  1. Freak start to the season for PNE when they ended up at the top, apart from that they’ve looked shite whenever I’ve seen them… we still couldn’t beat them like.
  2. With their hovel only having 19k home seats, there is a scarcity factor when in all likelihood they will either be a Premier League club or fighting for the Championship title. You best get a ST or you may miss out. Here there is absolute no pressing need to buy one at big prices for another season going nowhere in a huge ground.
  3. No Jim’s quite right to point it out - it is all down to upbringing, my dad instilled in me local pride, the importance of heritage and passing down the baton between generations when supporting your local club, indeed it is what ‘the club’ is - and to have nothing but contempt for the local glory hunting Liverpool and Man Utd ‘fans’ and for them to ‘win’ as little as possible. Thank you dad.
  4. ‘Strange upbringing’ 😅 I have what connection to Man Utd or Liverpool? I’m a Blackburn Rovers fan, in reality I couldn’t care less about the PL, who’s in it, who wins it - but do I want the red shirted armchair fans of east Lancs getting any reflected glory whilst they take the piss out of ‘shit’ Rovers, their local club? No chance. Up the Gooners.
  5. The 94/95 regulars are legends to me. If they aren’t yours rigger, then fair enough!
  6. Ahh, yes, he got injured in the March… then our form started to drop off - coincidence, I think not!
  7. Pretty much ever present in a title winning side, yep he can have legendary status for me.
  8. I’d have a London team to win the title over Man Utd or Liverpool any day. As little reflected glory for their hordes of plastic ‘fans’ around here as possible please.
  9. Because it’s the same elite teams year after year getting richer and richer, so of course a Legia Warsaw can’t compete and offer the same level of entertainment, a super league in all but name.
  10. I imagine the broadcasters were very much in favour of replays as you could get 4/5 million watching one at prime time. Obviously they waited until the new cup TV deal had been signed.
  11. Definitely do; takeaway choices, eat out choices, tv subscriptions, soft drink choices, butchers, the cut down on the booze. You need a ‘diary of a season’, like Big Al’s in ‘95.
  12. This is Swag’s no risk, lowest common denominator approach to hitting targets, he cares little for the longer term health of the fanbase as why would he as a non-fan, hired hand in his late 60s? The long term health of Swag’s finances only matters at this stage of his career. Another CEO may have a totally different view in how to hit said targets. So until he fecks off I’ve stopped even thinking about how we could get out of this commercial rut. A club in suspended animation on and off the pitch.
  13. I do feel I get a real insight into the life of the Chadster on these threads.
  14. Did make me laugh when they also said the winter break has been scrapped and the season opener moved a week later instead to aid rest… yeah like they won’t be using that extra week in August go fly to Sydney/Shanghai/Seoul instead 🤦‍♂️
  15. Take it they’ll be asking for the second leg of CL knock out ties to be removed too?
  16. To be fair to the Chadster, value is in the eye of the beholder, if he think he has his money’s worth, then fair enough. Indeed the only reason Sky can pay out their billions is because millions of others think the same.
  17. It certainly has the ‘best’ profile and that’s all that matters these days - think of the social media impressions!
  18. *Sky have invested in increased player and agent incomes for the long term.
  19. Like the sound of this, on the record: We have a commitment that we can operate normally in the summer. We have had conversations on what that might look like in terms of shaping the budget and transfer funds. "My recommendations to the board are that we will have a significant influx of money. It does not all hit in one transaction with Adam Wharton and the David Raya sell-on, but transfers do not go out in one hit either. "My recommendation is to invest in four areas - transfer fees, wages to be competitive, the Academy and infrastructure and then money put aside for the season in case we need that for whatever reason. Do not spend it all in one hit, you never know how you might go into January. "The indication is that yes, we will have money to spend”. But then the politician comes out with the qualifying statement… “But I have been on record before and said last summer we had clarity on the budget and that had to change for reasons out of our hands.”
  20. Nobody thinks we have impressive crowds, but we also know there are mitigating factors. All those other clubs could give more tickets in their existing away areas - they choose not to.
  21. End of the day we don’t know how the season would’ve panned out under JDT but the players had downed tools and the form had fallen off a cliff, so even as a big JDT fan I’ve no qualms in saying we’d still be in big trouble - yet we do go down, JE had to take a big part of the blame he’s had plenty of time and a points buffer throughout. (Obviously neither are the real culprits)..
