowbray performance with just about every ingredient on display today. - Bright(ish) start to the game for the first 10-15 minutes but alas no goal to show for it - I said to my dad when the clock hit 15 that I'd have any bet going that we wouldn't score until the second half at the earliest, and probably wouldn't score all afternoon. - Rapid regression into mind-numbing rubbish for most of the game after the clock reached 15 minutes. - Bundles of possession but precious little to show for it yet conning viewers into thinking we are in control or dominating the game simply by having lots of passes. - Opposition that manages to contain our 'threats' with ease - Opposition that got forward on only a few occasions yet each time carved open our defence with relative ease and only needed a couple of passes to do so - they should have had two goals before they scored and shamefully allowing their player half the Ewood pitch to run with the ball unchallenged. - Once we fall behind the manager then proceeds to chuck on every attacker he has, presumably the logic being that because we need a goal throwing on everyone of an attacking instinct will increase our chances of scoring - only there seems to be no plan or strategy to this approach, it rarely works and we end up with a mess and a ridiculously imbalanced side. - Could still be playing now and I wouldn't have expected a goal - A squad bereft of options and ideas, created in no small part by the manager and his poor recruitment and failure to address important positions. - Usual injury enforced substitution - beyond a joke now that every single game we lose at least one player to injury - Disgraceful body language from the manager most of the afternoon, making a point of sitting down in his chair saying very little and he only started to do anything for the first part of the second half. Once he'd made his changes it was back to sitting down looking bored. I want to see the manager or his staff in the techical area encouraging and instructing the players - we don't see anything of Johnson or Lowe who only appear when the subs are getting ready and Venus seems to spend his time whinging at the 4th official (no problem with that normally but today it was needless and embarrassing). Compare to the opposition who have a raft of coaches communicating and barking instructions throughout. - You know you've been worn down with it when the highlight of the day would have been MK Dons winning and then that solace was taken away in the last minute. There's the full Mowbray set. You could be forgiven for thinking it is 2017 or 2018 but no it is 2021 and it is still groundhog day. Nothing has really changed and nothing will change.

  6. Waggott, Cheston, Mowbray, Venus: Just fuck off tomorrow!!! Useless, passionless, unprofessional, no idea what makes Blackburn folk tick and couldn't give a shit. Please just fuck off!!! Another vital revenue stream up the shitter! Can you sign another cheque please Madame? It's disgusting and disgraceful and in honesty, I'm no Venky apologist, but it's just not fair either!!! We can do so much better than this gutless, clueless shower! Aim High and you may reach the stars, watch this space!!...... WE ARE THE ROVERS!!!

  9. Think people need to lay off the conspiracy theories for why pears is starting. He’s our back up keeper, it’s a cup game. If Tommy K played and got injured/suspended, Tony would get lynched on here. Also if Pears is gonna come in at any point the lad needs some game time

  10. I dont really get how today in itself is the straw that broke the camels back regarding Mowbrays future to anyone. It was a cup game in which we played a much changed team which would never in itself warrant dismissal. But for me it was just further reminders of reasons as to why we are stagnating under Mowbray. Absolute shite but he should have been sacked prior. Numerous players out of position again. Dack is not a false 9, its never worked before and simply wont. Play him behind a striker where he actually plays. Out of everyone we could shunt at right back, how he dreamt up that Buckley goes there is laughable. And obviously Johnson is never a centre back but we know his collection of injury prone centre backs requires desperate measures. He regularly gets the balance of the team horribly wrong, both from the start and with subs. The starting 11 had too many passive players, then suddenly as he often does, we had too many attacking players not in a proper shape with no rhythm or understanding. Pears is shocking, doing a mate a favour. There are calls for Stergiakis but he has come from obscurity really, his games in Europe came in a defeat to part timers. But Pears is shite, 4 years of him to look forward to. I appreciate that Buckley was out of position but it is a myth that he a good footballer but just lightweight. He can barely kick a ball 10 yards and he is slow of thought, he dallies because he doesnt have pictures of what is around him. Brereton set such low standards that some decent performances earlier in the season as if he was justifying his price which he didnt come close to but he is back to the old comedy figure. Dolan is so raw its untrue and hes not effective, a million step overs and then usually turns back or plays a sloppy pass.

  13. It absolutely cannot and will not be done. We have a poor tactical manager who is successful only in confusing himself and the squad that he has assembled. We have possibly 6 quite decent players who appear to be regressing. We cannot ever compete against big and decent defenders. We are far too short in height. Simple stuff that has been the case since a ball was round. We winning virtually nothing in the air in the opposition's half. We have cowards in the team. I saw Buckley opt out of a very good scoring change. I saw Armstrong avoid a tackle at all costs. We are just not good enough with the ball to play this short passing game. A lot of our passes are suicide balls. We are not equipped to play differently. Mowbrays Plan B is to panic and throw players on for the sake of it. Basically the shit against the wall theory. We will never get promoted with Mowbray in charge but as he and he alone runs the show in a benign dictatorship fashion we are stuck in limbo.

  14. A real Football Manager loss - enormous amount of chances but not much of substance. What is more likely with our board is an under reaction. The premier league are playing their kids in this cup this year, it’s a real chance for some success. It was more of a surrender than it was a competitive performance. Fuming isn’t even the word. There is always the danger of overreacting after them types of losses but our board won’t react at all. Mowbray is here for the long haul. He doesn’t care. He’s just once again surrendered our chances of silverware because he is trying to be something he isn’t. Why were there nearly more players out of position at the end than there was playing in their natural positions? Fucking play your players where they became pros at - stop trying to be smart and doing things out of the ordinary. Just play the damn game of football. Done with it for this weekend. Don’t want to see another football until the next game. Mowbray is driving me crazy.

  16. Feeling totally detached from the club. Watching blokes wearing our shirts, most technically poor, some overweight, all lacking in football intelligence, clearly never played together before....and all this after “ we’ve dusted ourselves down and gone again “ ....all your door Mowbray....

  18. Are you mental??? Why would changing a terrible manager after 3 seasons of stagnation be a disaster? It's a sad sign of how far the club have fallen that some fans are happy to accept the current level the club is at.

  19. Simplistic comments like this are REALLY annoying. That may be what the history books show in years to come; but to put it on here as a point of comparison with our performance and result today is cheap. The full facts are that Derby County, whose squad was decimated by Covid19 and played their youth squad at Chorley, lost that game. There can be no comparison between the result at Chorley and the unmotivated performance that the 10 players in blue and white and a Reserve goalkeeper put on this afternoon. If it sent Mowbray to sleep - as it appeared to - then that surely shows he's no longer fit to occupy the manager's office.

  20. The missed chance by Buckley summed it up for me; there's no winners in the side. A winner would have busted a gut to get the ball over the line.

  21. I'd hazard a guess the players are done with him as well, they're certainly playing like it.

  22. Saddest thing is majority want him gone but know there is no hope of change. Genuinely he is gone in pretty much any other club. Just makes you realise how poorly we are owned. Absolutely no pressure on him. Can’t go football just now

  23. My expectation on Mowbray is that his team has to get into the top 6 this season. He’s focused a lot on getting footballers in but there’s no winners in that team. Craig Short, Garry Flitcroft types...we’re so weak and predictable. tip tapping around but no one crashing into tackles or busting a gut. No one playing brave passes through the lines. No one played well today but Buckley, Brereton, Travis and Bell (obvs) were literally horrible. Weirdly, still had enough chances to win the game. We will win games, but without big bollocks you ain’t achieving anything. Team of absolute pussyclarts. Simple as this for me. No top 6, sack the manager.

  26. I rage-quit the FA Player when the commentator described us as 'a minor scalp, we can maybe say'. Fuck off, not only are we a full league above them but we are, as you say, repeated winners of this trophy, have real significant heritage in the game, and have only spent what, 3 or 4 seasons at the level Doncaster currently are? Meanwhile...they're fucking Doncaster. Their greatest achievements are that they once won the third tier we were embarassed to be in, and once won the Football League Trophy we are usually in too high a league to be entered in (our u-23s have been entered into it once though). This result is an embarassment for us. Right now I feel like it's going to be very hard to give a fuck about the rest of the season. I'm sure I'll fall back into the trap of dreaming again at some point though, and put myself through the same torture every Saturday, sometimes twice a week.

  27. He's the only one who holds the ball up in our front 3. He needs to work on his finishing for sure, but he's still a work in progress. Most importantly he fucking runs his socks off for 90 minutes and provides a constant outlet. He's the least of our problems.
    7 points
  28. Not enough winners in that team. Can’t see them going up in a million years. They have to replace the manager.

  29. What has Stergiakis done for Pears to be in front of him?

  30. I know I always give him a hard time but I just cannot see why anyone rates Buckley. Too small, too lightweight, not commanding enough, not enough influence.

  31. My view exactly. No passion, no anger at the defeat, no responsibility for it, no apology. It's embarrassing at worst, pathetic at best. We are a hollow club, with owners who bank roll the club for the only reason to save face. It's another low. God knows who would turn back up if allowed. Under this, I wouldn't.

  32. Still a chance of the play offs. Do you honestly believe we have a realistic chance of the play offs? Over the last 4 seasons 6th has had 70, 74, 75 and 80 points respectively. Half way through the season and we’re on 32 points. So based on those seasons would need another 38-48 points. That’s literally title winning form from the 2nd half of the season. Nothing to suggest that’s on the horizon.

  33. Fair post and you've shown more bollocks than most to say something that has been at odds with your previous point of view. However, I have to ask why you have u-turned only a matter of hours after backing him to enter the transfer market to sign more players?

  34. If I were chairman and I saw my manager behaving like he did in the final stages I would be slinging him out of the stadium with his P45. As I say - he knows he’s untouchable. It’s an absolute joke.

  39. Indeed, let's have some context. The 2/4 senior cbs out for the season - Mowbray was thought to be looking to offload Williams and we apparently couldn't agree a fee with Swansea whilst Mowbray's hand was forced with Wharton (just as it was with Travis - no other options) and he suddenly becomes the best thing since sliced bread. As for Ayala who is out for a month, Mowray signed a centre back who I think you will find missed 20+ league games with M'boro last season (seem to recall him being the butt of jokes on M'boro forum) and over a dozen more in each of the the two seasons prior to that. Ayala has made just 7 or 8 starts for Rovers and we are now half way through the season! If we sign players who seem to have some history of missing a substantial number of games then what do you expect and whose fault is that!? So we seem to bemoaning the loss of two players who Mowbray seemed quite indifferent to before the season started and the loss of a centre back who some would think was an accident waiting to happen when we signed him.

  40. Today was a good example of our league troubles and it's largely because we have a completely one dimensional manager, and a restricted budget. Just like our reserve keeper and seemingly unusable centre back - you get what you pay for, Mowbray was cheap and we've got everything we can out of him. It's no good saying you were simply unable to break down a side a division lower. You should be able to, you have to be able to and if you can't you must be made accountable for why your team can't. He is now repeatedly saying "we were unable to break them down" yet approaches every fixture or style the same way. He is the reason we're not getting results against teams that are worse than ours. It's not down to bad luck and sadly it will continue in the league with or without new defenders. I like the guy and wanted him to take us up but he isn't capable. The failures this season are down to Mowbray and the owners. One of them must take responsibility and make a change.

  41. Great result if it signals the end of Mowbray's mind numbingly dull and pointless tenure. Thoroughly depressing if as is likely it makes absolutely no difference. That's about where we're at getting beaten at home by a League 1 side in the Cup and neither the players nor the manager being remotely arsed because the players can't be bothered to play the extra games and the manager knows he's under no pressure whatsoever whatever happens.

  42. That may be the case for a few on here. For many though we have been up to speed for a long time. You are not alone in your insight. I agree with all your other comments.

  43. Mowbray on the bench today looked a defeated man, who is not even bothering to go through the motions. He looked completely uninterested and like he would have rather been anywhere else. The only thing keeping him here is his very nice salary. For goodness sake Venky's and Waggott put the man out of his misery.

  48. Becuase we can't defend, and never will be able to under this manager. We can't even keep a clean sheet against a League One team. It's death by a thousand cuts, and sadly I get the feeling we've only had about five hundred so far.
