Stunning to see how we've assembled a squad of such losers. The mentality of these lot has been pathetic for far too long.
It costs nothing to have some professional pride, how can none of them have any?
This is the crux of it. The club has a culture of failure from the top down. No surprises that the losing mentality is firmly embedded in the squad. No-one at the club cares about their standard of work, because their bosses never hold them to account. Until venkys go, this will just carry on. The club deserve to be relegated because it is run with such little care, that's the sad thing about it.

Every player on that pitch was a disgrace to the shirt.
There's 3 or 4 who should never wear it again. In a proper job, they'd be sacked.
No doubt PE teacher will put his arm round them.

Made me laugh when GB said we'd played particularly well when we went to 4 at the back v Boro, which was of course a forced change from the usual 5. I don't think he is a JE fan.

Decent questions from Andy, but he should have pushed on the Maguire error.
GB said that after 2023 issues they got the Directors and recruitment team in the same room for 2024.
So then HOW does such an error happen on the biggest transfer of the whole window? You'd have 3 or 4 people looking over the shoulder whilst the info was submitted.
Answer: it didn't happen. It is just a lie.
Anyone try to do a £3m+ corporate acquisition deal with 2 other 3rd parties will know there will be multiple lawyers, agents, banks etc crawling all over the execution with multiple controls at every step (they all want to get their %share of the deal!)
Personally I believe they were trying to offload Gallagher on the final day, and when that didn't go through they pulled the Maguire deal.
I've some sympathy with GB because he is powerless, and at least fronts up for interviews.

The "human error" excuse is clearly a cover up.
Thing that shocked me was we had a permanent deal agreed for £2.5m for Maguire, Venkys mess around with the Wharton deal, tell Orlando it is off, then a week later we're paying £3.5m for Maguire (plus probably a loan fee)!
TBH I am sympathetic to whoever pulled the deal. Especially in hindsight Eustace might not want to sign him anyway.

Wharton promoted to the under 21s
Tyler Morton (yes him) actually started in CM last week for the u21s. A.Wharton wasn't even in the squad originally, get your head around that!
The England setup is far too biased to big clubs. There's no way Morton would be anywhere near the squad if he was a permanent Hull player, rather than on loan from Liverpool.

GB has been in charge for the last 3 windows, which have all been disasters. There's only so much blame shifting he can do as DOF the responsibility lies with him.
I'm more convinced than ever that the Maguire transfer was pulled deliberately by suhail/Waggot. The interview didn't press GB on why extra controls weren't put in place after last year.
No mention of the crazy decision to loan out Travis.
No mention of why sign injury prone Fleck.
No mention of why we (still) haven't signed a striker.
No scrutiny over previous windows - Walhsted/teleovic
Nothing on Dolan contract.

Who are the 10 out injured? Is it really that many? Perhaps because in part those who are missing aren't that good either.
Fleck- that injury was always going to happen. Was never going to play any meaningful part of our season.
Pears - not a championship standard keeper. (His replacement is another issue mind.)
Hedges - charitably called busy. Looks great 1 in 7, poor in the rest.
Leonard- potential admittedly but still only played a dozen or so games. Are we that desperate for an untested striker?
Tronstadt and JRC the only big losses as far as I'm aware, of a good championship standard. And being honest JRC is both a huge loss but injury prone and likely to miss chunks of the season.
Can't see how anyone can say the squad isn't poor!
Carter is also injured.
The squad is poor compared to the top 6/8, but has more quality than most of the teams at the bottom, if motivated and organised properly.

Finishing a must-win game passing the ball between THREE centre halves is enough.
Said it many times, but Gallagher on the pitch makes us far worse.
JE OUT is the only chance of survival this season.

These players aren't playing for him, that's for sure.

So basically all week on the training ground they've been working on hoofing it long to Pickering who is up against someone a foot taller than him. Brilliant.
-
Get Ayari and Markandy on. Can't be any worse than this.

Like playing with 10 men with Gallagher

I think I preferred playing pretty football and losing under JDT than this hit and hope dross before the inevitable Milwall winner.

Was it put to Waggot that the paperwork error was actually deliberate to avoid the fee?
I'm still struggling to believe that Silvester makes that mistake for the first time in 20 years, especially with the extra focus after last year.

To be absolutely clear I had no idea what the meeting was about or who was attending other than knowing Waggott had called it. I didn’t know five players would be there. There was a moment when I said to @Herbie6590 I might be going down for a telling off… I even said we might be getting sued here. There was zero agenda or format.
There is of course a risk of being used for PR, but I had two options:
1) Attend, find out what it was about, report back what I can.
2) Don’t attend.
Did Waggot take any questions on the transfer window?

Silvester has successfully done hundreds of transfer paperwork for Liverpool and Rovers over the course of nearly 20 years. He will have his own system and controls for doing so, which have worked over his long career.
The question is why has he seemingly made 3 errors over the last 12 months?
Personally I think that it was done deliberately, which is more plausible than him suddenly starting to make mistakes.

I really don't understand how GB wasn't stood over the shoulder of the person submitting the paperwork, waiting for the confirmation back from the EFL. Especially after last year! That's how it works with big deals in proper companies.
(Good to be back on the forum, been a while...)

Am I the only one concerned that the fee could have been up to £8million (with sell on clauses) for a 20 year old completely unproven at this level?

I've updated the analysis of Nyambe vs Bennett at right back, since November the figures show a stark contrast:
With Bennett at RB: W2 D1 L5 (0.87 points per game)
With Nyambe at RB: W8 D7 L1 (1.9 points per game)What this tells me is that Mowbray has failed to provide cover at RB/CB for injuries to Nyambe or suspension of Lennihan/Tosin. Another example of the awful summer transfer window coming home to roost.

Typical Rovers.
Glass ceiling still in place.

Hard watching this. Rovers getting very little credit. Commentary wetting themselves whenever Brentford go forward.

Never a penalty.
Not surprised. Refs are awful in this league.

Sky commentators pretty much cheered that go in.

Gallagher is absolutely shocking. How he is earning a living from being a footballer is unbelievable.
