  1. Blue Bruce liking my post from 2 years ago drew me back to this thread so I thought I would do an update. We took delivery of a new MG5 on a two year lease last May and have done nearly 8,000 miles - we are both retired and now with one car only but we travel quite a bit and are in London a lot on the train. The MG5 is at the cheaper end of the EV market but it has been perfectly good for us. We get 250-275 miles range, dropping to c220 in the winter, which is very good. With CCS charge capability longer trips are no problem at all now. Driving to London a couple of times we have just stopped once for 15-20 minutes to charge, which frankly is what we would have done anyway for a wee and a coffee. In fact most times we have come back to the car to find more charge than we planned to get. We sold our 6 year old Renault Zoe for £6,800 in September. It had been an excellent choice and no doubt still is for the new owner. As a second car it was the one we always used as first choice going anywhere in a 50 mile range of home. Given it was an early model it only had a Type C charger and a fairly small range (140-200 miles) it was more awkward for longer journeys as the charging was slow. But we had it as a sole car for 9 months and it was fine. I visit a number of travel websites and often travellers will ask about the practicality of hiring an electric car in the U.K. You inevitably get a string of people saying how it’s wholly impractical, there aren’t enough chargers, lots of them are broken etc etc. All posted by people who have never driven an EV and who refuse to accept any contrary advice from those who have. The reality is that now driving an EV is perfectly fine, as long as you have somewhere regular to charge it near home. A charger at home is the obvious best plan but I realise not everyone can do that. But there are schemes for home chargers to be shared and street charging is getting more available too. We use Ecotricity for our home fuel and they now have an overnight rate of 7.5p per KWh so the fuel cost for nearly all our driving is ridiculously cheap. And the electricity is all renewable for us. And also, discounting all the environmental and economic reasons EVs are just so much more enjoyable to drive.
  2. I don't think I get your point Hasta. The club currently make the great majority of their streaming profit from UK sales and they will be losing that. Overseas sales are small, as you might probably expect.
  3. I know nothing about the costs involved, but presumably the club will be filming the games anyway and they will still be doing the commentary for the audio feeds, so maybe the marginal cost is minimal?
  4. Rovers will still offer audio in the UK but won’t be able to do TV. They can still offer TV outside the UK but that only gives a small income.
  5. If we win we’re mathematically safe, as Huddersfield and Birmingham have still to play each other.
  6. I have a friend who is a Wednesday fan who for many years lived in Rawtenstall. Matt Smith has presumably never lived nearer Ewood than Northampton.
  7. I wouldn’t be surprised to see McFadzean take up some sort of behind the scenes role with Eustace. I noticed at the Southampton game that at half time he spoke to every one of the 11 on field players as they came off. I would assume that he is adopting some sort of role already, whether official or unofficial.
  8. Looking at how MannUnited defend I think there’s every chance Coventry will be planning another trip to Wembley when they play us, and not for the play-off final.
  9. The Sky commentators were very clear that they thought that they weren’t penalties. And in truth there was no outrage from either Leeds players or fans.
  10. Actually the very best teams to play right at the end of the season are those who can’t go up automatically but are guaranteed a play-off place. It’s possible the both Coventry and Leicester could be in that category. Not likely but possible.
  11. Whilst we might not have picked up many points under Eustace, not only have we slowed down the number of goals conceded we have stopped conceding a lot of late ones since he arrived. Just 1 so far after 75 minutes.
  12. Indeed he does but my point was that there is no control about who is voting. Presumably I could go and give Adam a 9 every game without even seeing the game. Likewise I could give every Burnley player a 1 every game.
  13. Whilst it’s nice to see Adam doing so well we need to bear in mind that it’s not the BBC making these judgements, it’s just fans on the internet posting whatever scores they like. I assume many are Palace fans watching the game and making informed scores I think anyone can give whatever score they like.
  14. The Rovers commentators made the same comment on RoversTV. Sunderland said they sold 42,000 tickets but there were apparently more like 30,000 there. That gap can't be made up by some ST holders not turning up on the day.
  15. The club have already appointed a Chief Financial Officer to replace him - someone who was Finance Director at Huddersfield.
  16. 1,591. Not sure how that relates to the post above stating that they had sold 1,800 tickets. Still a record attendance though. I went to a women's game for the first time yesterday and had a thoroughly good time. Rovers put away two good goals very early on and were then defending for most of the rest of the game. It was a novelty to see a Rovers player at Ewood just completely beat the Southampton defence for pace for the first goal - not a sight we have seen for a while with the men's team. The front two were lively and the defence very solid but midfield were mostly run over. Hence Southampton had most of the ball but did very little with it apart from a period in the second half when Alex Brooks pulled off a few excellent saves to keep Rovers in front.
  17. I agree that the rules are not fair. But Forest knew what the rules were from the outset, but they carried on buying players. They bought 44 players in 15 months, including 5 goalkeepers and three players who have never played a minute of league football for Forest. They were told by their own FD in January 23 that they needed to sell in that window but they bought some more. The Johnson transfer was not marginally outside the accounting window - it was two months later.
  18. It's considerably better to do it now than the previous policy, which would have led to deductions for next season. I have no sympathy for Forest. They knew the rules, they were told last January try their own FD that they had to sell in the window but bought some more instead. Then they had to sell Brennan Johnson very quickly in the Summer to meet the rules and failed by a day or so.
  19. Arbitro - I checked this with Fraser Read. It seems to be bad wording rather than any deliberate policy. Any fan can get a free under 12s ticket as long as they are either buying an adult ticket for the game or they are already an adult season ticket holder. Adult includes seniors. I have asked him to clarify it on the website.
  20. I'd prefer not to finish third bottom as well..................
  21. What is absolutely nailed on is that there will be some odd results in the run in - there always are. We need to make sure that we get at least one of them.
  22. Given Rovers Women are at Ewood tomorrow night and it will be the 3rd game in 7 days they couldn’t really play it there I guess.
  23. The meeting is being delayed at the request of the fans, not the club. We wanted a meeting to be after the next court date in India, rather than the day before. Likely to be on 26th now.
  24. Contact Christina Haines, Rovers’ Supporter Liaison Officer. She will be able to sort you out. It may also be possible for your friend to loan a headphone set to get match commentary as well.
