  1. Just been listening to Nick Cave on Myspace. I quite liked it actually. Not quite as odd an inaccessable as I thought.
  2. I watched that film with Ray Winstone as a policeman trying to keep order in the Australian desert. I think it was called The Proposition, and Nick Cave did the screenplay and/or soundtrack. It is a good film, and the weird sounds really work well with the visuals of the desert.
  3. Earthworm Jim was a good game for the mega drive. I was also responsible for my cousin being so good at fighting games, as I played Street Fighter II Super Nuclear crap yourself version with him when he was about 2. He just hammered the punch and kick buttons whilst my uncle used the movement buttons. I was beaten every time, because I was crap, and every time you got near him, you'd be smashed by a million fists and feet. I didn't even get that close when I next played Tekken II on the PS1.
  4. Just felt like reviving this thread. Has anyone played Virtua Racing in the last year or two? It's amazing how crap the graphics look now, and then think how high tech it was at the time. I seem to remember it was sold for £60-70 over here . Good thing I lived in Hong Kong where it was about half that at the time. God bless Sham Sui Po and its Golden Arcade. Even if it was probably a hive of computer piracy!
  5. I've started playing Final Fantasy XII on the PS 2. I know it is old, but its new to me, and I like it so far. It's a bit like FF VII, but a bit quicker to do the moves in a fight. What is the latest FF? Must be up to 16 (or should that be XVI) by now.
  6. I think Hodgson signed Corbett. And I think Stead has moved to Ipswich perimently.
  7. You'll be saying Mamma Mia was a good film next! Nickelback are just wrong, and should not be encouraged.
  8. Sorry Rovermatt, but liking Nickelback is like saying Sly Stallone has made some great comedy films. It is the sort of over-ernest rock music mums of teenagers listen to in order to be 'down with the kids'. Creed were the same sort of thing. Please note that Metallica have released a new album. They're past their best, but they can still do it. Put it this way-Creeping Death or You Remind Me? Disposable Heroes or Rock Star?
  9. Michael Moore is too arrogant and loves his own voice a bit too much. A better book would be The Best Democracy Money Can Buy by Greg Palast. It is based more on documentsand proof and less on bombastic statements having a go at Bush. It is a few years old, but it is much better than Dude Where's my country.
  10. It's proof that the masses are indeed idiots Rovermatt. It would be daft to stop, as it makes loads of money like you say. What I find so crushing is the fact that these films involve one or more of the Zuckers who made such great films as Airplane, Naked Gun and the TV series Police Squad. As Mark Kermode said, people should not see Disaster Movie as it will only encourage them to make more. Just listened to the good doctor on the BBC Iplayer, and his review of Rock 'n' Rolla is worth listening to. has anyone else seen Wag the Dog? That is a very entertaining satire about the US elections.
  11. I love the arguments between them. Mayo would say something like "Film X is quite good, I think it is better than film Y." which Kermode responds with a rant about how Mayo is wrong, and Film Y is a masterpiece.
  12. There's a new ____ movie called Disaster Movie that's opened. It looked as funny as finding out you have AIDS. How that crap can be made, let alone watched by anyone is beyond me. That reminds me, I have to see if I can download the last Mark Kermode review from Radio 5.
  13. Whilst I've not seen Pineapple Express, I agree with your point. If crap comedy films like Evan Almighty, those ones with LL Cool J (or was it Ice Cube?), or other films that are just rubbish like Mamma Mia can be funded, surely a Red Dwarf film should get some money. It may not work as a film, but who knows?
  14. I think its been too long since the TV programme anyway. And You'd have to have the very irritating Kochanski character that ruined the last couple of series. Shame, as it may have worked, unlike the Simpson's Movie.
  15. Goldeneye was good, but I have to say all the Roger Moore films I've seen were pants. Anyway, I wonder which will come first, the Red Dwarf film, or the Guns n Roses Chines Democracy album? Last I heard of the former was that one of the writers was still trying to get people to fund it a few years ago. God knows about the latter.
  16. I agree, that Arctic one with the godawful Madonna tune was dire. Bond became a generic action film during Brosnan's time. As for Cleese, I can't help thinking he's going to go off on one like at the end of Clockwork. Bond shoud be a dark, quite unpleasant character with psychological problems and not some international shag star.
  17. I think Ford has sold both Aston Martin and Jaguar to venture capitalist firms. I don't know whether they had changed hands when the film was made. I agree with the product placement point though-it does suck. The later Brosnan films were terrible for that.
  18. As I said before, Guy Ritchie making another mockney gangster film? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz At least when Scorsese made all those wop gangster films with De Niro, a few were good. I reckon all the Bond fanboys had finally shut up about Daniel Craig being crap and so on.
  19. I don't mind players that seem really relaxed and unfussed on the pitch if that's their style, but I don't like players who just don't bother and seem happy to pick up the cheque. Benni has gone from the former to the latter.
  20. I would! But then my sisters live there. Oh, by the way Hannah if you move house Newsome Vaughan are very good solicitors. Especially Lucie Byron. If you live in Bedford then you're sorted for Italian food. There is one on Commercial Road that was good, although I recommend you avoid the local pubs as they can be scary. I also forgot about the best Thai food I've ever had. In Wellington, there is an indoor market not far from the dockside area, and in there is a small family run Thai restaraunt. It is fantastic
  21. I might have been thinking of The Old Mill Hannah. It's a white sort of mock Tudor building, and it is quite cosy inside without being claustrophobic. From what I can remember the menu is on a big blackboard near the bar. Went to Coventry University, so that's how I knew about it. Two of my tutors used to go to Brown's a lot, as did a good friend of mine Kris Connelly. It is more of a trendy wine bar type place, but it used to pretty good food when my sister was at Coventry Uni in the late 1990's. I forgot about Wing Wah's. It's a massive Chinese buffet that is pretty good, although the food can be a bit too salty for anyone under the age of 70. It's in Coventry on the A45. I warn you though, it is not the place to go for lunch if you have a hangover. And there is a noodle bar in that square around Little Park Street. Can't remember what it is called, but that is good.
  22. It's not just humans that are smackheads I'm in two minds. On the one hand, if we can legalise all the hard drugs, then it can presumably be regulated as is the case with alcohol. On the other, I think people who are my age and start doing heavy duty drugs are idiots. We all know the dangers, we all know we can end up sucking off some bloke in an ally in order to get our next fix so why start? I have no answers really, as if we legalise it, it could be very hard to take it from dodgy blokes on street corners and move it to pubs or Boots where it can be regulated.
  23. If you are ever in the Exmouth/Lympstone area, The Nutwell Lodge is supposed to be great. My fiancee has been there, and says it is every time we drive past. Don't bother with Brown's at Coventry (if you happen to in Coventry of course). The food has got all average, and they play the music a bit too loud. There is a great place in the Bagington area near the airport, which serves fantastic food and beer. It's called the Bagington Arms I think. If it is an Indian you're after, Turmeric Gold is very good, and Ally's Balti in Earlsdon is a good if you're having a Saturday night out. Then you can either visit The Craven Arms, also in Earlsdon, or Whitefriers in the city centre for a good beer. The one decent place there is in Bridlington is Saffron. It is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. A bit posh and expensive, but good god it is worth it. Finally, there's anIndian somewhere in the suburbs of Auckland called Santos, which is a converted church. That was very nice, and didn't bat an eyelid when my uncle rang them and asked to book a table for about 25 people later that day.
  24. So is Barton in the reserves then? Keegan is a spineless twerp for giving him another chance. How many times can someone assault another person before they realise he's bad news? Barton will never change.
