  1. I think KMD ended up that way, but he was still in his prime when we got him. At that point he had never been sacked as a manager and had literally just won trophy-upon-trophy in his previous job. That said, I think Mourinho would be as big a coup and make similar headlines. I also think he would play in the right way to get promoted. Not sure about Hughes, I absolutely loved him at Ewood as a player and even more so as a manager but they say you should never go back and I can't think of many instances where doing so has worked.
  2. I moved to Glasgow just a few weeks after Rovers were crowned premier league champions, and lived there until about 4 years ago. I'm down near Largs in Ayrshire now. I still get to as many games as I can but not as frequently as when I was in Glasgow, when I could easily make it down and back on the train in a day. There used to be a fair few Rovers fans on that train as well, particularly in the prem days.
  3. He's still trying to get messages to the owners in every single interview he does. That doesn't suggest to me that he feels safe and I am still confident there'll be a parting of the ways.
  4. This made me laugh. Edit: I see @Riversider28 had already posted it on the premier league thread 😂
  5. Inviting clubs from another country surely cannot be the solution to this. It’s not that far removed from what these clubs are plotting, when you think about it.
  6. "Widely reported" doesn't make it true Chaddy. Roy Keane has absolutely zero qualifications for that job, other than being Irish and (albeit briefly) an ex- Celtic player. I hope you're right about Howe, I think he'll be a good fit for Celtic if he can get used to the goldfish bowl nature of being their manager.
  7. Roy Keane has never been in the frame for the Celtic job, and I'm not sure whether Howe is or not - if he is you would have to wonder why they haven't appointed him yet? I heard that Dyche is on their radar but wanted to stay and make sure the Dingles stayed up first?
  8. He might be prepared to take a drop in wages if it feeds his ego. Not a chance in hell of Klopp going to Celtic any time soon.
  9. I suspect he's on more than that to be honest Chaddy. I'm speculating here but I wonder if Celtic will approach him. It would be the biggest club he would get a job at now.
  10. Tottenham Hotspur have sent a statement out to all their supporters saying that “even though we haven’t won a league title in 60 years, and a European one in over 35, we have earned our right to be at football’s top table because we have a cheese shop and a brewery on the concourse.”
  11. I really feel for you mate. My two lads (ages 32 and 27) had always been Rovers fans with Celtic sympathies, who regularly travelled the 420 mile round trip for home games. For the last 5 years they’ve been Celtic season ticket holders with Rovers sympathies. Now they are just Celtic season ticket holders 😢
  12. No mate it was a lad I used to work with. An off duty Lancs cop whose head was properly fucked up by what he witnessed that day and the police’s role in it. He’s never fully got over it but thankfully he’s at least able to socialise a bit these days. He’s not attended a professional football match ever since that day though.
  13. Of all the things we have to moan about at the minute I wouldn’t put this very high up the list. We all laughed at the thought of Simon Garner lifting his West Brom shirt to the Burnley fans after scoring to reveal a Rovers shirt and yet this is a much more serious issue. I say fair play to the lad. A very close friend of mine was in the Leppings Lane end in 1989 and still suffers trauma to this day because of what he witnessed. All avoidable. Who cares if a young lad got booked after scoring a goal and revealing a tribute shirt to an empty stand? Certainly not the families of the 96 and all the other affected people. Context.
  14. Lancs having a cracking day so far - Northants 87/8 in reply to 300
  15. Its not a shame, its completely unacceptable and I'm afraid it very much is time for a change, and has been for quite some time now.
