Did I say anything of the sort though? No. I absolutely didn't. I was even clear in the post you quoted that I'm not crazy about signing them. I simply pointed out, correctly, that your statement that Vale and Burns have done as much as Dykes and Hirst is simply untrue.

Burns has scored 2 goals in 15 League Two games, that's the full extent of his professional experience. Vale has 151 minutes in the Championship, with no goals or assists, and 44 minutes in League One, with no goals or assists, and 4 cup appearances with 2 assists.

Dykes has 22 goals in 79 appearances in the Championship. Hirst has a poor Championship record (mostly off the bench) but scored 13 in 40 in League One last season. Like I said, I'm not sold on getting either, but to say Burns and Vale have done as much as them is false.

My point I was trying to make, is that if that is sort of strikers we are after, then why not hold those funds, and move it to an area where we maybe need more bodies in if BBD stays.

The squad is lacking in depth quality, and should we lose BBD, is Dykes and/or Hirst the type of quality worthy of replacing him? We just seem to struggle with having a good scouting system in place.

I'm not mad on Dykes or Hirst, but that statement simply isn't true at all.

What have they done, that screams sign them up immediately? Is that the calibre of players you want us to replace BBD with? I see we are still happy with mediocrity. At least then we can know that the youngsters are being given the opportunities, instead of players like that

  3. I see a few jumped on my Vale and Burns post.

So you want to spend money on Dykes/Hirst, who has done pretty much as much as Vale and Burns, then you might as well give 2 of our own youngsters that opportunity.

Cant just waste money, just because your obsession with us having to sign a player, any player. Then we are headed into dangerous territory, we don't want to find ourselves in again.

Same people who jumped at my post, are probably the same people, who wanted us to get rid of Scott Wharton. If those are the calibre players you view ahead of our own, then blimey, get help

  4. Get this end of transfer window wrong, and I can see us getting relegated, or at least fighting for our lives..

We need to bring in Hyam, and try and get one or 2 of Caulker, Van Hecke or Sepp as well..

Lose Brereton, then imo, we need to go small, somebody quick footed, who knows how to find the back of the net. Gallagher can still provide that target man option, but we really need a striker who can run at defenders..

Hirst no thankyou, he's a league 1 player at best

If we are now back in front in the race for van hecke, does that mean no caulker? Because it won't be van hecke, caulker and hyam,  unless we now know Phillips is going and Carter out on loan

If we did get van hecke and hyam we would have one of the best defences in the league

Yes, but can't score for toffee

I can see the logic there. However, the likelihood of us signing 2 permanent CBs seems unrealistic to me.   Especially 2 who will cost upwards of £6 million.  We have holes all over the squad.  I would guess that if Hyatt does sign, he will be the only permanent deal at centre back.  Out of the options mentioned to date, that would be the poorest solution in my opinion.

If the fee for Hyatt was a lot lower, I'd be more comfortable with it.  Feels like a Paul Downing option.

    Who is Hyatt?

Because doubts are raised as to a potential signing of a Coventry signing as clearly 4th or 5th choice (Anel, Davies, Van Hecke, Van Den Berg) signing, you have come to the above conclusion?

    Whoa calm down.

    Anel didn't want us

    Ben Davies didn't want us

Van Hecke was by us, and we don't know what Brighton wants to do with him.

SVDB would probably have been here, but for Liverpool's defensive issues

Right now the club can't wait on Brighton or Liverpool, because time is running out here. We need to bring in players, and the longer we wait, the worse it becomes for us..
