  1. It is, and the players know that. As far as I'm aware there were no "you're not fit to wear the shirt" chants in the QPR match, just chants against Waggott and Venky's. It was, as far as I'm aware, extremely obvious where the anger is aimed. The players probably felt like they had to say something like this to try and defend themselves - but they simply should not have been in a position where they needed to do so. Not now, at the height of a club crisis, with barely any forewarning. Wrong time, wrong place, and any CEO with an ounce of respect for the players or fans would have known this.
  2. If we've not only pushed Adam out the door against his will but also presumably preyed on his love of the club to give him less than he was due then that really is unforgiveable. I really hope that isn't what happened - but why else would Adam compromise on something he was contractually owed?
  3. Don't really understand the reasoning in that post. Waggott's reason was that Wharton didn't want the move? Isn't that the whole point of paying a loyalty bonus - if he's sold against his will and hasn't asked for a transfer?
  4. Quite ridiculous really as nobody comes out of it looking good. If Waggott thinks it takes some heat off him then think again, as this seems like a very transparent ploy to put some of the heat onto the players - who shouldn't be in a position where they are sat down in front of supporters in an impromptu meeting in the middle of a club crisis. Absolute madness.
  5. If the players genuinely complained about the atmosphere and complained about young lads (of which there were only two, and Dolan, on the pitch in the first half) at the QPR game needing to be picked up at half time because of the crowd reaction then they deserve some constructive feedback on that. Sounds like Josh let them know exactly what the situation was in regards to the booing and atmosphere - as if they didn't already know. However you are right, they are just a distraction tactic and we only have a soft team making excuses because of the owners allowing such a squad to be assembled and given a message of "there is no ambition except staying in the league". Little wonder we don't have any winners in the team when that's the limit of our ambitions as a club. If you genuinely wanted to win things you wouldn't be happy sticking around after hearing that, would you?
  6. Have to say it is very hard to believe that after last year's fiasco something like that could have happened. As someone else said, Broughton would surely have been double and triple checking everything had gone through to ensure he wasn't embarrassed again. It's his reputation being given a battering if another fuck up happens, in his first appointment as DoF. I struggle to accept he wouldn't have been making 110% sure that everything had gone through exactly as it needed to. It leads me to believe he either talks a good game but is utterly incompetent, or that there's more to this than the club are telling us. I'm not one for conspiracies but it's a question of whether you believe Gregg is an idiot or the club are keeping something out of the public domain. Granted it could be both.
  7. The list of 'senior players' there tells you all you need to know about why we are where we are. Three who should be bench players at best and two who have barely been here for a cup of tea.
  8. Think Chrisene and Moran were the youngest out there, both are 20. Dolan's 22 but has so much experience at this point that I'd be shocked if he was affected. The rest old enough where they shouldn't need to be "picked up" because of a few scattered boos. If the mentality is that fragile no wonder we can't recover from going a goal down.
  9. Would have been interesting to hear from the likes of Gallagher why he thinks the players are incapable of coming back into a match when we go behind. Can't blame JDT as that was going on during the Mowbray years too, and can't blame the fans either as booing is pretty infrequent overall. He's the only one from the so-called senior delegation who would have been able to give a longer term perspective.
  10. So the basic takeaway of the meeting was "get behind the lads ffs". Wonderful.
  11. Fortunately in employment, and we don't hire employed managers. If he resigns in the next few days though...
  12. Not quite, it's actually the third with Ethan Brierley factored in.
  13. Sounds like they'll have a meeting to discuss a mutual termination and then he'll be off. God knows who we'll get to take the position.
  14. Yeah, but that was ten years ago and we still had parachute payments and a competitive squad. Nowadays we're in a completely different situation. I'm sure there would still be a long list of applicants, but the quality of those applicants will - I imagine - be significantly less attractive. Especially if we stick with the Venky model of only going for managers who are out of work.
  15. You have to think it will make younger, ambitious managers think twice about coming here going forward. JDT's outspoken nature has revealed clearly to everyone that he's been lied to, messed around and then kept here against his will despite offering to leave for free on good terms. Anyone with sense and options is going to give us a wide berth, leaving us with chancers, managers in the last chance saloon and total unknown punts.
  16. The step up from the Championship to the PL is pretty huge. Was a bit unfair to chuck Wharton in today imo, and Hodgson paid for that mistake. As an experienced manager he should know better. One look at our squad would tell you Adam hasn't exactly been spending his time training with top tier talent.
  17. Either to make it look like we tried, knowing full well it was too late, or because GB eventually convinced Venky's to go along with it, but by then - again - it was too late. Who knows, all hypotheticals but one thing we can say for sure is the club as a whole is an unmitigated disaster.
  18. Why even bother resurrecting the deal if so, though? Was it another case of GB thinking he could restructure as a loan with various fees and Venky's/Suhail at the last minute being like "hold your horses there chief, we said no fees, and that includes loans" ? Hence paperwork ends up submitted too late... But then, even for that to be the case - why would you be parading the guy around wearing our shirt and doing interviews? The whole thing just makes no sense, unless it's occam's razor scenario of... our staff really did just fuck up the paperwork again despite GB's insistence we wouldn't see a repeat. However, if THAT was the case then why would Jon not suggest the journalists ask Greg rather than Steve and Suhail...?
  19. Pretty much resigned to us going down at this point. Impossible to see where the next win is coming from. We haven't been able to beat any of the bottom four in the last two months and since December have the worst record in the league and have shipped the most goals. The manager doesn't want to be here. We just sold our best player and haven't replaced him. I genuinely thought we'd be okay this season, and would only need to accept the inevitable next season, but not anymore.
  20. Heads should have rolled after last January's embarrassment, but they didn't. If the McGuire transfer goes the same way we'll get some mealy mouthed excuse, probably a sob story about the EFL being overly stringent, and everyone moves on. With the exception of JDT, who may well just say fuck it and leave. I just hope McGuire can head back to the States and continue on as normal until the summer. Not fair on the kid at all. Must be wishing he'd signed with Wednesday instead.
  21. Zero accountability at Ewood. Remember when Derek Shaw "went rogue" (Venky's own words), costing us millions in Berg's payoff, and then proceeded to stay employed for years afterwards?
  22. Guess we'll have to plonk Dunc on the turnstiles.
  23. It's a very weird situation. GB clearly thought that money would be available from the Wharton sale. Somebody must have told him this. Hence the permanent deal for McGuire being all but done. Then all of a sudden the rules change, and suddenly we can't sign anybody for a transfer fee. McGuire transfer and any involving permanent fees thrown in the bin. Can't blame GB for that if this is what happened. With that said, we had enough time to complete the loan deal, so if it's once again a case of fucking up the paperwork then it's sheer incompetence. If it's a case of Venky's/Suhail interfering again to make submitting the paperwork a nightmare then it's on them. JDT suggesting to ask Steve, Suhail and the owners perhaps gives us a clue.
  24. He says he offered to walk away in the summer for free and they said no, although of course that isn't the same as an actual resignation. According to this under UK law an actual resignation can't be turned down by an employer. https://www.irwinmitchell.com/news-and-insights/newsletters/employment-update/myth-busting-employers-have-to-accept-an-employees-resignation#:~:text=It is a common misconception,employee%2C without the other's agreement.
