  1. Not sure how they compile these stats either as if i remember rightly it took about 34 mins v PNE to get a shot just off target. Then the other night about 42 before Dack flicked a header over. We must've had an awful lot of box entries and touches in those early rampant wins to still be carrying that over. The creating of chances or anything in fact has been thin on the ground recently.
  2. It's simple really if the stats are so good why isn't the team and its league position ? If anything those stats yell out this style whatever it is isn't actually working to get the desired effect. Also he's in contradiction territory again saying about implementing the possession game. He started that LAST season he used the term transition to possession often enough. Therefore now it should be bearing fruit, alongside mentioning we wouldn't be losing if Ayala was playing. Is this the same Ayala who was struggling and we were losing when he actually played, then he told us it was because of our expansive game ( changed again) that he wasn't used to compared to the Pulis/Warnock syle ? Then we move back onto the style contradictions again, telling us we play a front foot high tempo style. Well that isn't the possession slow build style he's still implementing is it ? An interesting bit in there as well 'fine, let somebody else have a go'.... odd thing to say for one so sure he's on the right tracks. Who is that directed at exactly ?
  3. It's the HSH link then before that SEM/Kentaro that has scared half the fanbase into being terrified of what comes next every time we need a change. Using these bottom of the barrell merchants all the time is the real reason we can't progress. Something is still wrong in the heart of all this although it might just be as simple as Bling preferring these kind of arse licking pals to provide cheap parts for his toy. I do think though Venkys were looking for the Aldi version of an Arsene Wenger/Arsenal scenario. I fear this mon is it, his smugness when turning out shite and batting off questioning like he hasn't a care in the world backs it up.
  4. The good stuff he's done, promotion etc has seen him through several previous very poor spells. This season and imo the second half of last season were a clean slate to start judging his established Championship management. Don't forget he himself has trumpeted the aims, when to judge, how many windows and what he needed etc. He can't just uproot the goalposts every Jan when he realizes collectively they've fallen short again and expect it to fall on deaf ears. Not only that but blame it on every conceivable and unconceivable thing he can find then inevitably spin it back onto fans so called expectations. Fans who haven't been in the ground for a year and have played no part whatsoever in how things have gone. There's lines you don't cross but when it comes to arse covering towards India they get trampled over. We've seen it all before and i'll say this for Lambert, love him or loath him he's been the only one under this ownership who's held his hands up and admitted he couldn't deliver.
  5. We were still exposed down the flanks playing like that and in turn we offer very little from wide areas in attack. I'm not sure it's the answer and one or two players, Dack in particular didn't look happy with it.
  6. It's no surprise though, they have obvious qualities but are raw inexperienced lads playing the mans game now. It's all to be expected and puffing out the squad with these types is a fair enough argument. Quite how they can expect them to anchor an already fragile defense to mount a top 6 challenge though is fanciful at best. So therefore the question is what really are the ambitions and who is pulling the strings on these signings.
  7. He ain't walking with over a year left so there'd have to be some sort of severance. Best way all around would be make the decision now that we need to change in summer. Stick to it no matter if we improve a bit and finish strong as usual with the dead rubbers. Then shake hands say thanks, pay him up and move on .... or away from 1st team duties at least.
  8. I can't see skint Ipswich paying compo for him. Also i wouldn't call him a failure that's a bit ott, i know the guy is beginning to grate but lets keep it on the level. He's just doing what he always does all the evidence is out there. This is his level of operating and his way of working is only conducive to ending seasons somewhere in the middle 3rd. It's what he's good at you might say so any club looking to establish itself in that group could do a lot worse. Here though just like at Boro it's time to try and move it up a notch. It's time for the first time in Venkys tenure for these billionaires to step away from the shackles of the HSH scrapyard and source a manager either with a name, a pedigree or look at the over achievers in this league who are operating on smaller budgets. It can be done, there's no guarantees but that's just part and parcel of it all. The better candidate you go after the better chance you have of success.
  9. Again though it just highlights Mowbrays lack of grip on it tactics wise. When Nyambie plays he wants him pushing / bombing forwards with no real cover. Every game the oppo target the space he leaves behind. Every now and then it results in being caught out and conceding a goal. So Tony's answer is ? Well it was there last night in glorious colour. He seems more bothered about what his full backs can do up the pitch that in their own position.
  10. The finger could probably be pointed at Lenihen this season as being as culpable as Nyambie for a few goals conceded. Similar with the Douglas/ Bell left flank side of things.
  11. He was dropped because good old Tone wanted to find a formation to play the City kid, Bennett and still accommodate Gallagher. I think it's as simple as that and Ryan going missing for the first goal v Nobbers provided him with a starting point. Otherwise he'd have started then been hawked off at some point whatever the score. He was throwing him under the bus -again- the other night but he wasn't even man enough to back that up after Barnsley. 'No reason' he says, yeah alright. I can cast iron guarantee if we'd won he'd have been using that as one of the reasons to justify it, no doubts whatsoever.
  12. Best comedy line on here ! I'd wager he does the exact opposite.
  13. I'd like to know just what this well protected is all about. Maybe just having his mate as CE or is it deeper ? Then again it is Nixon so might just be assumption the same as most of us.
  14. Every season he's changed the narrative to suit himself though. All the big bold talk and targets then when he realizes he and them are falling someway short again he flips it on its head. We go from being this historic, ambitious big club with great owners and its sights firmly set on trying to get up the league. To little old Rovers with a strict budget, not much going for us other than to be happy to be where we are. The man is oozing so much shite these days i'm surprised his clothes aren't hanging off his bones by now.
  15. There is a good squad there now, he and others deserve credit for putting it together. That's only half the job though it's clearly being mismanaged on the pitch in football terms. Also factor in he still relies heavily on the older heads he inherited. Bennett always involved when fit as is Evans, Williams the same. Mulgrew would have been had they not fallen out. Maybe we've missed them in terms of their influence rather than ability but what does that say ? I always maintained it was dangerous creating that pecking order in terms of seniority at the club rather than ability and influence on the pitch.
  16. A lot of it comes back down to the money wasted on BB and Gallagher. He's clearly shoehorning him in, although for me he looks better charging around and closing down up top that galloping up and down the wider position. You'd think though any manager worth his salt having attacking flair like Dack, Armstrong and Elliot would want a system that gets the best out of those 3. Nightmares for moderate opposition defense especially ones exposed from a team pushing up like Barnsley do. He's terrified of that though, why not play a counter attacking style last night ? Just typical Mowbray coming up with yet another system so he could shove in the City kid and Bennett and still find somewhere for the 5 million pound rod he's created for his own back.
  17. I feel flat this season and have done for months that we won't be having a good go just at getting in the top 6. The top 3 was an absolute fantasy and like the top 6 it will remain so with this regime in charge, who have no form in getting anywhere near it for over a decade. And that was clearly a Coyle style one off where everything just clicked. I doubt there was a slow build or grand masterplan to it just a new voice and a few signings that worked instantly. We are a hamster on a wheel with Mowbray and his gang.
  18. My theory is he's another academy graduate who they think can easily be replaced. Probably by rotataing Benno, JRC and whatever multiposition loanee happens to be in the building next season. Gives Mowbray the flexibility and license to mix and match he craves. Then it's a case oh look Madame another 3 million plus add/sell ons for a kid we've developed who cost us nowt. He wanted 50 grand a week now so we've cashed in and covered the academy costs for another year on the back of Raya last year. See, we know what we are doing leave it to us the top 6 is on for next season ! Then it's a case of oh look
  19. That comes from a lack of confidence as does the tetchiness when questioned. He clearly has no real confidence in his squad being good enough to play a more robust don't worry about the opposition type of football. Has no confidence in a best 11 and his own tactics, they all change every week and often multiple times per game. Everything he tends to do goes against everything he claims to seek, consistency basically. He looks like a man trying to eat soup with a sieve.
  20. That's the vote of no confidence right there. Dunn thinks they are all the right man if he's a mate of theirs.
  21. Isn't there a years option or roll on with Nyambie or something ? Either way Mowbray has been trying to ease him out for 12 months now imo.
  22. The usual multiple mixed up rubbish. It's a brave man who listens to his post match garbage tonight.
  23. There's been an assumption based on a few comments floating around that the recruitment dept is bringing these players in on their own judgement. How much of that is true and whether he's much say on it or not who really knows. Might explain some of his recent detachment from it but in general i think he's been decent with our academy players. I'm more worried by his use of his alleged signings and the inconsistency and fragile nature of his senior signings who are supposed to lead the way for the rest. Namely Gallagher, Johnson, Holtby, Ayala, Douglas. Downing not used much and his use of Brereton before this season has been odd to say the least.
  24. We need to define whether we are a promotion team or just a development team imo. That's the lack of identity, a side looking/pushing/building to go for it or one just looking to develop players and hope to finish as high as possible every year. Trying to develop too many at once just leaves us open to poor mistakes, unsettled from one game to the next. Unsettled from the start of a game to the end as well often. In an ideal world a good center half in their for the past few years and a good left back might see by now Nyambie & Lenihen worth 5/8 million each. Too much tombola sees neither prosper as you pointed out and the team as unbalanced as its ever been. Now back to that 7 million and 5 million and where it really needed spending a couple of years ago !
