  1. Id love that. Possibly my favourite song. Id love to hear that belted out around Ewood every matchday.
  2. There's only one type of dried fruit. One type of dried fruit. Theres only one type if dried fruit. Sorry I misread the thread title.
  3. I heard on the radio this morning that NGog is on 35k pw, Wheater is on 25k, Eagles on 30k and Tyrone Mears is on 20k and hasnt played since we dicked them 4-1. There was something about Beckford too. I only half heard it because I was busy, but im sure they mentioned he was on 40k at Leicester and took a pay cut to go to Bolton. But you'd have to guess it wouldn't be a huge drop or he'd have sat tight. Some of those figures are very very scary.
  4. I wouldnt write Southampton off just yet Bob. There are some mind boggling things going on there at the moment. They won't do it overnight by any means, and possibly will fall short. But their aim is champions league football and they are gearing up for just that. I read an incredible piece in the Telegraph (I think) which highlighted some of there work. They are boxing very clever. Don't expect to see their conveyor belt of young talent ending any time soon. I drive past their training complex every day and its extremely impressive and seemingly always getting bigger. I appreciate they are flavour of the month but its for good reason. There some people there with big ideas. Strangely their undoing could be something which us rovers fans can relate to. The financial backing is at the mercy of the family of Markus Liebher who passed away a couple if years ago. I believe his daughter now holds the purse strings. Providing she shares her fathers dream I can see Southampton getting very close to cracking the top four in the next 5 years. Edit - i should add that i appreciate this has nothing to do with the point you were making. It just sort of popped into my simple brain. Anyway, Bolton. Um, whats to say. Its not too pretty. And happy new year one and all.
  5. Carberry didnt score quickly enough. If he had then we might have amassed enough of a lead here. 230 is probably about 50 short of whats required imo. Terrible collapse once again in the middle order and tail enders such as Bresnan and Broad who can supposedly bat a bit just gave their wickets away. I thought Bairstow did well and its a shame that partnership ended when it did. We looked as if we might have steadied the ship. Pietersen did great. He had little choice but to attack Lyon because he was running out of partners again. 2 or 3 early wickets and we might have a sniff. But I fear the stubborn Aussie tailenders might prove to be the difference. Still, at least its a contest and that in itself has made this the most entertaining test of the series.
  6. Agree jim. Why take Tremlett and Finn if they weren't to be used to their strengths. I know ita been said a thousand times, but if it worked for Johnson then why not fight fire with fire? For me test cricket has changed a great deal. The T20 influence is there to see. Batsmen are picked on the ability to make shots. Thats all well and good. But when did it become so remiss for batsmen to be picked on WHEN to make shots? We needed a stubborn few in the top order who were intent on staying put. The aussie attack was decent. But how decent would it have been after a session or two without success? We saw when Bell and Stokes got in how the Aussies became frustrated. Our top order gave them too much encouragement and it got their tails up. Mitchell Johnson is a head case. Had we shown some resilience he would have wilted. We shot ourselves in the foot and no mistake.
  7. Can't argue with that, But it helps the tail enders when they know they have something to scrap for. If 1-6 have done their job then the other 5 can look to add say another 100-150 and the total begins to look impressive. But they were left with the burden of unrealistic hope every innings. Bell should be in at 3 or 4 and Root moved down the order. He gets things ticking along and gives the tail end something to fight for. I heard a lot of people clamouring for Michael Carberry to be given his chance. Well I'm not sure he's done enough. He has scored better than some in this series, but its still not impressive. If you consider our batting line up with lets say Compton and Trott in the right frame of mind, it becomes a much more test friendly line up. One which can patiently build an innings and dig in when required. That is the main thing I think we lacked. For all Pietersen's flair, we needed him to lead the younger lads by example. Dig in and be hard to beat.
  8. I couldn't give a toss who anyone supports nor the reasoning behind it. All I know is the country I support let me down very badly. But the warning signs were there. How many times did our batting line up bail out the bowlers and visa - versa? They rarely performed together in the same test. It just so happened neither turned up this time around. That said, the Aussies aren't a bad side. Their bowling attack is very nicely balanced. Siddle and Lyon are adept at keeping it tight and suffocating a batsman, Johnson roughs them up and does the unexpected and Harris is a class act. I'm not entirely convinced I fancy their batting line up on foreign soil. But our bowlers just didn't put them under enough sustained pressure.
