  1. Looking to extend Conway’s deal? Meanwhile Payne is told that he would only be a sub and if that isn’t good enough, find another club? Not really the noises I wanted to be hearing.
  2. Fair play. That stand needs a revamp sooner rather than later. Removing those bloody posts for starters.
  3. You’ve got my vote! Although I think you’d agree I’m not usually inhibited. You are also right about people being precious about “their” seat but in reality all the seats belong to the club and if they want to move you they can. Unless you decide not to attend. It just seems such an obvious place for singing, standing, unreserved seats. The won’t be in anyone’s way, they are behind the goal and mates can all congregate together. The alternative would be down at the front but as they do seem to want to stand it would require at least two rows behind them to be empty. The club have made a rod for their own back with the DE unreserved option and also with cheap tickets. Taking away both is bound to be met with resistance.
  4. Some good quotes at the end of that. Nice one John.
  5. Darwen end isn’t closed, Paul. Away fans are going to be in it. It could even help with segregation. People will get used to their new seats. Can’t see the Riverside closing any time soon. It’s getting regular use by a majority and is the ‘cheap seat’ area. Lose that and it becomes a real squeeze and they will have to pay JW Upper prices. Doesn’t make economic sense. My only real beef is the loss of unreserved seating. (Like we have for away games - apparently. ). There is a market for it and it can help to grow the fanbase as bringing a mate (or kids) along is really easy.
  6. Eh? That first paragraph makes no sense. Second one. Great idea. What are YOU going to suggest to make that more likely? And it’s ‘you’re’.
  7. There is just an air about Dack that makes me think he could be easily persuaded. You could imagine him with TM on one shoulder and someone like a Harry Redknapp on the other. We need to tie him down to a new deal early on this Summer and quash any potential interest, or he is the obvious one to be sold to raise funds. You don’t win L1 player of the season twice and not interest other clubs.
  8. If you think about it, they don’t have to move. Just get there early enough to claim a seat.
  9. Bit patronising really. Waggott needs to have the courage of their convictions. If they feel that it’s the best thing for the club, financially, to minimise the DE capacity then just be honest about it. Yes, it would be great to have the DE fans move to the BBE but you can’t force them to do so. The will instead move the the JWL or Riverside. It may help to get the crowd more compact and generate a better atmosphere. Don’t tell people that it is to avoid inconveniencing them for a handful of games. It’s insulting and breeds distrust. Personally (and it doesn’t impact me so it’s easy to say) I think that opening the DE thinned out the BBE and divided fans, and quietened the atmosphere. It will take a while to reverse that. Where they could have made a real difference to the atmosphere (and appease one group of fans whilst potentially inconveniencing another) would have been to make the back 8 rows of the BBE unreserved seating. This could have even been a precursor to a future safe standing zone.
  10. I’m not too worried about the lad himself. He’ll be buzzing. It’s his agent I’m bothered about, for one, and the Bentley effect - although I’d hope Mowbray can talk him round. What I’m really concerned about is the V factor. All it would take is for a big bid from a Championship club with parachute payments. That said, I don’t think Bowyer had anyone sold over his head and Mowbray was backed last year. Everyone has a price though.
  11. Or as slim as you contributing content rather than glib ad hominem posts.
  12. What odds Dack to leave and Payne to replace him...?
  13. No way would in for Antonsson. He started well but has faded away following injury. Wouldn’t be too bad if he was 22 (like he looks) but at 27 he should be at his peak. I just don’t see him improving. Mowbray may need to be ruthless this Summer and not be sentimental about a L1 promotion squad.
  14. How does these guys keep getting work? There is a massive lack of young talent -or young talent being given a chance in favour of the old guard.
  15. Hope it’s Charlie Brown. He’ll be available for peanuts.
  16. We’ve talked about it for years, looks like Waggot is JFDI-ing things.
  17. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16211662.Tony_Mowbray_set_to_visit_India_next_week_but_Rovers_under_no_embargo_threat/
  18. You posted appeared after Kamy’s - slighting Kamy’s reputation and anyone who listens to him. Yes, I can tell the time.
  19. So you don’t believe Kamy has been told by the club that this is genuine?
  20. If the club have told you it is genuine but haven’t provided context as mitigation The there is bound to be a fan reaction. However, we did get ourselves out of embargo before relegation so I don’t see how it can be reinstated after one miserly season in League One. In any case, if Mowbray knows about an impending embargo but is still heading to India then he must be happy to continue under those conditions or he would be considering his future. There have been no noises at all in that direction so far. Maybe it’s tempering any expectations of big spending this Summer?
  21. Why do some fans seem to feel they have the right to stand up? Is it because the away fans are doing it?
  22. They service the debt but it didn’t look as though our net spend was that much. They didn’t sell anyone Mowbray wanted to keep (or whose asking price wasn’t met) though - similar to when Bowyer was here. However, due to our fall from grace, we now need to increase squad quality rather than just keep what we have. That may be a first.
  23. Promotion will make our club even less able to wash its own face. Player increases, competitive transfer fees. Venkys already picking up £2m deficit as a L1 club. That’s just grown. It now comes down to their ambition. Do they want to see the club succeed or are they just looking to minimise losses? If it’s the latter, it’s going to be a tough old season. I can’t see what else has changed over in Pune. Have any of them developed an interest in Rovers? Is there any kudos from being in the Championship? They aren’t welcome at Ewood and I expect they know this so they can’t even share in any success with the fans. It’s all now on Mowbray selling “his dream”. If they don’t share it we are hoping that momentum will carry us away from the relegation zone but that won’t last forever. Whether they like it or not, they need PL football or they are going to have to prop us up for a while yet. Or sell.
