Once regarded as a prodigy at Roker Park the elegant midfield man with classic distribution had lost his way by the time he came on loan to the Rovers. He added a new dimension to the side but funds were tight and the Rovers hesitated about taking him permanently. He was recalled by his club and the Rovers did not attempt to sign him when he became available in the close season. A year later he was back on loan at Ewood and once again his silky skills stood out but finances were no better and he was again allowed to leave. After summer football in Sweden he found an acceptable home at Chesterfield where despite the bustle of the division his cool composure made him an outstanding player. Troubled by a persistent ankle injury he gave up league football but played on for the enjoyment.
