  1. Philip - you forgot the 5-0 win we had 4 seasons ago. I will be there but in the South stand with my Wednesday supporting mate, hoping for something similar. That game we were on the Eastbank and I have never seen so many fans leave a game so early as when we scored early in the second half to make it 4-0.
  2. The Riverside has been ruled out. There's not much point in investing in a.stand that you might want to replace and anyway if you put standing space at the back you wouldn't be able to see the pitch.
  3. No I don’t Tyrone. I said he can state his opinion and so can I. And you and everyone else can too.
  4. It’s perfectly allowed for you to state your opinion, just as it is for me to tell you’re wrong about Pickering.
  5. Actually when I wrote my £80 quote I had in mind a figure of £70 but did a google check and saw an FSA £80 estimate so used that. Of course with the way inflation is at the moment £70 or £80 could be £100 by now....
  6. The club aren't asking for fans' views. It was fans who raised this with the club and who wrote the questionnaire. It was actually Mike Graham who wrote the it, which was amended both by other fans and by the club, who made a couple of very sensible amendments. They put it out because it's easier for them to get to more fans quickly than it is for us. Financing is clearly going to be an issue but I was surprised by how positively the club have engaged with us - they had given it quite a bit of thought and had suggestions for us as to practical areas when we met. Safe standing seats don't cost a fortune, around £80 a seat and right now we are looking at a relatively small number being converted. I can't be absolutely sure about future kits but I am reasonably confident that you will see where the fan input went when they are introduced.
  7. That's another Telegraph article that I have written for no fee!
  8. There are lots of people who don't want to stand at games and a lot who do. Surely it makes sense to set up an area where those that do can stand and those that want to sit are much less likely to have people standing around them.
  9. They both need to get through tomorrow and Saturday. After 19 games the suspension kicks in after 10 cards
  10. I was surprised to find when we met them that the club are pretty keen to do this but I think in the current financial situation they can't prioritise the cost. But their hand may be forced if the local SAG (Safety Advisory Group) decide that the consistent standing at Ewood justifies a reduction in capacity. They have been making noises to that effect.
  11. The sub was after 10 minutes arbitro and probably about 8 minutes when he was injured. We made 3 of our subs in the 93rd minute, presumably just to give Leonard, Telalovic and Sigurdsson the chance to stretch their legs. Carter's injury was in the 59th minute, so he played 37 minutes with whatever knock he had.
  12. Excellent pricing but I should point out the meaning of the asterisk against adult prices. The price will actually be £11 per adult with the extra £ going to the Community Trust. Still great value and a worthy cause for a small amount.
  13. This from The Oatcake messageboard sums the game up from me. It was a reply to a post that said "3-0, a fair result". Agreed. Professional performance. They scored quickly then had no obligation to go after a big score line. They defended properly and attacked when they had very limited risk of being caught out.
  14. I thought yesterday's display was primarily an excellent defensive performance. Stoke had the vast majority of the ball and managed one shot on target, none at all after about 7 minutes. There is a fair bit of competition but I made Tronstad our best player, as he probably has been for a few weeks now. It seemed to me that when Scott went off we more or less played 3 at the back with both Travis and Britain operating a bit further forward than a traditional back would play. When under pressure (plenty of the time) both were back with Moran making that back 6. Neil was thoroughly out thought yesterday. Right from the first minute when Stoke set up to attack what he expected would be us playing out from the back and Wahlstedt kicked it long past half the Stoke team from which Szmodics should probably have scored. Neil said after the game that he knew we were weak on scoring from corners - obviously he expected us to play it short. Instead we put in straight on to Scott's head, who Stoke had conveniently left unmarked. He also said that the South Korean lad had a great game so he didn't want to bring Vidigal on - I thought Travis had him in his pocket all afternoon.
  15. Obviously you will sell some more if you discount. That’s a logical marketing move if you can ring your supplier up on Monday and re-stock but Rovers can’t do that. They have what they have and they want it to last so that someone coming into the shop after Christmas still has some choice. That went horribly wrong last season and they upped the order by 20% this season. Sales are ahead of last year and the third kit is pretty much sold out already. It is almost impossible to get sales just right so the last stock is sold on the last day of the season and it’s doubtful that will be achieved this time. But making some big discounts at this time of year when sales are going well just doesn’t make sense.
  16. Why would any commercial organisation discount stock which it is pretty confident it can sell at full price? Kits have been selling well this season.
  17. We have a bad record against them at Ewood - haven’t won since 2015. But our record there is not bad - three wins out of the last five.
  18. Having a canal narrowboat I've spent plenty of time in and around Stoke over the years - indeed the Caldon Canal which starts in Etruria is my favourite. In particular I commend the wonderful (and wonderfully named) Holy Inadequate pub just off the A500 in Etruria. A marvellous selection of ales and craft beers and a great atmosphere.
  19. They are still working their way through them all, because there are over 100 as them.
  20. They won't be moved. If they make the sign central a number of the letters would coincide with the stairs and it will look worse than it is.
  21. There won't be anything around the remembrance events. I think things will probably coalesce around a minute's applause on the 74th minute.
  22. I first met Birdy properly on the infamous trip to Pune some 10 years or so ago. I had gone as a Fans Forum member but he turned up with a few mates who had flown out there themselves. He has also been on the Forum for a number of years subsequently and I regularly saw him at away games as well. As others have said he could be a bit awkward but his heart was very much in the right place, usually covered in a Rovers red rose. Given his history and the award he got for his efforts the club would I think be amenable to some form of action to remember him on Friday night, subject of course to the approval of his wife Annette, who of course was always at his side at games.
