  1. For sure, I am just saying I do not understand why our scouting department seemingly does not go any further than the home islands anymore.
  2. Has a point though -it seems like scouting abroad stopped at this club after the Portugeezers and those French lower league duds - which were all brought in via agents anyway (so doubt there was actually any scouting involved). We used to pick up some excellent bargains. N'zonzi is another one that should be added to the list above.
  3. Didnt know where to put this but this thread seems to be a good fit: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11600697/watch-jason-mcateer-kicks-michael-I have been stopped from posting this by moderators.-after-star-sixes-clash Warning: Hated ex manager alert. Edit: Haha, ironically, the edited moderated link will give some clues to who it is.
  4. Seems to be the case these days, anyone fighting for promotion or trying to avoid relegation are not interested in the extra games. We were the same last season and our strong lineup against Newcastle has to be simply because we're midtable and unlikely to go down or go up.
  5. How can we not back out of it? He is our player and this is a loan move. Much like in any loan move a parent club can recall a loanee when they feel like it - we would just recall him before sending him.
  6. Raya is still very young for a goalkeeper, a position which players often do not peak in until they are much older than those in other positions. Sure, there are areas he can improve but for his age you will not find any better in this division, or any in fact. I am in the camp that he will develop into a PL level goalie.
  7. Cannot agree with that statement. Both been decent fleetingly and I just feel both in the same team is pointless. One of them alongside either Travis or Reed is acceptable enough but I would love Reed and Travis as our CM pairing going forward - wont happen though.
  8. Who was that RB that was so good that we had to play two LB's to nullify?
  9. Would be a bit of a gamble. Done well the last couple of seasons but prior to that he has never pulled up any trees, 4 in 40 for Yeovil before joining the Gils.
  10. Travis MOM again, like a new signing this kid. Talk of loaning him out should be well out of the window now and should be one of the first names on the team sheet each week. Such potential and already so good now - kids gonna have a great career.
  11. He was pretty awful against us to be fair but then they all were.
  12. Of course he does - not like him to cover many bases is it?
  13. So a small minority of a small minority want him sacked?
  14. L1 and L2 rated players sure, but those that bounced up fairly easily such as us, Sheff Utd, Wigan and probably Sunderland had squads that at their core were Championship experienced players. They have 2 or 3 lads from Shrewsbury off the back of one wonder season, that Harrison striker who came from L1 and Gwion Edwards (who I would wager will be gone in the summer) who replaced some big money Championship standard departures. Lambert is already moaning about players contracts being allowed to whittle down to the final 6 months - so those guys might decide to jump ship too. Cannot see them walking it and playoffs might be their best hope.
  15. Nothing wrong with changing opinions - it is always going to happen the longer BB is sparingly used. If we get to the end of the season and BB is still only seen as a last 10 minute guy and is rarely used up front, I doubt even the most optimistic of fans will be saying it was a good transfer and the best way that the money could have been used.
  16. Hardly played since getting a cruciate knee ligament injury in the season Sunderland were relegated from the Prem. 6 appearances in the Championship last year and only 4 appearances so far this season in L1.
  17. I would seriously be pulling out all the stops to be bringing in Reed. I would imagine Norwich (after his popular stint there last season) and a few other clubs will be interested in him after his performances for us though. He obviously enjoys it here and just hope that we are constantly whispering in his ear.
  18. Striker and RB sounds good but we could really do with a CB - uglier the better.
  19. The fact that he is an attacking midfielder makes me a little nervous. Unless of course he was just going to be a direct replacement for Palmer rather than somebody else.
  20. They will find it tough to get out of L1 in my opinion too. Hurst shipped out loads of Championship experience from their squad and replaced it with L1 players so I really cannot see them walking that league like so many others that have gone down have. Think in hindsight many of them would have put up with a less exciting but effective brand of football under MM.
  21. Our goals shipped column alone shows that just having these two their for defensive duties is not really working. A more dynamic pairing of Reed and Travis would mean that we would retain the ball a lot better and use it better to get forward rather than just giving it back to the oppo time after time. Reed and Travis are both high octane in your face midfielders that never stop running but they are also much more capable on the ball.
  22. Believe Williams contract expires at the end of the season and is in a very similar situation to Reed in that he is 25 now and on the fringes of his PL club. Lindsay is a young CB that is attracting admirers from Italy and in the PL from the likes of Brighton. Think I read that it would take 3 million to sign him.
  23. Always knew Bellamy was a bit of a dick but that has really soured my view of him.
