    Olivia Meets her Match

I had to laugh when Mulgrew was on. I don't know about big dressing room leader and all that because the only thing he says is 'aye' !

I don't think he's always faking injury but he's certainly ' declared' himself for a few time for NI. Obviously means a lot to him but carrying players should be a thing of the past here. Some players will always bend the system so it takes strong management to get a grip of it. Hopefully that's what's happening here although I'm sceptical on that.

    Brexit

Good post and can't really argue with any of it the hard elements on both sides in our own govt are largely to blame. One thing i will say about May though yes it was an impossible task but she walked into it with her eyes wide open and i think she was driven by her own instincts. Which as we all know were remain so it wasn't never going to go smoothly but it majorly backfired. When she should have been looking for balance she was instead surrounding herself with a lot of diehard remainers. Now this mon has gone the other way in repeated acts of defiance. Non of this represents the true feelings of the majority of the country who were almost split down the middle. Brings me to a second ref, i wasn't in favour certainly not back then but now i might feel a bit different but really who wants to go through all that again. Like you i'm sure it won't be as bad as project fear portrays, might not be great either. The old saying the more things change the more they stay the same will apply here to a certain degree i reckon. The biggest damage has been done by fighting, time wasting and backstabbing. I just want it sorting and at any point if they'd jacked it in or May ( as she probably should've done) had pulled rank and gone with her beliefs, exercised the 'Stay' clause i wouldn't have been happy but i'd have got on with it. I suspect many remainers feel the same now about deal or no deal, just do it, get on with it there is no one size fits all. If they manage to sort a free trade deal then everything else will just end up a re-writing of the same rules under different headings. It will take time though and cause problems but hopefully there is something worthwile at the end of it. A bit of normality !

    Brexit

I'm sure in time they'll find a way around these things and it's a bit of a cake and eat it scenario when it comes to prepare. If so many spanners hadn't be repeatedly and purposefully thrown in the works there'd have been a proper transition period. By now a full 4 years later things should have been sorted. Under different terms and rules yes, wouldn't suit everyone of course. Fact is those who choose to sling mud 'you voted for this' etc need to take a step back and realize those who've constantly tried to stop it own some responsibility as well.

His comfy existence here should be over now step up to the plate club before country or go elsewhere. Let them pay you 15 grand per week to be carried for internationals. I mentioned something on the Rovers twitter feed after he'd been pulled by the club and it triggered a load of Irish responses. Most i presume not Rovers fans and they just could not grasp the club before country line at all. Oh he only plays for midtable championship side anyway was the jist of it. Somehow i think he's mostly had the same mindset. Said it a thousand times but that is exactly the attitude here that needs to change from top to bottom.

Yeah i forgot the world ended in 2016 didn't it, i sympathize with your situation if you are throwing a straight bat. However 4 years to prepare ?

    Brexit

The way it should be though, we'll always need foreign labour but the first choice should be getting our own to step up to the plate. Particularly the young and particularly the innner town/city youth for whom benefits are either no choice or a career choice.

    Brexit

Once it's all sorted the good should outweigh the bad or at least balance it. You can't expect to keep scumbags, criminals and scroungers out with freedom of movement. That's the whole point, if i have to queue a bit more, pay a bit more when going away in order to have our borders a bit more secure so be it. It's the world we live in that is the real problem not a tick on a voting slip. Whether they are all capable of putting the right measures in place is another matter of course.

I thought being in the EU there was supposed to be parity. Equal dibs pro rata.. It's ok though the 'boss' Germany can look after itself first.

I'd certainly have Watford, Brighton and Palace in the same bracket as us. Or rather we should be were they are. All comfortable mid sized Prem clubs although Brightons crowds are a bit misleading. They are the Hull of modern times. 5 seasons back in the champ as a club going nowhere they'd be struggling to get 15k regularly imo.

That's were his priorities have always lied, keep fit and get paid by a midtable championship club. Manage yourself around your internationals. Sooner he's gone the better his injury record isn't going to get any better as he gets older now and we are signing players just to cover his absence. Enough.

    Olivia Meets her Match

Katie Price has a lot to answer for when you see shows like that. She made it cool for a generation of young girls to aspire to fake tits, potty mouths and the barbie lifestyle, thrown in a celeb BF or two if you can find them. As it goes that Olivia at least seems to have a sense of humour and doesn't take herself too seriously. Hearts in the right place when it comes to him by the looks of it. He seems like a nice lad a bit naive but he lives in a whole different world to the rest of us. Any lad who says he prefers fish and chips mooching across a shitty Blackpool beach to flouncing around posh eateries in Dubai is alright with me !

If we were so irrelevant they'd have thrown their hands up said #### you and walked away and got on with it a long time ago. The 5th/6th largest economy is never irrelevant.

Luton Town v Rovers Sat 21st Nov. 3pm

He was said to have no symptoms so isn't the isolation a bit less ? Doesn't say much for our testing procedures though and god knows how many it might have been passed to on the way over there. Just shows what we are up against but the world will have to find a way to live with it.

A lot will say similar about Brentford i bet, clubs are usually where they are on merit and deserve to be there. We all expect the name Blackburn Rovers to be amongst the leading lights at least in the Championship. For me though these days it's more to do with the backing and facilities we have compared to Luton etc not just the name. That winning mentality being drilled into the players is the most important thing it can get any club a long way installed into the right players.

    Brexit

Get over it that's a bit desperate throwing that old chestnut out. I could reply with the constant project fear of doom and all those wild predictions. I won't bother though because both sides were throwing bull shit around but thankfully its calmed down a bit now. Sense will prevail in the end there's too much at stake on BOTH sides.

    Brexit

Don't upset the narrative Silas every few months there's a new remain 'hope of another delay' one. I love it how we were accused of being the Yanks puppets under Trump but now we might have to go against their advice we are little island flag wavers again. Double standards never end, fact is nobody should be telling us what to do but at the same time we should be trade partners with everybody who wants to trade. This thing needs sorting and ending more than ever now and the covid situation hopefully highlights how stupid both sides are. The EU should drop its stealthy ransom style demands and finally face up to it, our lot should stick to their guns and stick to their promises.

    Tony Mowbray Discussion

Yes there's been talk of 3 year plans and stuff after the great reset - relegation - so we are in the later stages of that now. Covid has come along and thrown a huge monumental spanner in but i don't think it can be blamed for everything. The progress though is there to see in terms of signings and pasting some teams we often struggle against. Similar patterns are still there in terms of weaknesses though and muddling about with line ups which many rightly feel is this managers achiles heel. Maybe there'd have been more signings or some big fees spent again if it wasn't for covid that must have made a difference to the budget. I'm not comfy with that though with Mowbray he works better under tighter constraints as we've seen. Also as PhilipL has mentioned the current situation can benefit Rovers a bit more than other clubs although it's hard for everyone. We rely on almost completely on owner funding all the time so the lack of income will impact much bigger turnovers worse you'd assume. Credit to Vs for standing firm on all that but it just adds to the weight of the managers backing. Somehow though i expect the 3 year plan will suddenly turn to a 5 year one in the near future when Steve & Tony get to spinning their yarns. Probably when we are in the middle of a one win in 8 run with a near full squad in Feb !!!

    Summer Transfer Window

I'm not sure Downing will be on a lot less if any to be honest as didn't he turn down the first offer ? Sounds a bit like he has his price and TM has said we can't go any higher at the min but if there's enough left after the window we'll come back. Other targets fell through and they maybe saved a month or twos wage which made it doable to make him another offer.

That's their 3 points its replaced Wigan away as the annual surrender for us. Although we could be heading there stronger than we've ever been in recent years. Could be a big statement a win there.
