    Somewhat at odds.

The first comment is a blatant piece of crap in relation to JDT and Remy.

He has a UEFA Pro License (the highest level of coaching qualification available) and a Technical Director qualification.

That last line is daft and trotted out too many times in regards to Rovers.

'Who can we sign', 'Who will buy us'. 'Who will manage us' etc etc    There are plenty out there who'd come and as i pointed out it's our first real stab at a having a proper DoF model so what do they do ?

They hire someone who has never done it before then hide in shadows as he presides over another step in the right direction turning to a shit show.  He clearly isn't actually directing anything he's just another intermediate adviser who can't make anything but the most basic decisions and all his ideas and directions have to go through several layers above him before he even gets a 'maybe' answer.

That is why they've hired a rookie and of course in his naivety he'll front up answering questions and taking flak for stuff that isn't down to him.

You're daft to think we have a good reputation in football.

JDT resigned and was replaced by a very inexperienced manager who was gagging for another crack at a Head Coach job. It's not rocket science.

I'd love the Venkys to fuck off - and I do think we'd be an attractive proposition to a buyer (assuming our Indian overlords don't take our training ground / Academy when they leave), but they've made it very clear that they simply don't want to sell.

Hes never been a DoF before and it clearly shows there are times he's winging it because he has no experience in that role with these issues.

Just symptomatic of what has happened many times under this ownership, they employ people who aren't qualified to the required standard for the roles given to them. A constant need to to try and put cheaper yes men in and assume they'll grow into the role.

    Why ?

It all started with Kean and there have been so many examples along the way. It's been the polar opposite of the Jack Walker then John Williams philosophy, if you want the job doing properly and you can afford it then hire the best you can convince to come to the club.

It saves money in the long run and has a far greater chance of delivering what you need.

He's by far the most qualified man in the building (and was even when we had JDT and co employed).

You have to learn on the job at times - it's his first time being a DoF. I'm not entirely sure why he gets caught up in all the hatred (well I do, but I won't go into that) - he's very much earned his crack at a DoF job.

Now ideally you'd want a more experienced DoF to walk into a first-time DoF role at Ewood Park and set up the system - but who worth their salt is going to take on this gig?

I can't see this posted anywhere but not a big fan of this interview with Wharton here. He fails to address the reason he wasn't played much towards the end of last season is as he was looking a bit shit every time he played, coupled with his incredibly costly slip at Deepdale. A lot of finger pointing at JDT but it appears not much at himself.

The players don't seem to acknowledge that for a large part of last season JDT has us competing at a level above what many of us thought we were capable of. It's becoming clear that player attitude is as much to blame as JDT for our fall from grace. Of course, in that situation if the manager has lost the players then he has to go. However dont come on bleating about it when it's you that cost us at the end of last season and have been a large part of our shit run this season.

Basically he challenged them to think for themselves and be better and a lot of them didn't like it - they're much comfortable with a basic Brummy being pally with them and telling them exactly what to do.

    S. Wharton was basically unplayable last season.

Watched on S4C and the commentators basically acknowledging he's not good enough at that level. Fluffed their best opportunity late on when he clearly had no idea what to do. Sounds like a few of our team!! On the plus side he did have the physical presence that we lack - and the way we are playing under Eustace that could have been a useful option that we just don't have

I think he's scored 6 in 10 at this level, which is really all that matters tomorrow.

This really evidences how utterly shite we have been at loans. The majority of successful clubs in this league has 2/3 really quality loan players on their first teams.

You generally need to pay fees for quality loanees.

I'd wager good money that Ayari, Koumetio and Chrisene are on frees. There might have been a small loan fee for Moran, but he's simply run out of steam in his first professional season. James Hill was obviously recalled.

Imo the more you hear from Broughton the more obvious it becomes he's only in it for the ride.

No guarantees given whatsoever regarding transfers going forward but "I've submitted my report". (Roughly translates as "I couldnt care less what happens after that - as long as I continue to get paid Im all right Jack")

I think it roughly translates as "this club is a fucking shitshow. I've done my job and submitted my recommendations, but they've already sabotaged three of my transfers and slashed the wage budget by 20% in a single summer, so I'm not getting my hopes up".

    Each to their own though.

I haven't heard the Jackson interview. I thought Bayes had a good line of questioning but could have been more forensic on the McGuire debacle. For example why was the deal left so late in the window particularly after the fiasco late in the last January window and what changed for it to be on/off. He also said categorically after the last January window that all processes would be reviewed to prevent another O'Brien and Brierley situation yet another transfer fails and brings shame and embarrassment on our club. He was quick to accept responsibility last year but this time it was 'human error'.

Once again there are far more questions than answers.

He wasn't quick to accept responsibility last year - he was the only one willing to put their head above the parapet after a PR disaster, knowing the fans and media demanded an explanation. There was an uncomfortably long period of nothing coming out of the club explaining how the paperwork for 2 players had been fucked up on deadline day.

He was on a hiding to nothing then by being professional.

He's been stabbed in the back again by the same charlatans this January so unsurprisingly doesn't feel the same sense of professional duty to front up for the club.

And what do you know, he's yet to sign a professional contract! Newc after him now.

We are raising star players with little benefit for us! They don't play for us and we don't get a real fee.

    Unsustainable.

The system is currently set up to run 85% of the football pyramid out of business.

The common sense thing to do would be to extend Gallagher's contract, get another 2 year's use out of him,he's already paid for.

Fact of the matter is, if he was at another club, Rovers couldn't afford him. Any similarly experienced forward would want similar wages.

It's a bonkers way to run a football club, isn't it?

He's shit, but we saw last summer that his wages would simply disappear into the financial black hole like Ayala's / Dack's / BBD's did.

Exactly. How many of the current pool would get in a combined 11 with either the Euro 2004 or Euro 96 squad? And that's just in my life time.

None of the GK or defence now is better than Euro 2004 - there's maybe an argument for Walker.

Midfield - Rice maybe but, is he any better than the likes of Carrick, Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard?

Attack - Bellingham absolutely, Foden probably. Kane is obviously absolutely fantastic but England have always had great strikers to choose from - linekar, shearer, Owen, Rooney etc

Compared to the 2014 squad then we are unrecognisably better and we have some really exciting talent but is it really the best crop players we've ever had to choose from?

It's all relative though, isn't it.

Just look at that Wish Brazil team last night. They used to have Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Cafu etc.

International football is in a massive lull - besides France (who we would have beaten if Kane wasn't a serial bottler) there's no more talented team on the intentional stage than this England one.

Assume it would have to be a step back to being an academy director though and that's why he'll cling on here a bit longer. Come summer when he sees no budget and all Raya and Wharton money being liquidised in running costs with the Sammie fee next in line i suspect he'll bail.

If he is being paid really well then probably not.

He's already had three transfer windows with no budget (we're £22m in the black during that time with £4m+ more to come from Raya).

I can't imagine he's holding out hope that they'll start allowing him to spend some actual money in the summer.

He speaks well as always but can't help get away from it sounding like a bit of an ideology rather than the early stages of a cold hard plan.

He can recommend wise words all he wants about how to reinvest and all these other clubs in the early stages of their models but he is fooling no one only himself on the chances of that happening here.  His model is a non starter if all they are really doing is producing and cashing in to pay the bills.

It will go the opposite way to the scenario he is promoting.

They were implementing the plan, but the owners (and the CEO, the shadow man) have repeatedly cut costs over the last 18+ months.

I'm amazed Broughton is still here to be honest - he must have his CV out around the football world looking for a lifeline from this circus.

Only seen the highlights, seems we were lucky to come away with a point today.

Happy to take the point on the road, if we can follow it up with three points at home in a few weeks.

Luck had nothing to do with it - we were good value for our point and could easily have had all 3.

The movement up top is poor to say the least. Gallagher needs to learn the art of running in behind. He makes these lung busting runs..but you’d need a De Bruyne / Messi hybrid to find him regularly. It’s such a wasted effort

I always think that about Gallagher. You see him making these runs and then throwing his arms up in disgust because the ball didn't come. It would be a 'world cup' ball to hit him in stride - I don't know why he thinks his teammates have that in their locker.
