  1. Reputation ? Money talks as do job vacancies and the chance to relaunch a career, the reputation here is if you toe the line, the owners like you then it's easy money and that is appealing to anybody. If you go for the right people with the right offer they'll come if there is nothing better being flung under their nose. Here they go for easy to employ, cheaper targets and THAT is why Eustace is here and why JDT was here. Same with GB, offering this step up to someone like him would see him make very few demands and obviously be prepared to put up with nonsense.
  2. Think Celtic would be a great move for him and i'd rather see him up there than at an ambitious Champ club or one in the Prem coming straight back down. Bag full of goals for him playing for the best side in the pub league, Europe, better for his international career and huge fanbase to worship him. We'd be needing 10 million though !
  3. That last line is daft and trotted out too many times in regards to Rovers. 'Who can we sign', 'Who will buy us'. 'Who will manage us' etc etc There are plenty out there who'd come and as i pointed out it's our first real stab at a having a proper DoF model so what do they do ? They hire someone who has never done it before then hide in shadows as he presides over another step in the right direction turning to a shit show. He clearly isn't actually directing anything he's just another intermediate adviser who can't make anything but the most basic decisions and all his ideas and directions have to go through several layers above him before he even gets a 'maybe' answer. That is why they've hired a rookie and of course in his naivety he'll front up answering questions and taking flak for stuff that isn't down to him.
  4. I like Wharton he's one of us and it's good to see him back playing well again but in all honesty he struggled with JDTs style more than others. He wasn't alone in that but he also fell away a bit the season before under a different style with TM. He was out because he was making basic defensive errors, not alone again, and that was mainly down to him. Poor though that it seems there was no arm around the shoulder and the dropping him for the Burnley game was another of JDTs many cock ups. Not sure what he was trying to prove there but i'd wager that was the start of an uneasy relationship between Scott and the head coach. What i did like in that interview is how gutted he obviously was and still is he was dropped from that game, lad was nearly choking up. Barnes isn't putting him in the back of the net that day like he did Hyam !
  5. Hes never been a DoF before and it clearly shows there are times he's winging it because he has no experience in that role with these issues. Just symptomatic of what has happened many times under this ownership, they employ people who aren't qualified to the required standard for the roles given to them. A constant need to to try and put cheaper yes men in and assume they'll grow into the role. Why ? It all started with Kean and there have been so many examples along the way. It's been the polar opposite of the Jack Walker then John Williams philosophy, if you want the job doing properly and you can afford it then hire the best you can convince to come to the club. It saves money in the long run and has a far greater chance of delivering what you need.
  6. Undisclosed fee with add ons. Depends how desperate we are by then.
  7. Iv'e nothing against Broughton i'm sure he didn't envisage some of the crap he was signing up for and most of it isn't his fault. I'd feel better if they sacked the Waggot and Shadow man and let him actually run the show although no guarantees which way it would go. I do feel though that when he isn't signing known players with some pedigree for a fee and decent wage then he has been found badly wanting. And that is what he's here for under the current set up and he's unlikely to be given a transfer budget so the thought of more Ennis, Leo, Tele, Mola etc is very worrying. Even Hirst which he papped on about in hindsight, yes he was obviously a player with championship potential but like Ennis and the others he just did not fit the then head coaches style. Perhaps Eustace will have easier to fulfil requiements.
  8. That's an ideology as well so forget about it. It's done, gone, never happening under their watch whether it be two years or twenty and you can pin this !
  9. Yep we all know the small squad is really just to drive down the wage bill and use cheap youth therefore also justifying the academy. We had a debate on here a few years ago initially pushed by someone who has now disappeared. His argument why use the players we had then on journeymen and upper champ wages just to finish midtable when we could use our own younger ones. Of course the kickback was that's a sure fire way to league one what we really need is a better manager and directors. Well after briefly bucking the trend here we are.
  10. Well ideally they'd clear off and a result the nest of dweebs hiding in the comfortable confines of Ewood wood be gone as well as a result. However we are stuck with them but there is no need to hold on to tweedle Dum and tweedle Dee because they've failed and heads need to roll.
  11. He always speaks well and i'm sure his intentions are good but he's pitching things that will never happen here and he has zero experience of delivering in a capacity as a DoF anyway. So it's basically 'look ##FC did it like this and so did ##FC so if we do the same we'll get the same result'. Ideology. And this 'sustainable Prem club line' is the biggest nonsense of the lot you need to move heaven and earth to get there first before you worry about that. One season up there would, without being stupid of course, totally reset the clubs finances and then we can think about sustaining it. Right now the only remit should be a sustainable top end Championship club that starts every season with a 50/50 chance of finishing in the top 6. What they are delivering and it started over 2 years ago is a club that has a 50/50 chance of dropping to league 1 every season and an 20/80 chance of finishing in the top 6. So his waffle is just empty words, the new jam tomorrow 'journey' talk that needs resetting every time there is another good player flogged and not replaced or another budget cut. It's BS Gregg lad BS and you are fooling no one.
  12. If we do go down and those two aren't removed straight away i'm just about done with it all. Just no point anymore the club is completely fecked under venkys and employing useless cretins like that there'll be no coming back without Tony Mowbray to hold their hands.
  13. Hard to imagine it being a lot worse. Fair play to the Telerag with that interview and line of questioning they won't even ask the CEO real questions these days. Their quality has gone down the plug hole just like the club
  14. You can't really hold that as a valid reason to think it's not true because the way they do things makes very little sense anyway. We know even in the best scenario deadline day is crazy things change by the minute, say JDT was the only man wanting Gally to stay so Rovers were holding out for an offer they couldn't refuse and he'd have to lump it. Then Ipswich sign Moore so that's off the table but there's a loan offer from Brum or somewhere ? There are literally a dozen scenarios that could unfold and one of those is very much someone in the club trying to move him off the wage bill at the 11th hour with no replacement and looking for a pat on the back.
  15. I'm thinking the new DoF model has been implemented by Venkys top brass and the next lot down i.e Bling and co don't like it because Shadow man and Waggot work for him and his agent pals. Pretty much like it was in the Shagnew/Shebby era again all pulling in different directions and all trying to undermine/get rid of each other.
  16. Quite simply to get him off the wage bill. There is no plan or anything that makes sense at Ewood in the chain of people at the club and the bean counters in India. Don't forget some probably assumed we were signing McGuire so probably wanted wages shifting out quick at the last min. If we ended the day with no McGuire and no Gallagher but 15k a week less going out then some somewhere along that chain would consider that a result.
  17. The shadowman and Waggot have gone rogue they are running the place to their own tune of cost cutting and making themselves look good to the owners. Do they want it relegating ? You'd be forgiven for thinking so. It's Shagnew all over again inside Ewood there are 2 factions at play again pulling in different directions by the sounds of it.
  18. Surely how it should work is they get him in and say we want to build a promotion challenging squad with a limited budget and making best use of our academy and player trading. He then sets out a plan or two and they agree which way to go then he directs it, it's his plan and his project and also on his head. But no not here he's clearly just another well paid yes man consultant who's realised he doesn't have to take accountability for anything because it's not his fault he's just another link in the chain.
  19. Remember how desperate we were, remember Wharton going, Trav loaned out, injuries and a blob of the first Wharton instalment landing. Remember Ennis, remember the repeated cock ups trying to sign decent players. Nobody can be remotely surprised if they took a 4/500k till the end of the season gamble and lets be honest if he's on half that it's still a stupid punt.
  20. Who'd be remotely surprised if they chucked 6 months at 80k a month at Fleck, plus agents fee of course. Half a million straight down the bog but we can't cut ST prices ! Represents everything that is wrong with this club and football in general.
  21. Again Waggot and Suhail are first in line for the blame of those players walking away and lack of ambition as well as wages played a part you can be sure. Broughton highlighted when asked about the Wharton money that one of the options is use it to boost the wage bill for a spell and allow us to compete for better players. That was done in the past though so it'll be a non starter now i'd imagine. Besides it's unlikely there'll be any money unless they stick more in in summer so a pointless debate but in the rare chance there is it'll 2 loans, a freebie and a 500k punt from Crewe or somewhere again. That's the model.
  22. Iv'e said many time the 20 million a year line buys many fans off as well as covering many cracks and dark holes. Just like life in general especially politics and the like if people would just open their eyes and open their minds a little things would be a lot clearer. No need at all to deal in conspiracy just start with ALL the facts and work from there and in regards to Rovers there is more than enough to explain what the real issue is here and has been for about 13 years. The rest of the stuff is just what many others clubs have to deal with but when it's incompetent at the heart of it things will never ever progress no many how much money/income or fans there is. Plenty examples of that as well BUT when it reaches rock bottom there is usually a change and a turnaround of fortunes. We on the other hand are destined to be stuck in an eternal loop that becomes ever decreasing circles.
  23. There was no push from TM he was comfortable placating the owners or indeed behind placated himself, lets not forget where he was before he came here. Can't say i blame him but most managers or coaches of a certain age in a certain phase of their lives would swap the stress of pushing for promotion for a gentle midtable 'next year might be our year' jog. He'd likely financially benefit just the same plodding along for 2 years as he would a quick promotion then a pay off it's not like he was earning Allardyce type money. And i'm not saying he didn't try for promotion on purpose i doubt that was the case at first, more like he took a good look around and arranged his deckchair accordingly.
  24. He's the DoF but what is he actually directing ? Nothing, all he can do is recommend to the board and they ask (or don't) the owners and we know that goes the way the wind happens to be blowing, if indeed they get an answer at all. Again all this goes through Suhail and Waggot so basically on first team matters GB is nowt more than a consultant or adviser he certainly isn't actually directing.
  25. He told us quite a bit there if we break it down.... Squad small on PURPOSE to allow a 30% use of our own youth. Admits the risks of that and trying to be competitive. Been told there'll be Wharton money to reinvest (which means bugger all) 'Recommended' to the board 4 areas where it 'might' be invested. Exposed the stupidity of previous transfer windows (directors not there, split over 2 sites, IT mob gone home ) Admits the Wharton sale was pushed by needing to set an example (we know it was pushed because of finance) Human error for this windows cock up (he's covering for someone) Highlighted the nonsense of letting 4 players go for nothing and how that impact carried over. How many of those can be laid directly at the door of Waggot and the shadow director ? I'd say most of them so why the hell are they still here earning 100's of thousands ?
