  1. Snipes as a baddy and great at it. Love the overtones of dystopia throughout.
  2. I like this quote about it by David Edwards "Frankly, if this makes you laugh even once, I recommend seeking medical advice." and this by Chris Prince "Any film that causes you to reappraise the awfulness of Couples Retreat has to be pretty bad."
  3. It is a decent read, written in a scatter format that makes it hard to scan. Jumps around like nothing I have read before. It is like a cross strain of Conrad and Pynchon with a mix of Palahniuk. Very in depth with the minds of the characters and almost has a stream of conscious prose. If you are in the habit of chucking books across the room – avoid this one. Only bloody Delillo has had me making more notes on a novel before. For example - "Crows are smarter and bigger and noisier and they commune. They take over, they will drive out all the others, this is serious, I will have to watch them closely."
  4. Just finished reading What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt, a pretty decent read. Book of three parts it seems, involving art, divorce, and a @#/? of a child. Mixes a thriller with a psychological dissection of the mentally ill. Follows a man and his artist friend through their lives and darkest moments. If anyone is interested it is on the 1001 books you need to read before you die list, and is worth a go. On a trivia note Hustvedt is married to Paul Auster, another great author. Colin I cannot recommend hard enough that you try and give this another go. The language becomes second nature to the reader after awhile and the book itself is far, far deeper than the movie. Try it again, pretty please.
  5. Inglorious @#/?s was a good movie, nice to see a good WW2 movie again. Has a glass of milk ever been so ominous? Tarantino adds more fuel to the fire about his foot fetish. About the hats – it is only the Navy and Marines who have to remove their covers when going indoors and also cannot salute when indoors.
  6. Did you write the screenplay by any chance Abbey?
  7. You mean this is something that you have willingly watched more than once? I only ask as your post has the whiff of present tense.
  8. I have yet to watch a movie containing that waste of skin in which either, I did not wish him dead, or thought a half empty bottle of ketchup would have been more amusing.
  9. Any movie involving Jack Black, the later is best watched in five minute increments to allow vomiting and general nausea. Same holds true for most movies that are termed “Romantic Comedy” which is a subtle way of saying: This is not funny at all and is only stated as such so males will agree to take females - which they wish to mate with - to see them in the first place.
  10. Why are you here?

  11. For anyone that is interested in Stephen Kings The Dark Tower Series being made into a movie there is actually quite a bit of movement towards this happening. The first thing to happened was that J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof bought the rights to the series for 19 million dollars and supposedly would begin production after Lost was wound up. After a couple of years looking at the monumental scale of the project they got scared and pulled out. Ron Howard, with the help of Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman, are now, supposedly, going to produce a movie to be released in theaters which will spin off into a T.V. show. Rumor has it that the T.V. show will run around the story of The Drawing of the Three and if popular The Wastelands would return for the big screen. Personally I could see Wizard and Glass being a good T.V. show, nice plot build up and interesting actions sequences. Potentially good news, as I feel that under Howards direction the project may just be doable. But who the hell could they get to play Roland? Crowe may do the job, but you cannot see him doing a T.V. show. In other news on this front - King is set to write, this summer, a Dark Tower prequel/sequel which will take place in between Wizard and Glass and The Wolves of the Calla Under the title of The Wind Through the Keyhole this full length book with focus on the lesser characters and tie in some other events from other works.
  12. I thought the movie was pretty turgid. I sat there and kept thinking that it was the end – only to be disappointed that it wasn’t. The movie needed Sir Alan to reprise his role as the Sherriff of Nottingham. Didn’t quite know what to make of the whole thing, as I just sat there wanting to be impressed, but felt deflated and slightly robbed when I left. Having been in one of the modern versions of those LC’s I do feel for the French coming across the channel stuck in one like that. I could not however, get over the fact that they traveled that distance in those flat bottomed boats and arrived at all. The arrows flying into the water ala Saving Private Ryan also amused me.
  13. Well that looks much better than the Aliens Vs Predator paff that they have been making. "Over there... through those trees... I... see... you..." has to be the best line.
  14. Any zombie movie fans have to watch the treat from Norway called 'Dead Snow' - my half assed review. What is more scary than zombies? Nazi Zombies. What is scarier than that? The snow hats that are on show in this movie. Five friends plan to meet another friend in a secluded log cabin in the Norwegian wilderness. Fun and frolics ensue and even a game of Twister. Little do the friends know but the countryside is littered with dead German soldiers. Headed by a very nasty looking S.S. Colonel the soldiers lay siege to the friends in a frenzy of gore and brains. Dead Snow is a zombie movie that should be lauded up there among the best. Its mix of humor and fantastic gore effect are a joy to behold. It has a “Scream” like quality with its subtle fun poking at other zombie movies, and zombie mythology as a whole. Watch this movie and enjoy its sheer zaniness and its creative zombie kills. Gore Meter 5/5 Scare Meter 2/5
  15. I agree. "Face Off" and "Broken Arrow" reinvented that man.
  16. Poetic justice. I could go so far as to say divine retribution. "He who sitith on ass and eatith without ending shall have difficulty with paperwork." What the frig is up with this though? Chalk this up to another Rovers Vs World situation.
  17. The worst gore laced horror flick has never had my stomach churn as that... mov... (cant even give it the name) did. Surely has to be up there as worst mov… of all time.
  18. Puppies always prance around and look good when someone is looking through the shop window.
  19. Hughesy you should give Public Enemies a go. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10009526-public_enemies/ I feel that it got a bit of a bad rap for some reason. Depp did very well (as always) in my opinion. "Fear and Trembling" is a very cool film to watch with the wife or girlfriend. I kind of stumbled across it as I had read the book and thought the movie was very well done. It is teh story of a Belgian woman who works for a mega company in Japan. It is hilarious and well worth a go.
