  1. Is this the start of the breakdown? Fingers crossed. Scratch the ice, let the telephone ring. Mowbray's guys gonna make the fans sing. Scratch the earth like a burial ground Ten out of ten is a beautiful sound... Is this the start of the breakdown?
  2. Gallagher has provided little evidence at all of his 'striker' credentials at any point during his time here at Rovers. To a certain extent the blame for this might given to TM's previous bizarre insistence on using him as a winger, but in my mind a striker is someone who demonstrates a natural eye and instinct for goal. That just doesn't describe Sam Gallagher. His lack of other clear contributions to the team make me wonder what possessed TM to shell out Β£5M for him in the first place, but given the renaissance of a certain plastic-Chilean, I still hope big Sam rams all of our doubts down our collective throats for Rovers starting next time out. Meanwhile, any transfer news...?
  3. A point here would be a decent result based on the dogshit football we've played today.
  4. Oh yes you are - just try getting your money back from these fucktards
  5. Jesus! You can't even send an email to alert the fookers that there is a problem - it just says 'Message blocked' 😞 😞 😞 Unbelievable!
  6. What a difference a few short months has made to our general outlook! I have to admit being one of the doomsayers as we came into the season, and my lampooning of TM as the Gurnmeister General was, on reflection, perhaps a little over the top. Having said that, I think something has clicked, and we seem to have lost tombola Tony and that gurning chump who would appear horizontal and slumbering outside the technical area throughout games... He isn't missed, and this new Mr Passion who gets booked for berating the officials is much more my cup of tea. I don't know if anyone else saw the BBC North West feature on the club this evening? I wonder if we might be on the verge of something very very interesting and life-affirming for all of us dyed in the wool / long in the tooth fans of the Mighty Blue and White Blackburn Rovers. I truly hope so πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ TM Card.jfif
  7. This isn't an official site. I think we should wait until Rovers make an announcement before getting all hot and bothered about this lad.
  8. Difficult game on Saturday, with last week's ignominious (if somewhat predictable) exit from 't Cup still fresh in the memory. I hope TM has the sense to revert as far as possible to the winning formula that has served us so well since the Fulham debacle. Even with the enforced changes, we should have the nucleus of a decent side, and combined with the new found resolve and the return of the ice-man in goal, I would hope we have enough in the tank to return at least a point from Cardiff. This is the acid-test, ladies and gentlemen. Win this and we continue to believe. Draw and we won't lose our faith. Lose, and maybe, just maybe the wobble sets in.... Hedging my bets here... 1-1 Rothwell screamer rescues a point.. COYB!! More of this kind of approach, please πŸ™‚
  9. Great goal! Only one place that was going to end up once Reda got it at his feet. Rovers looking steady.
  10. It's not a banana skin, it's a shit sandwich - no option to chow down and hope to delight the many faithful who are making the short trek to the end of the fooking world, or as it is otherwise known, Wigan pier. Hoping for a long overdue but very welcome ball in the 4th round draw. Whilst we can always glory in the memories of Clayton, Garner, Shearer, Reid and Tugay, may today be a time for new heroes to come to the fore! COYB!
  11. I did take a peek at the Rules of Competition before I wrote that, which do mention replays for ties that end in a draw, so am a little surprised. Having said that, I'd rather we got the job done (one way or another) on the day, so we can avoid fixture congestion when we need to stay fit and focused on the league campaign.
  12. Whilst I hope we have enough in the tank to consume the pie-eaters, I'd not be that bothered if we were to bow out once again in the 3rd round. Sensible tactics for me would be to rest key players, whilst giving fringe players the chance to show what they can contribute. Of course that approach carries the risk that a good result creates a selection dilemma later on - do you stick with the team that got the result(s) earlier in the competition, or allow your first choice players from the league campaign back in (which never seems fair on the fringe contingent)...? Alternatively should TM take the view that the season can include a run in a cup competition, therefore continuing with the settled team approach that appears to have paid dividends since the Fulham debacle? Regardless of what actually happens re team selection on Saturday, I'd hope to see a continuation of the attitude, work-rate and team spirit that has characterised the Rovers this season so far - that to me seems to have been the difference that has made the difference. If TM can deliver the same approach using a different set of players, then I'd be confident that a good result would be achievable against Wigan, regardless of whose name is on the team-sheet. The question is, how much of the recent form is down to having a group of players who are used to working with each other? We shall see. I foresee a free-scoring game on Saturday, with both teams 'going for it' - perhaps an entertaining 2-2 followed by a replay at Ewood, with Rovers running out 5-0 winners. COYB! Keep the winning mentality and momentum going! πŸ™‚ Hmm.. momentum might be a bit of a stretch, as regards the FA cup!!
  13. I was there at Hillsborough that night, with my Dad & my old best mate from uni and his dad who were staunch Wednesday fans. We sat in the stand, and each time Rovers scored, my mate's dad put his head in his hands and shouted '"BUGGER!" at the top of his Yorkshire voice πŸ™‚ Both dads long gone now, off to the football stadia in the stars, but still remembered fondly here. That Rovers side had some quality! I guess it was still very much the bones of the Premiership winning team, with a few new faces (Henchoz, McKinlay, Anders Andersen, Duffer). It was the spirit and attitude to the game that was such a draw for me, with a feeling that we would get something from any game we went into. We get that feeling a bit now, although there are more nerves these days, as history has taught us caution on the Rovers' front, rather than blind optimism. Hurrah for the Rovers though! Where did Tim Flowers go after Rovers?
  14. Whilst it is mildly amusing to read that tripe and to hear the distress emanating from our six fingered cousins' specially adapted keyboards, I can't help thinking it all sounds very familiar and a bit too close to home to allow us to crow. The only up side would appear to be the possibility of the pendulum swinging back in Rovers' favour after a long time with our heads being held under water, and it is nice to think that once again we might be in a position to compete with and possibly beat the knuckle draggers. But overall it is just a matter of time at any club, without investment in the core of the side, or an indication that the game has changed but the team and tactics haven't adapted, and that is what the fans are complaining about. Personally I couldn't care less if they put it right or not, whether Buhnleh are relegated or not, whether Dyche stays / gets potted or not. What is important is how Rovers ride out the remaining 21 or so fixtures to the end of this season. Once we know where we stand for the next campaign, then it will be interesting to look over the shoulder to see where the turd-meisters have ended up. Having said that, the current trajectory does seem to raise the distinct possibility of at least two adrenalin-charged fixtures for 't Rovers next season, which has got to be a good thing. Dyche in!
  15. Jayzus, ye'll be claiming that Uisce beatha is better from England next! It isn't, never was, never will be - go raibh mΓle maith agat! But yes, even if Rovers did serve the Liffey water at the ground, there would be an ice-cube in hell's chance of it coming out anything less than pish, so one of the local pubs is definitely a good shout for a pint before the game. Here's something to get your taste buds salivating πŸ˜‰
  16. They've been battling a Covid outbreak amongst staff. Hopefully all will be well (pardon the pun) and 't cowbrown will be open again for this afternoon's game. Slightly nervous once again as we head into the new year - a lot is riding on the form over the next few games. Keep a settled side and continue to exhibit cohesion and team spirit and we will be fine. COYB!
  17. What are we to make of the growing media conviction that BBD is the focus of strong attention from Leeds and Brighton this January? If it was me, I'd stay till the end of the season, just to see where it goes - but then again, as we know with Rovers, things can go from being rosy at home, to being desperately bad very quickly. So, maybe his head might be turned by the prospect of getting to test himself in the Premier League sooner, rather than later. I do hope not!
