  1. I downloaded it a few hours ago from download.com and I am pretty pleased with it. It really does seem to load pages faster ... Thanks Sam ...
  2. Many years ago I used to travel on the Victoria line regularly. Looking at the underground map, there's 8 stops to Seven Sisters from Victoria. Allowing yourself a maximum of 5 minutes for stop to stop, I would say it will probably take you 40 minutes max to get to Seven Sisters from Victoria.
  3. If seats are sold out do you think it'll be possible to get in if people bring along an inflatable chair?
  4. Nice one Alan. I really liked the comment "When I joined the club, I called him Mr Walker and he told me, that if I didn’t call him Jack, then I might as well ###### off." Nice. Very nice.
  5. Listening to some old skool Cure. Album by the name of Bloodflowers which my friend lent to me.
  6. Rover6. I admire your undeterred, single-minded, tunnel-vision campaign on this fine message-board to rid the Rovers of Souness but all you are succeeding in doing is uniting the majority of the members.
  7. It's not often that I make post-match posts. Here's one. It was indeed a disappointing evening but I think asking for Souness to go at such an early stage in the season is nothing short of a knee-jerk reaction. I cannot be absolutely sure that he'll turn it around but I for one am willing to give the man *at least* until mid-season to come up with better results. I *do* have faith in the man. I didn't watch the match because I was at work but I will be waking up at four in the morning to see it on Fox Sports World. Talking of which, doesn't that count as support? Missing sleep for the love of the club? Reading the report on the BBC it sounded like we were once again unlucky in front of goal. Deja vous on spells in past seasons anyone? This bad luck can't possibly continue. I hope not. Fingers crossed. Finally, I agree that some of Souness' tactics were puzzling, especially that of putting a lone striker up front. Up the Rovers!
  8. Bought the new Starsailor and Spiritualized albums along with Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man's album, Out Of Season. Haven't had a chance to really give the Spiritualized album a good listen yet but I have played the other two albums regularly. Love them.
  9. I've lately dug out my dust-covered copy of Roni Size's debut album, New Forms. Seem to appreciate it better second time round.
  10. About to finish Fast Food Nation. It's a good insightful book on the workings of the fast food industry, focussing in particular on the market in the 'States. For anyone who wants to continue to enjoy eating hamburgers and for whom Maccy D's is home from home stay well away. For those who like to seek out truth, I thoroughly recommend it. I don't know if I have already mentioned this but I am a big fan of Carl Sagan and his books, Dragons Of Eden and Demon Haunted World are fascinating. Thoroughly recommend them. Recently I read a good work of fiction by an author called Anita Rau Badami. The book is called The Hero's Walk and it's about how a family in India copes with raising the infant grand-daughter they have never seen following the death of their daughter and her husband in Canada. It's a nice, easy and captivating read.
  11. So I have a question for y'all. Sorry, that's the southern (American) in me coming out. A Brit in the 'States for too long I guess. My question is; British music or American music? Which do you prefer? Which is leading the way? I personally feel that British music is more diverse and I like that and in that respect I feel it's more progressive. From Primal Scream to Massive Attack, Goldfrapp to Badly Drawn Boy, Chemical Brothers to Beth Orton, Radiohead to Coldplay. What a diverse set of music from such a small island! Perhaps this deserves a thread of it's own? I don't know. Just thought it fitted here. I love music and I buy at least a couple of albums each month and most of the time they are by British bands. True, we have our fair share of $&^# music (though thankfully I am insulated from that living in the 'States) but if you are a music lover you will dig out the good stuff. Anyway, I digress. I am mostly listening to all of the artists/bands mentioned above as well as American artists such as DJ Shadow and recyling classics from Leftfield, U2, Depeche Mode and Cranberries.
  12. My recent and successful discovery has been Hooverphonic, a Belgian trip-hop/trip-pop band. Their first two albums are very good. Their third and last album I can't comment on since I haven't got it yet.
  13. philipl. PM me if you need advice and travel tips for going to Peru...
  14. philipl, a bit of an open question there in my opinion... If your question refers to books ABOUT Peru (history, politics, people, culture, etc) then I am clueless as to books on that subject. However, if you are planning to travel to Peru then the Rough Guide book is fine. It also BRIEFS you on the history, politics, people and culture of Peru. Note however that the 'Rough' in 'Rough Guide' should be taken literally at times of travel. In addition, before I went I did a lot of research on the 'net and I found web travelogs to be probably the most useful sources of information before journeying to Peru.
  15. Bought 'Stupid White Men' today on your advice- will let you know what I think when I finish it. Am not going on holiday until July, so I think i'll have been through all the books by then... oh well.... Well. Just got back from Peru where I took with me 'Stupid White Men' by Michael Moore. Good stuff. Easy, enjoyable reading. In hindsight I wish I'd taken another book with me since I got through 'Stupid White Men' very quickly...
