  1. And there’s the 5th to complete the humiliation. Assuming we lose to Leeds the Sheffield Wednesday game is taking on monumental proportions Based on tonight’s showing we’ll lose that too
  2. A 4-0 defeat at Ashton Gate is a "result", albeit a bad one. Still contemplating going to this, but the thought of a weary 4-hour battle each way on the M6 and M5 doesn't appeal.
  3. Keep up the good work old chap. Always entertaining!
  4. And lots of others. Fills a shirt, and not much else
  5. Never been to Ashton Gate so considering going as it might be my last opportunity to see a game this season. Does anyone know if we can pay on the gate?
  6. I like baseball. Pace of the game and ambience very similar to cricket. I like watching the techniques of the bowlers (pitchers) and batters (now horribly used in cricket also). Went to the Red Sox v LA Angels game last year, low scoring game but v enjoyable. Back to the Saints game, a draw would be a good result against them. They're a good side with some talented players. Hope A Armstrong doesn't score.
  7. Can we play north east teams every week?. Shame there's so few of them because we usually seem to do well. Back to earth with a bump I think with this one. 1-0 defeat with the immutable law of the ex in Adam Armstrong inevitably scoring the winner.
  8. Branthwaite didn’t look the part at Rovers but has obviously improved since then. Harwood Bellis on the other hand looked top class to me and a future England player way ahead of Branthwaite To be fair to Mowbray among the flops the club got some excellent loans under him when you consider we’ve also had the likes of Tosin, Elliott, Reid and Giles, who looked an excellent left back when he was played in his proper position.
  9. It's not new. It was a big problem under Mowbray and has continued. Points to lack of fitness maybe, poor concentration and poor game management - leaders on the pitch who know how to see out games.
  10. How many goals have we given away not through poor defending but to downright bloody awful goalkeeping. It just should not happen at this level. Priority number one in the summer has to be a solid proven goalkeeper. He doesn’t have to be special, just one who doesn’t keep letting the team down with silly, basic mistakes
  11. Football bloody hell. Sunderland safe and switched off for the season? It’s the only explanation. Very welcome though
  12. Why does Chaddy bother attending matches when he knows we're going to win every game? It must be so boring. Looking beyond wind-up artistes, a draw would be a good result today
  13. And that has achieved what exactly?
  14. Is being useless transmissible? In which case almost the entire Rovers squad have been infected. I wouldn’t be bothered if he were out for the season seeing as he’s as much use as a chocolate fireguard even when he’s fit 1-1 would be a relief against the Black Cats. It’s the best we can hope for under the present circumstances
  15. That hurts,, losing to a goal like that, a self inflicted wound. If we do manage to stay up it’s going to be by the skin of our teeth.
  16. It’ll be especially painful if that rubbish goal proves to be the winner. Come on, Tomasson had to go
  17. Eustace increasingly looking like a Poundshop Tony Pulis. Poor tactics and performances minus the decent results.
  18. This game was already difficult enough without giving away a soft goal like that. It's unforgiveable. Thing is, where's the equaliser coming from? Eustace has had the best part of 2 weeks to work with this lot. Have to say I can't see any difference
  19. Leicester's defeat gives Ipswich a huge incentive today. If we can avoid defeat we will have done well.
  20. Both Mowbray and Tomasson both blew big chances to get in the playoffs. The collapse in form in the latter half of those 2 seasons were similar but it felt worse under Tomasson because we had been in the top 6 right to the very end only to fail at the last hurdle. The game at Preston will wrankle for a very long time. There's a rose tinted view of Tomasson because of his fluent passing game but forgotten also were many dreadful performances when the team did not compete and gave away some of the silliest, softest goals I've ever seen through unnecessary mistakes at the back. I liked Tomasson but he outstayed his welcome and was allowed to continue in post far too long. In the end he had lost interest and was actually damaging the club.
  21. England have a poor record against Brazil and last night was a chance to beat one of the worst Brazil teams I've seen. Their celebrations at the end shows how much it meant to the Brazil players and the coaching staff. I don't think they expected to win. England are destined to fail again this summer. Southgate doesn't have the nous to win a tournament. England will need a foreign coach in order to move forward and finally win some silverware. Their understanding of the game is so superior.
  22. Dear Gareth loses another when faced with top class opposition Nothing changes
