    Summary

A wide midfield player he made it into the Football League after failing to make progress with Brentford and dropping into non-league football. He came to the Rovers on loam when he was not required by Ian Holloway, having had a previous loan spell at Bolton. He had a choice of nationalities because his father was Jamaican but his mother’s family came from County Derry. He made an explosive debut with the club. Signed the day before the derby game with Burnley, he was booked within a minute of entering play, without having touched the ball. He saw little action during the remainder of his loan spell. Bowyer was keen to sign him permanently but he opted to join Bolton where in his second season he became the club’s leading performer. Loaned out for economic reasons he was on the point of signing permanently with Ipswich before Owen Coyle’s late intervention brought him back to the Rovers. However a further season with the club brought little improvement and he was unable to hold a regular place. Strangely he made a loan move to a higher level  than the club was at and helped Cardiff gain promotion to the Premier League.
