  1. Imo the more you hear from Broughton the more obvious it becomes he's only in it for the ride. No guarantees given whatsoever regarding transfers going forward but "I've submitted my report". (Roughly translates as "I couldnt care less what happens after that - as long as I continue to get paid Im all right Jack") And who in their right mind would retain some of their transfer budget? If you have a budget (subject to FFP) then you spend it all in the hope of doing as well as you possibly can NOW. If things dont then work out you'd have to work on your wits and wheel and deal and tweak things about until they do work. Hopefully Eustace won't want this guy hanging around for long - then at least it would be one less to worry about.
  2. The bullshitting bastard can't even get his story straight.
  3. I've had plenty to say about them since the financial landscape changed. You along with my old mate roversfan99 just choose to disregard it.
  4. Well, the likes of Waggott and Broughton (and Mowbray before them) are or were only interested in feathering their own nests and doing the bare minimum to keep the gravy train rolling on as long as possible. Why do the owners let them get away with it? Probably because they can afford it and don't care enough and can't be arsed to put more effort in to try and change things and make us successful.
  5. Only Southgate could make such a talented bunch of players look so insipid. Coming the day after he didn't have the cajones to say the right thing about the new England shirt and toed the FA/Nike party line instead. Another opportunity will go to waste again this summer. As one or two others have said we'll win nowt with him in charge. Criminal he wasn't potted after the World Cup but then he always says the right thing as far as his employers are concerned so unfortunately the job is probably his as long as he wants it.
  6. So.... even in that scenario we'd have been no worse off on the pitch as he offers absolutely nothing but at least we'd have had some money in the Bank. Obviously in an ideal world he should have been sold and replaced at zero net cost by the younger Mcguire. As for Broughton, bullshitter extraordinaire. I had to try very hard not to throw the phone out of the car window listening to that pile of smarmy shite. The main purpose of the interview seemed to be to blow smoke up his arse but on the odd occasion a difficult question arose he completely ducked it. Clearly only here for his own betterment financially and also only interested in selling players. Well I'm glad he's glad that we're keeping the "big" Clubs happy and that we're seemingly on a mission to find a home for our best young talent away from Ewood Park. Why is no-one at the Club interested in US doing well on the pitch or winning football matches?
  7. Are the Forum going to put up with being messed about like this indefinitely? All you get when he does turn up is "I didn't know about it" or "I'll look into it". We've had two high profile transfers either messed up or sabotaged in successive January transfer windows, a manager walk out in disgust, and now that the future of the Club appears to be hanging by a thread at the whim of an Indian Court, Waggott's avoiding you because its got a bit too hot in the kitchen. You should refuse to meet with the Club and go Public with your decision until they start taking meetings seriously and provide dome satisfactory answers as to the Club's future. And by this I mean some actual detail of what they're going to do. No more of this stock bs from Waggott about "the owners remain fully committed" when actions suggest otherwise and which translate as far as he is concerned as "I couldn't care less what happens to the Club as long as I can screw another 2 or 3 years money out of it."
  8. I think that's the best summary I've seen. I'm pretty convinced that if JDT had stayed we'd have gone down, as much as I liked him. If Eustace keeps us up this season that's job done for that period as far as I'm concerned. I do however have reservations about his ability to take us forward over the course of a full season next year based on what we've seen so far.
  9. No closer to home. Obviously it was the owners decision to pull the Mcguire permanent deal for financial reasons due to the Court case, but those conditions weren't pertaining when the O Brien and Brierley deals were authorised but mysteriously fell by the wayside at the last minute nor do I blame the owners for the Mcguire loan deal going mysteriously tits up in similar circumstances after they authorised it. I wonder who would look better if we spent less money over the year? Edit: You can of course blame the owners 100% that multiple heads haven't rolled as a result of all three incidents.
  10. It was the same when Sven was in charge of England. Avoided picking anyone from Rovers like the plague and how much different might Matt Jansen's life been different had he been selected that summer?
  11. You'd imagine authorisation to go ahead is given at a relatively early stage. Even we surely wouldnt be stupid enough to take all our deals down to the wire without even knowing whether the owners will give them the go ahead. A case in point is the Mcguire permanent deal which was seemingly initially authorised but then pulled at the last minute for financial reasons. The loan deal would appear to be completely different. Once again this was seemingly authorised after the failure of the permanent deal and GB "negotiated" a deal with a ludicrous option to purchase fee which ensured there would never be any danger of it being made permanent. However for the second year in a row it appears we couldn't even get the paperwork for the loan right - either through negligence or by design. It is I think insulting everyone's intelligence to suggest we could cock up three deals accidentally especially when it only generally seems to happen to high value incoming deals and I know where I would be pointing the finger.
  12. If he was then it was totally out of order not involving JDT in discussions. If he wasn't, then obviously he still wasn't aggrieved enough to take the moral high ground like JDT did and negotiate his own departure. Speaks volumes.
  13. I expect he'll pop up again next season like nothing has happened and everything will be brushed under the carpet and conveniently forgotten.
  14. Ah right. No wonder he went ballistic then. On top of the Mcguire shitshow as well.
  15. Of all the things JDT could be aggrieved about that doesn't sound like it should be very high up the list. Why would he be upset about a loan deal being arranged for a player he rated? And also difficult to believe this player wouldnt have been an improvement on the players we did end up with who Broughton presumably did sign? Plus as we used to keep getting told, he was a head Coach and not a manager so wouldn't have had the sole say on incomings.
  16. He'd do a better job than Broughton. £500 k loan deal for half a season with an option to purchase for 7m Euros was it?
  17. Nurse? !!!! Bloody Hell, Ipswich Southampton and Leeds aren't Manchester City or Barcelona. Get a grip! We should be targeting something off every game. One of the three mentioned above might have an off day when we play them and I think it's more likely we'll beat one of them then routinely roll over all three of the so called "lesser" sides.
  18. Agreed, but subject to the word "should" they've put a statement out saying the recent financial issues are practically resolved. Whether they intended to do that may be a moot point but they can hardly use the Court proceedings as an excuse going forward now.
  19. Difficult not to think otherwise isn't it. Waggott will be gutted if he has to send our (sorry the leased) new bus back.
  20. The "statement" is quite clear in the inference that whatever problems there were previously as regards getting funding over have allegedly now more or less been resolved and there are only a few procedural points to iron out. Everyone should keep a copy of this statement close to hand in case there is no change to the current situation. The Club and owners will have hung themselves by their own petard should that turn out to be the case.
  21. To be fair JDT, offered his resignation (understandably) after the Mcguire debacle and it was accepted.
  22. It was allegedly Gary Bowyer's Dad Ian, of former Notts Forest fame under Cloughie, who was involved in the scouting when we had that relatively golden recruitment period. How we could do with someone at the Club now who knows the game and has a real eye for a player instead of Broughton and legions of analysts who wouldn't know a decent player if they tripped over them.
  23. Is the chant "I don't care about Venky's" simply that one line chanted over and over? Or is it part of a longer song with some additional context? If not its a bit of an odd message to send out, to the uninitiated it sounds like those singing it aren't too bothered either way way whether Venky's stay or go.
  24. I think we'll probably get at least one result we weren't expecting against sides higher up in the table and continue to fail to impress in the games we think we should win. Whether that will start against Ipswich remains to be seen.
  25. It's Nixon, so I'd treat the story with a lorry load of salt but even if it were true they'd have to be fairly quick to sell us as a PL Club given that promotion is arguably a licence to get tubbed for a season then go straight back down. All indications up to now (before the current Court case) were that they'd never consider selling, ever, and in the unlikely event we did ever get promoted under them you'd think being in the Premier League would make them less not more inclined to sell.
