Finished 1-0. Valuable win for the U21s, as Leicester are bottom of the league and we were sliding a bit too close for comfort. This opens up an 8 point gap between the two sides, and I believe only the bottom side gets relegated. Only 7 games remaining, so you'd expect us to be able to avoid relegation now.

I suspect this entered into the thinking when naming a strong side, although some players need fitness anyway of course. Surprised we didn't go on to win by more considering the experience and the early lead.

    Bottom 2 get relegated.

He had a great game, esp as he was on a yellow since about the 10th minute. I've not read beyond here yet but I hope you've acknowledged since that this was a bit of a hasty point of view.

Maybe he needs to play with the mindset that hes already on a yellow. He can be fairly rash in the tackle from what I've seen.

Anyone saying one of the other players should have taken the penalty has clearly never played football at any sort of decent standard… or hasn’t watched any of the ‘All or Nothing’ type documentaries on Netflix/Amazon.

Rovers, like almost every other team in the country, are given a 1-5 for penalty takers when the match day squad is announced. Each player will be able to tell you who takes penalties and in which order. The coaches decide in advance to help remove any emotion from penalty taking, so it’s clear as day who takes the penalty no matter who is on the pitch. Hirst is clearly high up that list, likely second behind Brereton. If someone takes the ball off Hirst they’d be fined and dropped whether they scored the penalty or missed.

The question has to asked how is he so far up that list.
