v Sheffield Wednesday (a) - 2/12/23
yellowsubmarine replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We are on form with Sammi top of the goal scoring table. Wednesday are at the bottom with just one win. We are consistently inconsistent. 2-1 Wed -

JRC's injury is worringly. probably the only few creative players in this team. Lacks pace but he does have a football brain and some skills. Not sure who's gonna come in for him - most likely Travis. -
Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
yellowsubmarine replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Has really stood up and be counted for this season after our main attackers left. 9 goals already - half of what both Breo(14) and Dack(4) scored last season in the league. Let's hope Sammie stays fit. He always strike me as a Bellamy/Vardy type of a maverick player. Pacey with an eye to finish. We need to keep hold of him. -

According to some who watched 5 mins of Wahlstedt's youtube compilation and decided he's our answer. Speed up the recovery of Pears. Can't believe we paid money for a flapper to replace Kalminski. -
v Chelsea (a) - 1/11/23 - Carabao Cup

No way we will beat them. Hoping we can put up a good fight and glimpses of some attacking football (if any). They will have too much for us even if they are playing a 2nd or 3rd team. Scared to predict the score. Something respectable will be good. -
Did burmley come back early for pre-season just to sit on top of Sheff United? It's clearly working. 3 points ahead with a superior goal difference. Well done Vinny.

v Swansea (h) - 28/10/23

The two moves which resulted in a glaring miss from Brittain in the first few mins and the set-piece play which Szmodics shot and slipped. Those were some pretty passing football. Just a shame we didn't score either one. Those were big chances. -

Tronstad and Wharton doing well so far. Someone needs to bloody try and take a shot. Too much pretty-to-the-eye type of football. Swansea already has the ball 3 times in our net. Wahlstedt doesn't inspire me. Pears wont have much difficulty getting his shirt back. -
It's a shame how badly he has regressed. When he burst into the scene, he was a joy to watch, always wanting to take on his player, very enthusiastic, always play with a smile on his face. Not sure if it's due to the death of his best mate. Now he just passes the ball back, even when he takes on players, he cant get the ball out of his feet, misses sitters too. All is not well with him. To be fair to JDT, he's giving Dolan alot of chances to play. This young guy badly needs to sort himself out.

We spent the last 45 seconds still trying to pass the ball out from defence. Unbelievable. -

Aren't we watching the same game. He made a few good saves too. It could have been 6-3 or 7-3 EASILY. -

Travis is playing too far high up, he should be helping Wharton in the middle. The hole in our center midfield is just ridiculous. Just give Wharton a rest, he's at walking pace. -
v Sunderland (h) - 20/9/23 - 19:45
yellowsubmarine replied to Aqualung's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Same sentiments. Defence is supposedly our best department but we are conceding goals. Im not sure if its due to A.Wharton playing just in front of the defence. Wharton can pick the ball and distribute for sure but he's also culpable of losing the ball in dangerous positions. Travis is sometimes played too far high up, trying to link up the attack when he's really not a good passer (or rather it's not his strength), his strength is breaking up play. Probably explains why he's seems more injury-prone now with all the lung-busting attacking runs upfield and on the flanks. There seems to be a "hole" in our midfield and i'm not sure if anyone else sees this too. They aren't protecting the defence well enough. Tronstad needs to get up to speed. We are missing a really unfashionable yet reliable defensive CM. Just do simple things right - screen the defence, win and pick up loose balls, pass it on the attacking players, keep your position. -
v Plymouth Argyle (a) - 2/9/23
yellowsubmarine replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Totally deserved to lose. Too much cute football passing the ball around. We just dont have the players to finish the moves. Gally is a still a joke. Travis shouldnt be anywhere in the attacking third - cant shoot cant pass. Hedges is seriously frustrating to watch - tries to be too fancy, keep passing when he's in a good position to shoot. And when he's one-on-one, he misses. The three of them should never be allowed to play as an attacking trio ever again. A. Wharton gives away too many balls. Horrible result. And Pears and S.Wharton are a comical pairing. -

Championship - 22-23
yellowsubmarine replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's crazy WBA still has a chance like us to get into the playoff, thought they were out awhile ago. Kudos to Coventry, came from nowhere and now safely in the playoffs. We only have ourselves to blame, and lady luck of course. Had we gotten a win or 2 from the last 7/8 games, we should be safe and dry too. Such a wasted opportunity. One last game to go. Win at Millwall and pray we have some luck with the other 2 games. Squeaky bum time! -
v Luton Town (h) - 1/5/23

Same old story. Good football, plenty of possession but can't score. Luton defence solid. We need a lucky good from somewhere.
