  1. Leave him alone he's only wee. The big thug who was marking him was about twice his size so he had to give him a few sly kicks to try and even things up a bit. Don't get too cocky because judging by Slovenia's result they will be beating your bunch of huddies to the play-off place.
  2. Is it right that we are up foir sale or is it just paper talk? You don't get much coverage on Rovers up here any more but a few people were talking about it on Saturday. Perhaps we could do with being taken over by someone. In the past at least we have known that the owners of the club have had the best interests of the club at heart even when we had no money at all. At the moment....who knows? The club is short of leadership on and off the pitch. Hughesie could put things right on the pitch but what about in the boardroom. Come on Whelan. Get rid of that poxy bunch of pie munchers and get your arse back to Ewood where you belong.
  3. There's no way fergie is coming back to Rangers. He left them to get away from the poisonous atmosphere which goes with playing for Celtic/Rangers and is hardley likely to rush back after a year. The Scottish Sun just makes up stories about who Celtic/Rangers are signing all the time and are right about once a season. Ignore it!
  4. Oh yes he was. Not the ones I know (but then, they are quite sensible people, and we all know the opinion of such people is never worth considering in football - much too boring). Agree that the opinion of many Huns is often cliouded by non-football matters and you don't hear much from the more sensible but silent majority. Lets face it though. The guy is a clown who just isn't good enough. He used to make many blunders up north but would usually get away with it as someone big huddy like Craig Brewster would trundle after the ball at an even slower pace than Amo. In the Premiership his mistakes are punished and he makes far too many for any good points of his game to compensate for them. He would probably do OK in the lower divisions and if he carries on he might just get the chance to prove it next season.
  5. I would love to see Amo put out to pasture. I don't think I can take much more of his careless and sloppy defending. In all honesty though I can't think of that many of the current squad who we couldn't afford to lose. This particularly applies to the defence and the midfield so if better players are available Hughesie whould do some wheeling and dealing.
  6. BEB, I think there was a similar situation at Boro which involved doing a slalem back onto the M-way to avoid Dibble and get to the boozer before the escort kicked in. Enjoy tomorrow night:- "don't be bitten twice, you've gotta suss suss suss suss suss suss suss the suspect device".
  7. A bit better today. Yuri's ball for the second goal was pure magic wasn't it. He looks class as we expoected him to be. Dickov works so hard he deserves some decent support and some better service but we can't seem to get it right just now. I know he has his fans but I must say that Amo was F'ing crap again today. Both goals were down to his failure to pick up his man and he was trurned repeatedly. What with him and Neill at the back its no wonder we let so many goals in. Judging by the rest of the player's reaction after the 2nd goal I reckon they're sick to death of the big useless pony as well.
  8. Centre half is a position where we have had some great players over the years. In my era we've had Keeley, Fazackerley, Mail, Moran, Hendry, May, Berg & Henchoz...........and Peacock. Its got to be Big Col for me but if I could pick 2 I would have Moran as Colin's partner. Keeley would be a good man to have on the bench in case the opposition were getting a bit physical. Remember some of those tackles, eg Bobby Davidson v Derby. We could so do with 2 of these players now (not Peacock of course).
  9. Whats the story with Todd now? Is he injured or is he not in the squad becausae he has not played. I would play Todd and Matteo as centre backs myself. We could perhaps go with 3 in midfield and Djorkaeff behind the front 2 if he's fit to start. We could really do with getting Thommo back as he adds a bit of energy to midfield. COME ON YOU BLUES! make it worth getting up at 6 am please.
  10. I think we should be patient with Fergie as he did have a bad injury last season. On saying that I don't think he is as good as Souness reckons he is. When we signed him a few Huns I spoke to were gutted but fans of other clubs thought that he hid in big games and never performed against quality opposition. I'm not sure that he's much of a leader. If Sounes wants him I presume he'll be offering at least £10M the way he always raves about him.
  11. MCMC, remember it well. The only problem was we'd leave Whalley at 10.30 but still be in Haslingdon at about 1.00 and miss the kick off. I would say that beer in vast quantities was an essential ingredient of away travel, particularly this season. Try the train, it pisses on any other methos of away travel.
  12. We don't have a good record against Villa at home do we? Never mind, we'll stuff 'em. I can't see Villa as being anything more than a very dull and very average team who we can beat if we play well and don't give them a goal start. COME ON YOU BLUES! 2-1 Rovers (Dickov, Stead) Att : 20,902
  13. Agree, he's a class act and if he turns out to be a waster we can get rid in January. Nothing to lose. If he is as fit as he claims then he could improve our team as we are crying out for a bit of class. Where will he play though?
  14. Is 52 games a world record withour getting a penalty? It can't be far off.
  15. Totally agree MJS. We never look like scoring and always look like conceding. I'm not knocking the forwards as they played OK but never got any service. How many times did Emerton try and cross it in and failed. Ferguson was a disgrace in midfield, he's supposed to be the captain yet he did absolutely nowt. The goal was a soft 1 as well. There's no point complaining about the ref because we diudn't deserve anything anyway. The only positive to take out of the seaon to date is...look at the teams below us.
  16. We could do with a defender who would clear the ball rather than passing it round witing to put us back into trouble. The problem at the back is that we can't get it out. Why so angry anyway, surely in a forum like this Rovers fans should be able to say what they like about the players who represent us. I don't think Amo is good enough to wear the shirt, perhaps you do, fair enough but at the end of the day we are all on the same side.
  17. Mmmm. I can't see it myself. I for 1 close my eyes every time he goes near the ball. Hughes's main priority should be to bring in a leader at the back as soon as he can. The amount of times today I have heard about how Charlton are going to surge up the league with a win tomorrow. Hopefully their team will take it for granted as much as the media seems to be doing.
  18. Personally I don't care if Amo is fit or not because I don't think he should play anyway. I know he's a soft target and everything but he really does make far too many blunders for a player at Premiership level and I reckon he's a liability. When he was at Rangers he used to make errors and get away with them but now he gets punished because the oppositions better. I also don't think he gets his head in enough when balls are coming across the box. Then again, who've we got to replace him? Still think we might sneak it tomorrow but I don't imagine it will be a classic.
  19. Which, I didn't realise there was more than 1. Of course I realise who you are now MC. Hows it going mate?
  20. Which, I didn't realise there was more than 1. By the way, if anyone down there is considering going to see SLF in a couple of weeks in Blackburn then get yourself along. I saw them in Edinbutgh last night and it was magic.
  21. The few Burnley fans who remember them winning anything already do take holidays there I think.
  22. Glenn, No that wasn't me. I think I know who you mean though. There were 2 brothers from falkirk but I can't remember what they were called.
  23. Attention any Scottish based Rovers fans. A few of us will be watching the game on Monday in the Queens Arms on Frederick Street in Edinburgh. This is the usual meeting place for TV games and there is usually a crowd of several hundred (about 10 actually). Come along and drown your sorrows. My prediction : 1:0 Rovers. Reason : the laws of football dictate that you will win when you least expect to and we usually do well in London.
  24. Looked from the highlights like classic Rovers defending. It seems to me that since henning Berg left we have lacked leadership, particularly at the back. You need people to want to get to the ball first when it comnes in the box but how many times do you see it bouncing through the area with everyone leaving it for someone else. Its pathetic. How many goals have we conceded over the last year and a bit from failing to clear simple balls. On Emerton, I've never been a fan, apart from his debut of course. His crapness could be down to how he's been told to play however as Souness was very sceptical of wingers I think. Maybe its time for him to show us what he can do at last. How did Lucas Neill perform against 3rd division players? Like he always does I suppose, @#/?.
