dunno Jord but taking a closer look whoever filled it in they have spelt Neill wrong preferring the spellin 'Neil' and struggled to spell McEveley judging by the correction.

its really not that important who gets what squad number, people. I think everyone is just getting a bit excited for the season start.
I agree with you on that one, especially when we don't know what our squad will even look like come the end of August (though I know it will probably be exactly the same). The 11 players who will start the game against WBA will not be decided by the numbers on their backs.
Even if they were (which they wont be), it will have no/very little bearing on the team/season ahead, look at the starting X1 against Wolves last season compared to the side that faced sorry brum (fulham was season before I still cant get used to calling it last season, doh!):
Friedel..................................Enckleman
Gresko..................................Gray
Taylor....................................Short
Amoruso...............................Johansson
Neill......................................Reid
Thompson............................Douglas
Flitcroft.................................Andreson
Tugay..................................Tugay
Emerton...............................Flitcroft
Yorke....................................Stead
Jansen..................................Cole
Only Flitcroft and Tugay retained their places due to injury, loss of form, new signings, players leaving etc.... the team against West Brom will not dictate our season let alone squad numbers, however a central midfielder at number 5 still looks silly, (mind you Tugay did ok at #3)

for all the folks questioning Dickov as #10, what number did he wear last year with leicester? I honestly don't know, but am curious.

Just to add to this:
Last Season:
Gally: Pld: 12+(14) Gls: 3
Stead: Pld: 13+(0) Gls: 6
Dickov: Pld: 28+(7) Gls: 11
Jansen: Pld: 11+(10) Gls: 3
Yorke: Pld: 17+(10) Gls: 6
Cole: Pld: 29+(8) Gls: 11
Games per goals:
Stead 2.2
Dickov 3.2
Cole 3.4
Yorke 4.5
Jansen 7
Gally 8.7
Strikers available over summer/ who we've been linked with:
Ferdinand: 21 + (10) Gls: 13 GPG = 2.4
Hasselbaink: 32 + (12) Gls: 18 GPG = 2.4
Kliuvert: 19 + (13) Gls: 13 GPG = 2.5
Viduka: 31 Gls: 12 GPG = 2.6
Kanoute: 22 + (9) Gls: 12 GPG = 2.6
Bent: 30 + (6) Gls: 10 GPG = 3.6
Crouch: 21 + (12) Gls: 8 GPG = 4.1
Fowler: 33 + (8) Gls: 10 GPG = 4.1
Bridges: 3 + (18) Gls: 5 GPG = 4.2
Heskey: 37 + (14) Gls: 12 GPG = 4.3
Radzinski: 30 + (8) Gls: 8 GPG = 4.75
C.Cole: 11 + (14) Gls: 5 GPG = 5

The squad numbers are very wierd indeed, flitty at 5?? why move amo if matteo is not having it? fergy has 16 because he likes the number 6, why not move short to 5 if its free? then why move gally down? jansen could have had 12 if your moving him.
Emerton is meant to want the number 23 so he gets 7.
De Pedro wants the number 10, so he gets 11.
and Yorke loves his number 19, so we move him to 15.
Me thinks Souey is saying, numbers mean nothing, go and earn your SHIRT!

Doesn't Ferguson have a thing for number 4? I'm sure he wanted the number when he signed for us but had to make do with the next available number with a 4 in it.
No, he has a thing for the number 6. Its the number he wears for Scotland and wore for Rangers. I think he took 24 because it added up to 6.
A bit like Dunny has a thing for the number 8, thats why he took up 16 at birmingham isnt it? eh Dunny? Anyone got the date for when they are released?
I wouldn't expect too many changes, just filling in of the gaps, with a few minor changes I would of thought, maybe something like this:
1. Friedel
2. Neill
3. Gray
4. Short
5. Amoruso
6. Ferguson
7. Flitcroft
8. Tugay
9. Dickov
10. Jansen
11. De Pedro
12. Reid
13. Enckleman
14. Stead
15. Emerton
16. Matteo
17. Gallagher
18. McEveley
19. Douglas
20. Thompson
21. Gresko

Twist, this guy has lost it!

Andy Cole was a top class player, at Rovers he was still quality, his influence in keeping us up and winning us the worthington cup was shadowed only by jansen and friedel, we will miss him enormously and the pressure this is placing on a striker who has shown alot of promise but has only played a handful of premiership games, a striker that has only broken into double figures for goal in the premier league once, a striker who has an awful lot to learn before he can be considered a starter and one who was once one of england's brightest young talents and is now not even close to premiership standard. This is crazy if we do not buy someone who will guarentee goals and has experience up front it is criminal. Not to mention what Stead and Gally could have learnt of a top performer like Cole, oh well local derbies next season anyone.

Just what we need a successful asian player, that if anything will tap into the asian communites of blackburn and surrounding areas and draw in much needed support and funds!!
-
Nah he's too old for soui and a bit unfit aswell!!!
whens that stopped Graham?
what, george graham is our new manager, that one slipped by quietly!!

well I have to wonder if Souness has been clever (in his own mind at least) in all this. Andy Cole would be very easy to wind up I imagine, so for Souness to fall out with him thus causing Cole to leave then Yorke probably following, frees up alot of money, I think Souey may have done this deliberatly. If this is the case, well he knows the finances better than me so if we have to get rid then we have to however, from a purely football side of things Cole is a fantastic player and one we will miss incredibly, it is also putting alot of pressure on Dickov who has only really had 1 good goalscoring season in the premiership fortunatly it was his last; on Stead who may or may not do as well as last season; Gally who has not scored enough goals to warrant being considered a regular yet and Jansen who well we all know about him.

Got a bit miserable reading this thread this afternoon - some good points but not much optimism about. I agree about the "dangerous spiral" though - it should have been pulled down years ago - it's only a matter of time until someone ends up falling off and into St Johns Tavern.
Had an idea. This season Rovers will have the DeanoCard in operation as a season ticket for the first time. No longer will there be the need to acquire a book full of tickets. I don't know if other clubs do this already but will a Season Ticket be available to buy throughout the entire season?
Say we start really well (won't be easy looking at the fixtures) de Pedro plays like a world beater, Matteo is solid as a rock and Stead continues where he left off. We get off to a flyer. Will those fans who decided not to renew then be able to be a S.T. for the remaining games? There's no admin involved as it's all done on those computer things now. The price would of course reduce on a game by game basis. So you could but a ST for the BBE after missing (or buying normal tickets for) the first two games for say (£420(?)/19*17) £375.78.
Just an idea, as I've already said other clubs may well already this - so it might not be original, but if this facility was there then Rovers may well get some more ST holders joining throughout the season (Birthday Presents / Early Christmas present - who knows?). Which is of course what the club wants and needs - money up front.
Just an idea. My coats ready if required.
only problem I could forsee would be when you get the lesser teams earlier on so people obting to miss those games then getting a season ticket from the first big game.

what everyone does have to remember is that the irony in all this is that the editor of the sun at the time this all went to print is now the editor of the mirror which is read regularly by scousers, surely he's more to blame!

was listening to the legends on century for 10 mins tonight, they said the dirty tactics have already started with england no longer getting room service and alarms going off this morning!!
-
we have as good a chance as anyone, we knew that much already, that as long as our top players perform we have a chance, as yet, neither beckham nor owen two of our so called world class players have performed to their standards and we're still in the quarters, if them two can turn it on, then why not all the way!
-
If Rovers are true in saying that he is such a good talent then why don't we just fork out the £2.5m! we will surely get our money back!
Paul Dickov- £110k
Gamst Pedersen (good on champ btw)- £2.5m
Domonic Matteo- £500k???
Another midfielder- £1-2m
Thats a total of £6m
With a budget of £4m + money from sales we can afford to spend £2.5m can't we??
sales of what exactly? i dont see anyone leaving ewood for £500,000 let alone £2million.

3: Mckinlay, played right through to the end of the season when he was told he needed an operation in NOVEMBER, insisted he helped us try to survive. This cost him the next 18months of his career and he has never been the same since.
2: Garner, sooooo many goals, Rovers through and through.
1: Hendry, played through injuries so many times, always gave 100%, never gave up, a magnificant example for anyone to follow.
