  1. ‘Typical Rovers fans’, ‘must be the worst set of fans anywhere’, ‘so negative here’ is the refrain on social media.

Nope, it’s the same everywhere, indeed I’d say our match goers are pretty bloody positive considering the complete garbage we’ve had to sit through for a decade.

Thinking about season tickets for next season and the tough sell to the fans that 2024/25 will bring (no matter which division) got me thinking about Rovers' poor home record this campaign.

I also felt as though we've not scored too many at the Blackburn End this season, so looked into it further and we've scored 13 goals in front of our end! And only four Blackburn End goals in the 10 home games in 2024.

Rovers (League) Goals in front of the Blackburn End in 2023/24

    1. 19/8/23 - Hull City - Gallagher goal to give Rovers the lead (lost 1-2)

    2. 21/10/23 - Cardiff City - Rankin-Costello goal to give Rovers the lead (won 1-0)

    3. 10/11/23 - Preston North End - Szmodics equalizer (lost 1-2)

    4,5,6,7. 29/11/23 - Birmingham - Szmodics double, Hill and Leonard (won 4-2)

    8. 12/12/23 - Bristol City - Scott Wharton header to give Rovers two goal lead (won 2-1)

    9. 23/12/23 - Watford - Adam Wharton goal to give Rovers the lead (lost 1-2)

    10. 1/1/24 - Rotherham - Szmodics goal to give Rovers the lead (drew 2-2)

    11. 3/2/24 - QPR - Gallagher goal to make it 1-2 (lost 1-2)

    12. 24/2/24 - Norwich - Hyam goal to equalise (drew 1-1)

    13. 5/3/24 - Millwall - Szmodics goal to equalise (drew 1-1)

Largely because we are usually terrible after a promising first twenty minutes or so (in front of the Darwen End usually) and cannot get back into games after going a goal down.

    Weak, weak, weak.

When was that, i don't really remember it? I remember the odd game later in the walker trust years where they'd open the darwen end lower tier to rovers fans when they weren't expecting many away fans. Personally didn't like it, just felt wrong to me sitting in what I'd always known as the away end.

The Darwen End had home fans in it every game pretty much (unless moved for Liverpool/Man Utd) for twenty years from 95/96 until c2015.

  4. With their hovel only having 19k home seats, there is a scarcity factor when in all likelihood they will either be a Premier League club or fighting for the Championship title. You best get a ST or you may miss out.

Here there is absolute no pressing need to buy one at big prices for another season going nowhere in a huge ground.

  5. No Jim’s quite right to point it out - it is all down to upbringing, my dad instilled in me local pride, the importance of heritage and passing down the baton between generations when supporting your local club, indeed it is what ‘the club’ is - and to have nothing but contempt for the local glory hunting Liverpool and Man Utd ‘fans’ and for them to ‘win’ as little as possible.

    Thank you dad.

  6. ‘Strange upbringing’ 😅

I have what connection to Man Utd or Liverpool? I’m a Blackburn Rovers fan, in reality I couldn’t care less about the PL, who’s in it, who wins it - but do I want the red shirted armchair fans of east Lancs getting any reflected glory whilst they take the piss out of ‘shit’ Rovers, their local club? No chance.

    Up the Gooners.
