  1. Anyone got a link to one of Burnleys messageboards please! There was one but i cant find it !
  2. £4.5M POSSIBLY THATS POSSIBLY RISING TO £5M if thats true with no quality incoming striker thats potential disaster .....not good news at all for Rovers . Completely gutted !
  3. Its pathetic if Rovers are held shotgun over the fee and recieve something lower than what they wanted.
  4. If Feguson goes, and Rovers dont bring in a quality forward then you might aswell write the rest of the season off ! Relegation will be closer than needs to be... and a win in the cup game against Burnley will be in jeopardy which is unacceptable.
  5. JANSEN HAS GOT TO GO, new contract, stop living in the past and look to the future !
  6. Come on Waggy, these people i.e Barry Ferguson are paid to do a job.... not love the club or the fans. If Ferguson wants to apply for another job then surely we are all strong enough and big enough to support that person in their aim - is that not being totally professional. If the grass isnt any greener on the other side, like what seems to be developing between Rovers and Rangers then surely we have gained far more respect from the said individual. Reports suggest that not only can Rangers not match Rovers valuation but they cant match his wages either! To boo Ferguson because he deemed himself ineligible for work - YES, but not whilst hes doing the job, unless he does the job poorly.
  7. Emmerton does seem to bash his bishops role with great regularity but now his his time to prove his real worth to the The idea is if Flitcroft wins the ball deep he plays it wide to Emmerton or MGP low risk, if its central then the others have to run with the ball to give the others time to get into threatening positions. Running with the ball is key without losing it under pressure central or wide with movement upfront essential. Each attack must end with a shot at goal and back we re group pressuring Chelsea.
  8. How to play Chelsea with the men we've got. Can Rovers play the traditional 4-4-2 with the men we have, i think we would be left wide open if we did. So i think we should take a leaf out of Chelseas book by playing a back four with a diamond shape central midfield.... thats one midfielder preferably Flitcroft between the midfield and defence just like Makelele does for Chelsea with Savage and Thompson just ahead either side of Flitcroft and Dickov on the tip of the Diamond. Dickov has to play off Gallas and not Terry becuase Tery will put Dickov in his pocket. Emmerton and MGP play their usual wide roles, these lads have got to be encouraged to shoot across goal more often instead of trying to set up our weak attackers. The thing i see with these two is that Emmerton can beat his man but wont or cant shoot, whilst MGP can shoot but may struggle in beating his man. One thing we dont want is Chelsea defending on the edge of their box - why ? because thats when they look solid and at their best and have the speed and strength to counter attack or pick us off at will with the speed they carry. Bring the Chelsea team into our half if possible with their defenders near to the half way line and then we can try and open them up, this has to be the tactics - we tried it at the Bridge but Matteo and Gray fell asleep and we ended up conceding two easy goals. If we play our usual game they would pull us to pieces and dont forget Richard Dinnis commented on the local radio that he had seen the Chelsea scout on Rovers last six outings, so they obviously know everything about the Rovers so we have to give Chelsea the unexpected.
  9. Just back from the match and yes we were lucky, they missed a couple of sitters second half, plus i thought they had a legitimate claim for a penalty as for us, Pedersen was definitely the pick of our attack although we werent that impressive in attack despite three goals. Funniest moment had to be MGP jumping into the Blackburn end celebrating his goal then falling over the advertisment borads and promptly being jumped on by about thirty Blackburn enders whilst everbody waiteds for him to come back on. Gally and Tugay brought absolutely nothing to the team, Lucas Neill's mind was simply not focused on the game. As for Matteo hes just Dominic Matteo... he did try harder in the second half but none of these four lads would not look out of place in the league below. I felt more comfortable when Johansson joined Todd in the centre of defence and Mokeona went into the defensive midfield position. Overall were through but we desperately need some quality attackers to take Rovers on further.
  10. If your going to Pompey for the weekend then get yourselves down to Gunwharf - a redeveloped naval dockyard with a large shopping complex including lots of continental cafes, bars and clubs. If your aged between twenty to late thirties and enjoy the pub club culture and intend on stopping in Portsmouth for the night, then definitely book yourself into the Holiday Inn Express at Gunwharf for around £60 a night - you wont be disappointed ! Even if your of an older generation and want to see historic Portsmouth, the sea front with some splendid sea views, Nelsons Victory, The Mary Rose and many other attractions you definitely wont be disappointed. By the way the other Holiday Inn at Southsea is only a ten minute walk away from Gunwharf and old Potsmouth. The only disappointment in Portsmouth is, i have to say, is the shoddy Fratton Park, fingers crossed it doesnt rain.
  11. God dam it, wished i'd paid more attention regarding Bruce for Oldhamon match of the day, Waggy. Intersesting reading peoples comments regarding Stead, Matteo and Pedersen - i think what they are all saying is what we've known for a while. Matteos passing or agricultural kicking with his left foot - how on earth has this man ......made a living from professional football in the premiership, unbelievable, staggering in fact, football has to be corrupt to allow such a talentless individual into earning vast sums of money without ability to back it up. Its way beyond comprehension for the common man. Stead isnt improving but credit for the Rovers fans in supporting him through these lean times. Pedersen has ability but lacks that physical presence fingers crossed he can make it .
  12. Out of order for singling Andy Todd out for our defensive performances - the whole team should be praised for having applied themselves from the front boys right across the midfield in closing down the opposition and protecting Brad Friedels goal. Lucas Neill has looked a far better player in recent weeks to me. It made me laugh when Todd (second half) made a mistake against Charlton and then had to work hard to retrieve the ball back, when he did, the crowd chanted his name - HERO or what! Todd to me hasnt played any better then any other Rover during our good spell but... he has made a contribution but lets not go over the top. He might not be able to retrieve his next mistake.
  13. I went to that game with my mates. We stood behind the goal on the end nearest the town centre. I was amazed that there were groups of Rovers fans and Wanderers fans all side by side. When we won a corner we all clapped but others were deathly quiet and when they won a corner others were cheering and we were quiet. It was quite weird. Sam Allardyce was playing in that match. Roger Jones was magnificent for us. The following day's football headlines read "33,000". There wasn't a space to be seen on the terraces. I also stood on the Railway End that evening, duffel coat hood over my head, worried sh**less that one of the 100’s of darts and pool balls thrown by the Notlob fans was going to hit me, throughout the match, getting worse after Faz scored at the Leaver End At the final whistle loads of Rovers fans decided not to run the gauntlet of walking back down the main road to the station, and climbed over the back wall and head for the station along the tracks…happy days.. My dad took me to that third division game, he was the old school where he used to follow Bolton and Blackburn but he seemed to fall out with Blackburn after the 60 cup final. I remember walking from the bus station down Manchester road to the ground with Rovers fans scuffling with Bolton fans on the way to the game. I clearly remember a bin being set on fire along the way and then both sets of fans mingling and chanting on the big open air end. My dad quite sensibly took me home before Faz scored a late winner. As we left there was about 200 Bolton fans waiting to get into the open air end probably to cause trouble - i think the game made the front pages for hooliganism because the Bolton fans smashed the special train parked behind the railway end. 33,000 for a third division game peolpe go on about Burnley being our biggest draw but Bolton v Blackburn is the biggest Lancashire crowd puller there is.
  14. How many times did Bolton play the long ball up in the air they definitely looked like the Wimbledon of the north. I wonder how many coaching certificates you need to play that kind of football - looks like big Sam has gone as far as he can.
  15. Friedel organised the wall, yes you could say maybe an extra body would have helped but watching the goal from behind the nets Matteo had an opportunity to get in the way of the ball instead he ducked out of the way -unacceptable. Matteo and Steads performances were unacceptable to me not only in that instance but through the game but i'll remain loyal to Friedel and give him the benefit of the doubt though it is the second time he has been done by Robert.
  16. Somebody stated that they thought Brad was at fault for both goals - to me that beggers belief, i can not undestand how you can fault the goalie when someone runs at you unchallenged from 25 yards out. Then Brad set up a wall with cover in the right places and then the defenders duck out of the way of the ball - criminal..... Stead and Matteo being the guilty party. Then in the second half Matteo missed timed a clearance that caused mayhem in the Rovers box - luckily Rovers rescued the situation but we could have gone another goal behind. Stead just got poorer and poorer in the second half -miss timing challenges passing the ball out of play. As for what the majority of you are saying is yes we desperately need a new quality striker - someone who will tip the balance of draws into wins. I remember Ferguson getting goal side of the Newcastle midfield and running with the ball towards the Newcastle defenders with their midfield in hot pursuit, Ferguson was looking for the forwards to make a run or show for the ball but both did neither and Ferguson passed it sideways to Emmerton...... the attack slowed down and Newcastle got back in numbers. Scandolous forward play from our two attackers i hope Hughesy spotted it! But on a more positive note the organisation, application and commitment is there we just need a bit more quality to go with it and we can all look forward to a brighter future.
  17. After watching Football first we definitely were a better stronger team than Palace which fills me with optimism for the future. I thought we looked like a team - everyone seemed to work for one another but the weaknesses are there for all to see or lack of quality to bury a team like Palace with ease. But at least everyones rolling up their sleeves and doing their best which is what we need. As for Palace attacks on our goal i thought Todd was the main culprit in letting Palace in - one when were Todd got caught out of position towards the half way line and Johnson run on goal and Friedel made an excellent save to earn us a point. Then there was a Palace cross that Todd missed, luckily ithe Palace player failed to connect with his head inside the six yard box which could have led to us conceding an easy goal. Then there was the one were Todd nearly gave a penalty away on the edge of the box. If Todd was somebodys man of the match then i'm very concerned for our team but overall the criticism goes to our strikers having failed to give us that edge that cutting edge in winning footaball matches. Watching Bothroyd, Dickov and Stead plus Gally last weak we definitely need not one striker but two strikers at the club of an higher calibre. I know money is tight but were talking about the immediate future of the club - securing premeirship status and instilling confidence and excitement into the fans we need some quality strkers from somewhere.
  18. Totally agree with Bryan and Scotty in their assessments on who should go. Spot on lads ! Interesting to hear J.Williams qoute in tonights LET that Rovers budgeted the wages for a mid table position is that ambition or what.
  19. It will be a crying shame if Gamst cant get a bit more physical because if he cant his English career is all but over. When ive seen him play for Norway hes been excellent lets hope he comes through this period a stronger footballer than when he joined us. But howcome tough man bully boy didnt spot these weaknesses in MGP's makeup.
  20. If Bolton charge a penny more than what we would charge Bolton to go to Ewood then we should all make a stance and make sure the club dont sell one ticket for the game and block the club from selling tickets and disuade fellow Rovers supporters from being exploited from supporting their team - somebody has to make a stance against these gypos. Come on chaps youve got the moral high ground if Bolton want more than what we would charge their supporters to come here.
  21. Did anybody notice the argueing going on between our players during the match especiallly second half. 1. Barry Ferguson with Bothroyd and referee had to call them both together. 2. Emmerton and Gray started slagging one another off - Hughes then substituted Gray and put Matteo in his place. Very worrying and we obviously dont have the team spirit required to get us out of this mess along with the lack of talent.
  22. Should i stand or should i go now, who stands up, how many stand up and for how long do they stand up. Casting an eye from the riverside stands during the game for the good of the image of Blackburn Rovers Football club to me, it looks great, and has to remain so ....... when the lower tier of the Blackburn End stands and rocks whilst cheering on the team, this to me looks great to see and portrays a positive image that should be encouraged in all home sections of the ground at all times (put that in your fans charter). In fact id love to add bannners and more blue and white colour into the scheme of things to compliment the fanatics of the Blackburn end but thats another issue. To prevent the standing up and cheering the team on especially in the current difficult times is an unwelcomed abuse of power by those known individuals in charge of policing the safety of games at Ewood whilst the opposition fans just do what they please. From the view i have had this season is one Rovers fans havent had many opportunities to stand up and cheer their team on so poor the performances have been. In a ninety minute game do these fans stand up for more than ten minutes during a game? The other point is i only ever see Rovers fans standing at the top of block No 1 in the Blackburn end and they are right at the back affecting who ? The spirit of the game for some of the Blackburn enders has certainly been tarnished with the club issueing threatening letters to certain individuals. This is bang out of order and the people in charge of the club need to repremand these club employees who instigated such proceedings.
  23. Gally does lack pace and strength for premiership football but he has skill and is intelligent but wether he can progress - who knows. Many on this board say get him in, but i think its blind faith and that their hoping for a local hero to come to our rescue which would be good but i agree with what your saying thenodrog.
  24. That was the first ever international i've ever seen at Ewood, got to say, was mightly impressed by the whole event. Lets hope there are more to come and Rovers establish themselves as a regular international venue for the stars of the future or... tomorrows stars at todays prices. Agree with the comments about Davenport he looked good .....but how good were the Welsh lads to benchmark him against. The left back also impressed Harding, if thats his name of Brighton, he looked far better than the awful foreigner we have in Gresko which asks me what was the previous management playing at in taking Blackburn Rovers Football club forward.
