2011/12 Man Of The Match: Rovers v Swansea City

    Rovers 4 Swansea City 2

Finally, Rovers got a much-needed win in an end-to-end game, with six goals, a red card and, more importantly, 3 points for Rovers. Only one man was going to be man of the match for this game, with Yakubu becoming the first Rovers player to score four goals in a Premier League game. Considering the goal machine that was Alan Shearer didn't manage it in his four seasons in the blue and white halves, it is quite a feat and one that hasn't been seen at the Rovers since Simon Garner did it in 1986.

Plenty of other players played well in a decent team performance. However, four goals is always going to put you in the limelight and the Yak deservedly won the BRFCS Man of the Match award with 80.28% of the 213 votes.
