I, as you know, go to Sale Sharks matches. I was there yesterday when they qualified for the Premiership final. Two of the owners, Simon and Michelle, walked in with the players from the team coach, and at the end of the match Simon, as he usually does, went round the pitch, shaking hands with fans, thanking them for their support. The team is growing; crowds are increasing. Because of the disappearance of Worcester and Wasps, meaning we didn't get full value for our season tickets, we didn't pay for yesterday's match. This is the kind of ownership Rovers need. Someone who gets it and cares as much as any fan.

I'm sure i heard a commentator at one point saying Blackburn are third and Sunderland are 3 off the play off spots yet there seems a lack of intent, or words to that effect.
Perfectly sums up both managers though because Sunderland deserved nothing more than a point either.
Agreed. Sunderland were nothing special but we don't seem to be able to put games away when we have pressure.

This was the first time I've watched Rovers live in a year and nothing has really changed. We lack intent, penetration, power, pace. Always looking for sideways passes. Never looking to move the ball forward first time. I had a lovely Christmas spoilt by 2 bookending sporting performances, as Sale Sharks lost at Newcastle too.

I've just watched Lorient v Clermont Ferrand in Ligue 1. Tickets cost €8 each. Lorient's last match a fortnight ago was cancelled because a combination of the Interceltique festival and the continuing drought here in Brittany made it unplayable so a new pitch was laid and it was a good surface. That's how to do your job, Mr Waggott. Affordable tickets for a poor town.

In all seriousness, does anyone really think it isn't a coup for Rovers to get JDT at the helm? Of course it bloody well is, he had job offers that he was considering from ECL clubs and no matter which teams they were, they offered top class football and clearly plenty of finance.
I would like anyone on here to try and offer an explanation how and why the job at Ewood wouldn't be appealing to him and why he chose Rovers over the ECL clubs?
He stated himself, the project found him and that he had other options but took the job that in itself is self explanatory.
Whether it be Waggot, Cheston or whoever, the club sold itself to JDT and his staff and that is all that really matters.
The job you need usually finds you. For JDT I think this is the job he needs now. Get us over the finishing line and into the PL despite ours still being a poorly run club and he'll be able to take his pick of good jobs

All is well thanks. Just needed time away from here as I got more and more disillusioned with results and performances

I'm paying £224 for my Sale Sharks season ticket plus £50 for my Clitheroe season ticket. That's £274 for far more games than a Rovers season ticket would give me. Is it any wonder lots of people are getting more choosy about how they spend their cash and only attending matches at Ewood as and when they choose?

Nothing, I have no rights here. I’m not a resident of Blackburn, or even England. I’m just a fan, and a latecomer, at that.
It’s simply the only Blackburn Rovers we have. I would hate to see the club relegated to history.
Sad stuff, but it could happen. You’re right, nothing gives me the right to criticize, I’m just an old, retired guy living in Texas. If fans don’t go, the club won’t make it. Championship level money by itself cannot sustain it. Venky’s won’t be sorry, they will still be billionaires. the fans & the city of Blackburn would be the ones to suffer.
As you correctly stated earlier Blackburn is a town, not a city

I thought it was great to hear Bairstow refusing to be drawn into the Root Era was a disaster/ Stokes Era is wonderful rhetoric that the commentators were trying to push. Root had it very hard as captain with all the Covid bubbles and so on and Bairstow rightly acknowledged this

Have they been having a work event?

I have threatened to lose it conveniently when I go to visit. However, he'll soon grow out of it, and he's a very bright lad so his own common sense will kick in soon. I'll buy him a Rovers one in a bigger size for his birthday

The club can go for it, why not. But multi match bundles offered mid season don’t work here, never have. Which makes sense, as if you wanted to tie yourself down as a floating fan to multi games including night matches, you’d have bought a full or half ST by now.
Many of said fans ‘pick their games’, I.e a Saturday afternoon they fancy. So, for me, I’d be doing what we did in 2001, target a couple of matches and price it as a £10 a ticket in all areas, Operation Fill Ewood.
I wouldn't buy a multi match ticket. Too much else going on . But a cheap match ticket for a specific match would be tempting. My daughter would probably bring our grandson too which would be great because he's been spotted wearing a Burnley shirt and that can't be right

I always think of them in the old 4th division. That's where they were when I was a kid and used to listen to the results on tv

There seem to be a lot of people out there who are frustrated with the referee and his decisions are attempting to reduce the blame or importance of those because Rovers had a poor night.
I can't agree with that.
Goals change games.
If the Brereton penalty is given and scored everything can change including the sides performances. This is how promotion winning sides grind out results when not playing well so it really is unacceptable from the officials and it has to stop. I wish Mowbray would kick up more of a stink about it because otherwise, like the Boxing Day debacle, it gets swept under the carpet and on the show goes.
Mowbray admitted that he sent them out second half to get an early goal and that was obvious, but once Hull got through that first 5-10 minutes they took control again.
If we go in at half time level or even ahead after the penalty Hull have to approach it differently and we are not under the same urgency to get a quick equaliser.
Those who shrug their shoulders at the referee and say it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things because we were poor miss the point- a major decision (probably a red card) at that stage in the game changes everything in our favour.
To not get either and then finish the night 4 nil up on bookings absolutely stinks but I'm used to such things now.
Also results are about confidence and poor refereeing sucks confidence out of you. Players start to try too hard or misplace easy passes. They lose just a tiny bit of effectiveness, willingness to go into tackles etc if they feel nothing will go their way. The opposition acquire confidence with every dodgy decision they get. Hull must have felt last night they could have sneaked an extra player on and the ref wouldn't have noticed and they played like they had that extra player. None of that excuses the fact that we were poor last night but it compounds it. When you feel you genuinely are playing 12 men, or even 14 since the assistants weren't actually assisting the ref in doing his job properly, it's hard to lift your game

Well, there is but that's only because I loathe City as a club even more than Spurs.

On phone or tablet press on the e and hold it till the options come up and slide to the one you want é. On PC you usually have to have number lock on, hold down alt key and type 130 I think it is. The other accents are there too I think è is alt 138 but it's a long time since, as a French teacher, I used them regularly and I don't remember the numbers as well as I used to.
Off topic too but why are they still playing that awful version of Wild Rover pre and post match? Build up music is all strong and then this jolly little ditty comes on. I havent been to Ewood in quite a while and did think someone would have ditched it in my absence

Do you think I should avoid going to Ewood. Last time I went we got knocked out of the league Cup. Today we looked somewhat aimless, we got an appalling ref who helped neither side and seemed clueless, failed to capitalise on early pressure and ended up getting a 0-0. Im clearly a jinx

I've looked for a thread to post this but can't find it so I'll put it here with apologies. Clitheroe had 1679 on yesterday! Normal crowd is round 500. Great to feel Shawbridge rock.

I reached my tipping point many years ago and can only admire those who've stuck with it this long. I was a regular poster on here and tried to be fair to managers and players, even the ones I disliked intensely. However, when the first wave of protests, which I attended and took part in, had no effect. I marched with Blackpool fans. I've been back odd times since but largely I'd rather not be there. I couldn't go and support another EFL club, so get my football kicks watching Clitheroe. Otherwise, we simply switched sports and began watching Sale Sharks. I'd not support another league club and would love a reason to come back to Rovers on a more regular basis but this week's fiasco has confirmed even more for me that I personally was right to more or less walk away, for my own peace of mind.
