  1. Do we ever sign what we need ? This is just another 'look Madame i can turn him into something worth millions' type. Meanwhile the top 6 moves even further out of view.
  2. So Dozzelll is one these fabled job saving signings Mowbray has lined up ? Sounds worth a punt but prepare to be underwhelmed when this fella gets hold of him. Ten min cameos for the next 2 years whilst he learns how to play the Mowbray way.
  3. Look at the sheer turnover of players in and out, on and off and rotated though. Yes some players have to shoulder some of the blame but when the manager doesn't it's no wonder they don't seem that bothered. It all stems from him he either can't motivate them so has given up trying and just tries to keep them on side. Or they are buying into it and following his instructions to the letter, either way the buck stops with him. Said it for 2 years now but for where we want to go the whole mentality is wrong, not so much easy street as a collective we aren't good enough but it doesn't matter st. The whole way he operates though goes right against any form of successful consistency developing or any comfortable partnerships on the pitch.
  4. This. If you are so hell bent on developing as is the line he keeps trotting out then why not take the opportunities these dead rubbers present ? They could be forgiven then for saying the result doesn't matter too much. The last 18 months have been treated like one big experiment on the pitch anyway. Why not get right down to the bones of it for once. Should be an entire team of youth in their correct positions wherever possible, no excuses. However it'll be the same old approach putting old pros, favs and loanees first.
  5. A stroll in the park as Mowbray lets the boys off the leash again and another 50 changes makes no difference. They actually look like they are enjoying themselves now and why wouldn't they. Doddle this BRFC number. Rovers 4 Millers 1
  6. Eddie Howe would be absolutely perfect for Rovers at this juncture. He likes the ball on the deck but moved around at a higher tempo. Pass and move rather than pass then pass back. Likes young players and should have some decent connections. Perfect foil for what Mowbray has put in place right now. Sadly even if they'd stump up the money he doesn't like it up north so never a goer. Pullis and the like would certainly have the nous to have us punching higher. Just don't think this squad suits him at all. Wilder might do something with it but he'd need windows and backing to add that strength and character we badly need. As it is, Mowbrays squad, Mowbrays football and seemingly his job to walk or stay whenever he likes. As you where, roll up for the tombola midtable roadshow.
  7. I think he was preparing the ground for losing him for nothing and of course exempting himself from any blame at the same time. It was very much a cover all bases description of the situation. Touching on the player power which is partly correct. I often listen to Mowbray and wonder what the point of having a manager here actually is ? . He seems to concede everything very easily, whether it's the excuses for not winning or players leaving. One thing that does give players power is weak managers. They also never drive a team forwards and struggle to win games. I wonder what he sees himself as other than someone who thinks he's developing players ? Because he's certainly no leader players sniff weakness out at a thousand paces. He reeks of it.
  8. Hate to say but Burnley have the mentality that is missing here. They struggle like mad at times in the Prem, a tiny club out of their depth. But...they have Dyche a manager with a rank style of football but who knows how to rinse every drop out of what he has. Every season at this time of year they start pulling out the results that gives them another season in the land of milk and honey. Our lot with that manager can't even find the mental strength to even visit the top 6 never mind stay in contention with it. Every season it happens at Burnley and they hit their target. Every season it happens here after we've missed ours. It's all wrong but Shaun Dyche IS Burnley FC but Blackburn Rovers are Tony Mowbray. Too casual by too far.
  9. It's poor that its come to this and he could end up just winding his contract down. Then side stepping somewhere for nothing and doubling his pay as a result. They need to make their minds up pronto, stick a contract in front of him with a 'trigger fee' and get him to sign it. Too much sense in that and it should have been done by now but i think they haven't the foggiest how much he's worth. No bids seem to have come in so although the club itself, if not the owners, needs to sell they seem terrified of putting a price on him. Making a horlicks of it as usual, what is the point of this 300k a year CEO at all ? As for Mowbray, on this subject it is probably the most sense he's talked in 6 months. On anything in fact !
  10. A lot of teams just seem to switch off this time of year, job done. Disgraceful really but always been the case i suppose. It's amazing though how we just suddenly seem to switch on. There's no motivation here for promotion or top 6 it's like they all just accept it. Then suddenly it's out of sight, there's no pressure, hols to look forward to and moves / contracts to be earned. some of them ought to be ashamed of themselves and i don't just mean on the pitch.
  11. 'Seems he's saved his job for now with a few good wins plus Vs are busy with the pandemic in India' It's all to easy to go one way or the other based on assumption. Nixon makes a living doing that. In reality it's probably not there to lose only to walk away from, i'm sure some stuff gets drip fed out just to pacify fans and press. Get them to back off a bit whilst you get a few wins to completely spin it on its head. That's exactly what is happening now, bought a bit of time then created another illusion of turning it all around. He'll be in full good old Blackburn Rovers big historic club, should be in the Prem, overdrive again soon. Owners want us back there and i want to deliver it blah blah.
  12. I made my prediction a while back, he'll walk at some point next season if the poor form continues and the crowd turns. That's where the smart money is but until then he'll carry on like he's gods gift to BRFC.
  13. That worries me, i actually think this Pasha guy is a Mowbray ally and well connected to certain agents himself. I always wonder just what is in it for him, is he more involved than we actually know. Maybe he recommended Mowbray and feels partly responsible or something but iv'e zero faith in any of them. Last seasons window was a good one lets be honest all the signings improved us on paper. Strongest squad TM has had plus Dack was back for a spell and the only real miss was Ayala. The fact is the manager couldn't turn HIS squad with his signings into anything remotely effective. Aside from the little purple patch before we were sussed out. Imo the possession football just meant we lost a load of games 0-1 instead of 0-2 or 3. It just papered over cracks instead of the picture he's trying to peddle that we are just a step away from turning 0-1's into 1-0's. Whoever he signs this summer he'll operate the same way he always has. Two thirds of it will be average to gash again because that's what this management set up is, regardless of squad. Only interested in players getting games and everyone being involved.
  14. This is what i was going to say, unless it is affecting them personally as a family beyond just being restricted i don't think it is in anyway a valid excuse. The wheels of all their businesses have to keep turning and will and the football club should be no different. It's offering them more excuses to just ignore it or just write cheque's for the latest set of under performers to run it. Money is still flying through the pipes and making others rich whilst the product suffers further. No excuse at all in fact being restricted should give them more time to concentrate on it and sort it out. The pandemic is affecting the suburbs of India horrendously but like everything else over there the wealthy will remain detached and probably better protected from it.
  15. Elliot is the real deal whizz kid who was worth good money at a young age because he clearly has some unique ability. Brereton just wasn't and isn't, he's just the type who showed maybe enough promise to make the step from youth ranks and carve out some kind of career. Loads around like that nothing unique about him. The only unique thing was a dozy rival manager backed by a set of clowns persuaded by some slimy agents happened to notice him. If we'd paid a couple of million it would have been a fair enough punt. The money they paid still was and is undeniably stupid.
  16. There'll be a 3rd wave here and it'll come in the 'flu' season which obviously is the main football season as well. It'll happen every year now this thing and its imported variants are here to stay. The vaccinations etc will help but flu season is flu season it's no coincidence that it's tailed off now as it did last year. Once the air is warmer. drier and clearer, once it isn't it'll be getting a grip again. It would be a foolish man to bet against a lockdown 3 of some sort by Autumn/Winter. That's before you factor in climate change policies / the Govt realizing the control this has presented them and all the conspiracies that go with it.
  17. So, his investment players start scoring when the season is virtually over. And his marquee defenders are coming defender that we've waited 2 years for turns up for 15 mins in the last game. Amazing stuff really the 'investors' must be so pleased.
  18. Yep every time we've won and he's been playing there's been a bigger report than usual in the redtop rags. Usually with a pic of him headlining it, good for the profile i suppose as it gets us a mention. Sickening really though when it's all about him and his media darling parent club.
  19. If that was available ALL season it wouldn't get more than 2 or 3 games together max, winning or not. Got to think of Corry's international career first and the midfield tombola policy close second.
  20. He'd still have to find a target man, a poacher and a couple of good centre halves. Everything is there to be built on though, just image half those additions to the squad. Coupled with organization, clarity and drive, everybody knowing their jobs ? Basically everything that is missing under Mowbray in favour of development and possession.
  21. 5 year extension incoming, he must've heard Mrs D is watching this one.
  22. Surfing season soon he doesn't want to be strapped up. Priorities.
  23. All hail dead rubber season when the manager and team look like they actually fancy having a go. If this game meant anything at all we'd be 1 nil down now, he'd be slumped in his seat. Fakers. As it is my 3-1 prediction is looking good !
  24. If you can get them onside it's one of the best jobs in the Championship. That's why even busted flushes hang on for dear life when they probably know the game is up and they could badly use a real break. Having that Academy and what it turns out available to bolster his squad gives him another advantage over similar clubs. I just keep coming back to thinkg what would the likes of Neil have done with kind of backing Mowbray has had. He managed to beat us and finish above us anyway.
  25. I particularly like the bit where Mowbray said 'iv'e had agents from players we've played against coming up to me saying so and so would like to come and work with you at Blackburn. Do you like him ? Then we see the wages and they aren't coming'. This is a very very crafty old dog at work here, basically saying i can attract players they want to work with ME but the club can't afford them. What a gigantic R sole that's along the lines of Bauer wanted 40k pwk, then he signed for PNE for about 10 !!! Anybody who still thinks this fella isn't capable of Kean/Coyle style spin in plain wrong. That's the kind of ego that gets giant flags printed of itself to send distracting messages to overseas owners via a tv screen.
