    Summary

A young goalkeeper who failed to make the grade at Middlesbrough, he was a regular in the Rovers' Central League side that gained promotion in 1989. When Vince O'Keefe left he became the understudy to Terry Gennoe but his first team appearances were punctuated by error and the team lacked confidence in him. He became a regular at Darlington but lost his place to Mike Pollitt and then had dreadful luck with injury. Playing in Hong Kong he tore a ligament so badly that a pin had to be inserted. Returning to England he was recruited by Berwick and had become the first choice goalkeeper when another serious leg injury ended his career. Having taken his PFA pension in 2002 he rehabilitated himself sufficiently to resume playing with Billingham. Somewhere through the years his calm temperament appears to have been eroded and he was twice sent off in 2004/05 for arguing after receiving a yellow card, which prompted him to retire. When he returned to the North-East he commenced working for NPower.
