  1. Maybe there’ll be some rich Americans watching on Monday who might fancy following in the footsteps of Ryan + Rob

  3. Exactly, arrange the deals, arrange the contracts, all these premier league loans, all these players we’ve brought into the academy that have been nowhere near the first team squad, some have been here for years, don’t think transfer fees matter to them tbh
  4. Correct, the plan would be harder in the prem as the academy lads wouldn’t get the minutes to progress, in league 1 they wouldn’t get the value, so tread water in the championship forever + stay under the radar. You’d think we would have made the playoffs at least once under Venky’s. Every time we get close we cut back when a bit of investment could get us over the line.
  5. We’re being run as an academy club. First team results are less important than player development, promotion has never been the aim under this lot. It’s all about finding young promising players and making them better. No point having a player like Travis on the bench, might as well have him playing somewhere else so he’s in the shop window. Seems highly suspicious to me that we’ve suddenly got a raft of players fit mid January especially Gallagher just when we get a bid in for him. JDT had a look of someone yesterday who is having his team ripped out from under him. Think getting rid of him would be pointless, they’ll only appoint someone to play the exact same way. Remember the quote from Mowbray, “I’m not a results based coach, I’m a development coach.” Think this is why they’ve taken the coach away from recruitment, JDT is powerless to prevent player sales. Who is setting the agenda tho, this is the question, who benefits from all the player trading, all along the academy funding has been the one constant throughout Venky’s tenure. Can’t get money for a new pitch, stadium maintenance or a young centre half though. I don’t buy that this is the best way to progress the club, sell a player + re invest like Brentford, not what’s happening + I don’t buy the Indian authorities investigation meaning we have to cut the the budget in half either. JDT, Waggott, + GB have all been hired to fit in with the plan. This might all be complete tosh, I’m not ITK, just a fan for over 50 years who’s sick of it + just wants his club back 😢 Venky’s out.
  6. I was on the Wimbledon game in 85, was a shocking night, torrential rain + we were 5-0 down from the 1st leg if my memory is correct, think we won 2-1 🤔
  7. Always thought “encore une fois” by sash would be a good walk out tune
  8. In 1978, Southport were thrown out despite not finishing bottom ( That was Rochdale) Wigan replaced them who had Bobby Charlton on the board at the time who pulled in some votes from his mates at the football league. Was a disgrace , Port have never got close to getting back in . Main reason was they built a new main stand costing around £70,000 which nearly bankrupted them .
  9. We’ve decided to give this a miss under current circumstances, season ticket holders but health more important than footy , considering we missed Brentford, QPR + Hull, + haven’t witnessed a victory since Barnsley could be a blessing.
  10. Well that was disappointing, not made any better by seeing Lyle Taylor at Charnock Richard services. Not fair to judge on 1 game but not convinced by Walton at all. Got to blame the first goal on him, should’ve been claiming that cross all day long. Can’t remember him coming for a cross all match tbh. Maybe that’s being used to playing behind Dan Burn. Have to say I’d be picking Leutwiller next week on that performance. Johnson was excellent, just the sort of nasty bugger cm we’ve been crying out for yonks. Thought Downing did well also but Rothwell was probably our form player at the end of last year, shouldn’t be on the bench. All in all a very bad day + with the fixtures coming up this month hard to see us with many points before September.
  11. Well I went to my first ever u23 game today, enjoyed it immensely. We had planned to go to Haig Ave as it’s quite local to us so decided to go anyway when it was changed. Agree with a lot of Parsons post above, especially about Chapman. He was sharp, pacey + threatening , but too often ends up losing the ball. Unlucky when he hit the bar though. The stand out for me however was Tom White. On today’s evidence, we’ve got a player here. Strong in the tackle, always available, comfortable on the ball + has certainly got a pass in him. Would like to see him against better opposition but very impressed today. Charlie Albison was excellent in goal for Port , without him, could have been 5 or 6. Thoroughly enjoyable experience though + can’t wait to see how these lads progress.
