  1. The Korean KLeague 1 and 2 season start this Friday. Behind closes doors for now, but at least it's live footy! My team, Ulsan Hyundai, have signed ex-Bolton winger Lee Chung-yong and former Rovers trialist Yoon Bitgaram. We are gunning for the title we missed out on by a single goal scored last season. Not sure if any UK broadcaster has picked it up but Bet365 might have it.
  2. Stream was fine second half - much more fluid and consistent. Much like Rovers.
  3. Yeah Mulgrews goal took about 30 seconds to go in. I thought there is no way this is getting by the keeper -
  4. Anyone else having trouble wi the stream today? No matter what quality i put it on it is stuttering and starting every few seconds. The problem must be at their end.
  5. And we are live! Rovers fans in good voice already.
  6. Early setback for England u20s in the semi as Italy took the lead after 2 minutes. But from then on we dominated. Particularly in the second half England were excellent. Italy dropped deeper and deeper. Young Liverpool lad Ojo came on and immediately made us even better. 3-1 in the end and could have been more! Never thought Id be able to say this, but I just bought tickets to watch England in a World Cup Final!!!!
  7. Under 20s are through to the world cup semis. They beat Mexico 1-0 despite losing a man for the last 30 mins. Italy up next, then Uruguay or Venezuela in the final on Sunday. Im booking my tickets tomorrow. The 3rd 4th place playoff is played right before the final. Both games for about 18 quid. Hopefully we'll be in the latter!
  8. England have topped their group at the u20s world cup here in Korea. They beat the hosts 1-0 on Friday night. My (korean) wife has to wash up for the week as a forfeit.
  9. I watched La la land having no idea what it was about before i went in and having been subjected to none of the hype. I enjoyed it a lot, afrer the cheesy opening number was out of the way. Funny how expectations, or lack of them can affect your opinion of a film.
  10. Any Clitheroe area restaurant recommendations?
  11. ODB is a deceased member of the Wu Tang Clan. Use google to see what it stands for.
  12. Off topic - anyone else chuckle when they see Old Darwen Blue abbreviated to ODB?
  13. I enjoyed that film a lot. There's a creepy tension throughout. But it did feel like the marketing people got hold of a decent screenplay and tagged another film on the end. It didnt ruin it, it just felt a bit jarring.
  14. Living so far away from the UK certain pop culture events pass me by. So when a friend told me about Ed Sheeran last week I thought I'd give him a listen. Better late than never. But tbh I can't understand the hype myself.
  15. I really enjoyed The Night Manager. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston both dabbled in the creepy side of charming very well.
  16. Some brilliant news coming out of Double Fine this week! Day of the Tentacle Remastered followed by a crowdsourced Psychonauts 2!!
  17. Rodrik on my main playthrough. Need Asher to control the sellswords
  18. Still waiting for the last episode of Telltale Game of Thrones. It's finally out in a few weeks. Not as emotionally charged as Walking Dead, but the intrigue has me hooked.
  19. I saw The Martian a few days ago. I can see why some think it is a bit baggy. Matt Damon clears all his initial survival hurdles with very few problems, so it might seem like not much is going on. But it is important we are all on-board with how exactly someone might be able to live on Mars, so I thought the film's length was fine really. I didn't think much of Jeff Daniel's performance. That first press conference he gave was hilariously cold-hearted. I did think the disco music soundtrack worked well to lighten the mood and pointing out the absurdity of Matt Damon's situation (although Guardians of the Galaxy did it better.)
  20. I've managed to get the highlights of the Tour of Britain on ITV player this week. Great to see the crowds in my hometown of Clitheroe. Anyone here watch the riders go over the Nick O' Pendle?
  21. Finished my first bike tour of Korea yesterday. 450km in 4 days during the country's worst heatwave in decades. Sensibly we managed to do most of the miles in the morning and evening. Thanks for the advice and encouragement from this thread. Already thinking about other tours I could do in the future (although my arse needs some time to recover). It's a long way to come but i would recommend a holiday here. Korea has spent a lot of money on its cycle paths. Some fantastic mountains and rivers to see.
  22. I went for the Trek 1.1 in the end. They didn't have the Synapse and would have had to import it. The Trek has a carbon front fork which I hear is good for comfort as it absorbs more bumps than aluminium. I went out for my first long ride today, but I had to use my old bike. 100km done. Got a few aches and pains but nothing too bad. I'll try the same tomorrow morning.
  23. Nah i do fancy getting into it. If this goes well I might try a few other club rides and that. Im having a look at the Trek 1.1 as an entry level road bike to dip my toe in so to speak. Thanks again for the advice.
  24. Thanks for the advice chaps. I am not a regular cyclist and I'm looking to buy a new bike for the journey. Seeing as it is relatively flat all the way I'm thinking of either getting a hybrid for the comfort, or a road bike based on the Shimano Claris or Sora groupset. I don't really plan on going up many mountains in the future so I'm trying to buy a bike at the lower end of the market - around 500 quid. As long as I get it fitted well these bikes should do the job right?
  25. I've just agreed to accompany a mate cycling from one end of S.Korea to the other over the space of 4 days. We set off at the end of this month. Its around 630km of pretty flat riverside tarmac. The furthest I've ridden a bike before is about 50km. I am pretty fit from my regular half marathons and swimming a few times a week. But I'm worried about not being used to the hours in the saddle. Is it doable?
